FAQ

Rhinoplasty:
answers to frequent questions

Rhinoplasty (nose job) — one of the most intricate and popular plastic surgeries, intended to reshape the nose so it matches the individual proportions of the nose and the whole face. Modern rhinoplasty is more than an operation to alter the nose's look — it is complex surgical work aimed at an aesthetic ideal that does not compromise health.

Rhinoplasty in Lublin step by step

Who is a candidate? The optimal age is 18 to 45, when the nose is fully formed and tissues heal well; with medical indications, older patients can also be considered if health allows. Indications include asymmetric cartilage or nostrils and significant breathing problems. Anyone researching rhinoplasty in Lublin should know the contraindications too: decompensated chronic disease, skin damage or inflammation in the area.

Here is the route in short: consultation with a 3D forecast, a full lab work-up confirming there are no contraindications, the operation, a day in the inpatient unit and then a recovery course with swelling relief and nose monitoring. Mild congestion may persist for 1–1.5 months. Nasal breathing usually returns within 1–2 weeks for patients in Lublin.

One price, $4,200 (≈ PLN 16,500), applies to open and closed techniques, tip work and septorhinoplasty alike. It includes general anaesthesia, a day in the inpatient unit, doctor monitoring and a free check-up afterwards, and the clinic gives a lifetime guarantee on the result. Lublin residents can start with a free consultation: the doctor examines the nose and names the exact figure.

Patient reviews

What patients write after this operation. Reviews are translated from the original language.

Ekaterina Ivanova

For a long time I was self-conscious about the length of my nose, until a friend who had had rhinoplasty recommended this clinic. At the very first consultation they set the date of surgery and explained every stage in detail. The rhinoplasty under general anaesthesia was performed by Mareta Meirieva: the swelling went down quickly, and after just a week my nose looked natural and neat. Modern equipment, attentive staff and appointments without delays made the whole process comfortable. I recommend the clinic to anyone who values professionalism and a quality result.

Rhinoplasty

Olga Vasilyeva

This was my first visit to the clinic, for rhinoseptoplasty, and to be honest I was very nervous. At the consultation they explained every stage of the operation and recovery in detail, which calmed me down straight away. The operation was performed by Mareta Meirieva: the swelling started to go down on the third day, and the result is visible to the naked eye. Everything inside is sterile and pleasant, the atmosphere inspires trust, and the staff are always responsive. I thank the clinic for the high level of service and the warm approach!

Rhinoplasty

Marina Samarina

Everything was first-class: clean, cosy and calm. Booking and choosing the right date was easy. The nose operation went smoothly and the nerve block was done perfectly: now I breathe freely without nasal drops! It is a real lifesaver for anyone tired of endless prescriptions and ineffective procedures. I recommend it to everyone who values professionalism and results.

Rhinoplasty

Viktoria Petrova

I recently had rhinoplasty and I am absolutely delighted. At the consultation they told me about every stage in detail, so I went into surgery fully prepared. The operation went smoothly: they straightened the bridge of my nose and made the nostrils symmetrical, and the shape came out very neat. The swelling lasted a little longer than I expected, but they explained straight away that full recovery takes more time. No unpleasant surprises, everything was within the normal range. I recommend the clinic to anyone looking for a confident result and an attentive attitude.

Reading the Lublin calendar before you pick a date for rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is planned around the days when you would rather not be seen, and Lublin has a clear rhythm of busy and quiet stretches. Students make up about 35% of the city's population, with the Catholic University of Lublin (founded 1918) and Maria Curie-Sklodowska University as the main universities. That gives the year a pattern: lectures, exam weeks and long breaks all shape when people are free to stay at home. If you study or teach, the quiet stretch after a session may suit you better than the weeks before it.

Spring and early summer are full of public events. Student Culture Days last about three weeks between May and June. The Night of Culture falls on the first Saturday night of June, East of Culture follows in late June, and Carnaval Sztukmistrzow and the Urban Highline Festival take place in the last days of July. The Jagiellonian Fair comes in late August. The St Nicholas Day Folk Music Festival is held in the first decade of December. If you want to attend any of these without a splint or visible swelling, count backwards from the date. The coordinator can help you do that on WhatsApp or Telegram, and the doctor gives the final guidance during your online consultation.

Public holidays matter as well. Poland has 14 public non-working days: 1 January, 6 January, Easter Sunday and Monday, 1 May, 3 May, Pentecost Sunday, Corpus Christi, 15 August, 1 November, 11 November, 24 December (since 2025), and 25 and 26 December. A holiday that falls beside your operation can give you a quiet stay at home without extra leave. It can also mean shops and pharmacies keep different hours when you need them. Here is a worked example. A one-day stay on Monday 9 November 2026 would be followed by Wednesday 11 November, a public holiday. The first check-up, listed at 7 days, would then land on Monday 16 November. It is a tidy arrangement on paper, but check that your own calendar really leaves those days free.

The same logic works for the December period. 24, 25 and 26 December are all non-working days, and 1 and 6 January follow soon after. A person who wants the nose to look calm by family gatherings should discuss the timing early. The consultation is free, and the 3D model of the future result is made during it, so you can talk about dates and the shape of the nose in one conversation.

Plan around the check-up schedule too. The recovery programme includes check-ups at 7 days, 3 months and 6 months, and consultations with the doctor stay free for a year afterwards. When you choose a date, mark those points on the calendar next to your own commitments. Then you can see whether the first week after the stay falls on a holiday, an exam week or a busy period at work.

Breathing, damp and cold: what Lublin's weather asks of a nose

The nose works as an air conditioner, and Lublin tests it through the seasons. The city has a humid continental climate. The 1991-2020 normals give relative humidity of 80.1% across the year, rising to 89.5% in December and 89.0% in November and dropping to 70.5% in April. Annual precipitation is 601.0 mm over 166.9 days, with July the wettest month at 82.2 mm and February the driest at 31.5 mm. On average there are 67.5 snowy days a year.

Winter air is cold. January's mean maximum is -0.1 °C and the mean minimum is -4.9 °C. February runs from 1.6 °C to -4.2 °C, and December from 1.2 °C to -3.3 °C. The record low is -33.7 °C, set in January. Summer is mild: July averages 24.5 °C at the maximum and 13.6 °C at the minimum, and August 24.3 °C and 13.1 °C. The record high is 38.0 °C, recorded in June.

Why does this matter for rhinoplasty? Many people who ask about a change of shape also notice that one side of the nose feels narrower, especially on cold, damp days. Rhinoplasty can adjust both appearance and breathing when airflow is restricted. When the septum is deviated, the combined operation, rhinoseptoplasty, corrects the septum and the shape of the nose together. A habit of breathing through the mouth in the cold months is a good thing to describe to the doctor during your online consultation. You can also send photos and a few lines about when your breathing feels hardest.

Be careful with expectations. Damp weather does not decide whether you are suitable for the procedure. The consultation decides that, based on your anatomy and your health. The list of contraindications includes inflammation of the ears, throat, nose or eyes. In a city where November air is humid and December is the dampest month, a cold that drags on is a practical reason to postpone the date. It is not a sign that something is wrong with the plan. Tell the coordinator if you catch a cold close to the day, and the date can be moved before anything is finalised.

Preparation starts 21 days before the operation, so check that window against the damp months of November and December. The tests before surgery include a complete blood count, biochemistry, a coagulation panel, a chest X-ray and an X-ray of the sinuses. The coordinator reminds you about tests and check-ups, so you do not have to track it all yourself.

Light, glasses and the nose in photographs

Sunshine in Lublin is strongly seasonal. The city gets 1,821.3 hours a year, about 263 hours in June and about 263 hours in July. December has only 30.3 hours. That contrast affects how you plan the weeks after the procedure. In midsummer, bright light and sunglasses are part of daily life. In midwinter there is little light, but scarves, hats and masks cover the face anyway.

Glasses deserve their own paragraph. Anyone who wears glasses all day, or sunglasses on bright June and July days, should raise it at the consultation. The question is when and how glasses can be worn while the nose heals. The doctor will answer for your case after assessing your nose and the technique chosen. We do not give a universal timeline here, because the real extent of correction and recovery depends on your anatomy and individual features. Many people prefer contact lenses for a time, and that is also a point to discuss with the doctor.

The splint is part of the picture. The clinic lets you choose its colour: purple, gold, green, light blue, pink, yellow, raspberry or carbon. It may sound like a small thing, but a splint is visible for a while, and a person who studies, teaches or works with clients may want a colour that feels comfortable rather than conspicuous. On dark December afternoons a darker shade may look calmer. In bright summer, a light blue or pink may feel less heavy. Both are matters of taste, not medicine.

Photographs help in the other direction. Before the consultation, the doctor asks for photos of your nose. Take them in even daylight, from the front and from the sides, without a filter. A short winter day can produce yellow indoor light that distorts the profile, so a window on a cloudy day often works better than a lamp. These pictures feed the 3D model made during the consultation, which shows what a realistic forecast could look like. The consultation is free, before surgery, and does not commit you to anything.

Planning the stay, the splint and the swelling

The operation itself is organised simply. Rhinoplasty is performed under general anaesthesia and, depending on complexity, takes 1.5 to 3 hours. After it you stay one day in the clinic's inpatient unit, and all procedures happen there. The doctor decides the extent and course of the operation at the consultation, based on your goals and the anatomy of your nose. The most common choices are primary rhinoplasty, rhinoseptoplasty, and revision rhinoplasty, which is performed no earlier than a year after the primary operation.

The age range matters. The optimal age is 18 to 45, when the nose has finished forming and tissues still heal well. Under 18 is a contraindication. If surgery is medically indicated later in life, it can be considered provided general health allows.

Think of the weeks after discharge as a plan, not a surprise. You leave with a recovery programme, and check-ups follow at 7 days, 3 months and 6 months. Swelling and the splint are the visible parts of the first period. No honest text can give you a day-by-day number for your face. The doctor will explain what to expect for your nose, and the real course depends on your individual features.

What can you arrange in advance in Lublin? Think about the practical side of the first days at home: who is around, how you will get to appointments, and what you will do about work or classes. A spouse, a roommate or a relative can help with the first days after discharge. If you are a student in a city where roughly a third of residents are students, check with your department what flexibility exists around exam sessions and attendance.

Another planning point is the weather in the cold months. With 67.5 snowy days a year on average and winter nights well below zero, getting to and from appointments may need extra time. Consider that when you set the date of the check-up at 7 days. The coordinator who looks after you after discharge keeps in touch, answers questions during recovery and books follow-up visits, so you can reschedule if the weather or a holiday interferes.

Finally, do not squeeze the schedule. A rushed date creates stress. A date that sits comfortably between holidays, exams and events lets you focus on getting ready, and coordinators answer round the clock, so you can ask at any hour.

Insurance, public care and what an online consultation can clarify

People in Lublin often ask how a private nose operation relates to the public health system. Here are the facts that are known. NFZ finances services that are listed in its list of publicly funded services, and within that range treatment is in most cases free for the insured patient. Services that are not listed in those catalogues are not financed by NFZ. Whether your particular situation falls inside or outside the publicly funded range is a question for NFZ or for your family doctor. We cannot decide it for you.

If you are already on an NFZ waiting list for something related, such as a procedure for breathing difficulties, remember the rule that for a given service a patient may be entered on a waiting list with only one provider. The original referral must be delivered within 14 working days of entering the list. A private consultation does not change your place on any list, but it is wise to keep your paperwork in order and ask your public provider before making plans.

Health insurance in Poland is built on a contribution of 9% of personal income, with 7.75% deducted from tax and 1.25% paid directly to NFZ. Uninsured patients pay the full cost of services. This is background, and it does not change how the online consultation works. The consultation is free, and the price of the operation is named by the doctor and fixed in the contract after the result has been modelled.

Public waiting times are a reason some people look at planned private care. As an illustration of how long waits can be in another area of medicine, a Ministry of Health reply from 5 August 2025 reported that the average wait for hip replacement fell from 195 days in 2022 to 172 days in 2024, and for knee replacement from 242 to 214 days. That source concerns orthopaedics and focuses on one voivodeship, so it says nothing about nose operations. It is one example of why many people prefer to know their timeline in advance.

What can an online consultation clarify? You send photos on WhatsApp or Telegram, receive a free assessment from the doctor and a price, and confirm the plan and dates before anything is booked. If surgery is not needed in your case, the doctor will say so at the consultation, which spares you an unnecessary expense. If it is needed, you will know the technique, the steps and the schedule before you commit.

Lublin in numbers, and why a calm plan beats a quick one

Lublin is the capital of Lublin Voivodeship in eastern Poland. The city covers 147.46 km2 and lies on the Lublin Upland. The Bystrzyca river crosses it, dividing a western part with varied relief and loess gorges from a flat eastern part. The highest point is 235.0 m above sea level and the lowest is 163.6 m. Zemborzyce Lake in the south is an artificial reservoir created by damming the Bystrzyca, and it serves recreational functions.

Population figures vary by source and date. At the 30 June 2021 census the city had 334,681 residents. The population peaked at 359,154 in 1999, and the latest figure given is 326,700 as of 31 December 2025. The metropolitan area is reported at about 664,000 people. Such a catchment shows that many residents of the surrounding area use the city for services, work and study.

Why mention this in a text about the nose? Because planning is easier when the city's rhythm is clear. The year has a student cycle, a set of festivals, public holidays, damp autumns and snowy winters. A date that ignores them can mean a splint during a festival you wanted to enjoy, or a check-up on a holiday morning. A date that respects them leaves room for recovery.

A calm plan looks like this. First, send photos and describe what bothers you: shape, breathing or both. Second, discuss with the doctor the technique and the 3D model. Third, choose a date that is free of obligations for the first weeks. Fourth, begin preparation 21 days before, with the tests listed above. Fifth, stay one day at the clinic, then follow the recovery programme with check-ups at 7 days, 3 and 6 months. Throughout, your coordinator is in touch by WhatsApp or Telegram, round the clock.

Nothing in this plan is rushed, and nothing needs to be decided in the first message. The first consultation is free and does not commit you to surgery. Honest facts, a realistic forecast and a date that fits your calendar make a better start than any deadline.

Does the damp Lublin autumn affect when I should schedule rhinoplasty?

Humidity in Lublin averages 80.1% across the year and reaches 89.0% in November and 89.5% in December, so colds and blocked noses are easy to pick up in those months. Inflammation of the ears, throat, nose or eyes is on the list of contraindications, so a lingering cold is a practical reason to move the date. Tell the coordinator as soon as you feel unwell, and the doctor will advise whether to proceed or reschedule.

Can I wear glasses or sunglasses during recovery, given how sunny Lublin gets in summer?

Lublin receives about 263 hours of sunshine in each of June and July, so sunglasses are a real question for summer dates. There is no single answer, because the real extent of correction and recovery depends on your anatomy and the technique chosen. Ask the doctor during the online consultation when and how glasses can be worn, and whether contact lenses are a sensible alternative for you.

Which Lublin events should I keep in mind when choosing a date?

The Night of Culture is on the first Saturday night of June, East of Culture is in late June, Carnaval Sztukmistrzow and the Urban Highline Festival are in the last days of July, the Jagiellonian Fair is in late August, and the St Nicholas Day Folk Music Festival is in the first decade of December. Student Culture Days last about three weeks between May and June. Work backwards from the event you want to attend and discuss the timing with the doctor. The coordinator can help you place the 7-day, 3-month and 6-month check-ups around your calendar.

How do Polish public holidays change the plan?

Poland has 14 public non-working days, including 1 November, 11 November, 24, 25 and 26 December, and 1 and 6 January. A holiday next to your stay can give you quiet days at home, but it may also mean different opening hours for shops and pharmacies when you need them. For example, a stay on Monday 9 November 2026 would be followed by the public holiday on Wednesday 11 November, and the 7-day check-up would fall on 16 November. Check such dates with your coordinator.

Will NFZ pay for a nose operation?

NFZ finances services listed in its list of publicly funded services, and services that are not listed are not financed by it. Whether a particular nasal problem falls within the publicly funded range is a question for NFZ or your family doctor. The online consultation with us is free, and the doctor will tell you honestly whether surgery is indicated in your case. The price of the operation is named by the doctor and fixed in the contract.

Is cold winter weather a problem for recovery and follow-up?

Lublin has on average 67.5 snowy days a year, and January's mean minimum is -4.9 °C, so getting to a 7-day check-up can take extra time in the cold months. The coordinator who supports you after discharge keeps in touch, answers questions and books follow-up visits, so dates can be adjusted if the weather causes trouble. The check-ups are at 7 days, 3 months and 6 months, and consultations with the doctor remain free for a year afterwards.

How early should I start preparing if I want to be ready for a December date?

Preparation begins 21 days before rhinoplasty, and the tests include a complete blood count, biochemistry, a coagulation panel, a chest X-ray and an X-ray of the sinuses. For a date in December, count back three weeks and mark the dates of the tests, keeping in mind that 11 November is a public holiday. The coordinator reminds you about tests and check-ups, and answers questions about each step.

I am a student in Lublin. When is the best moment for recovery?

With about 35% of the city's population being students, university schedules shape the whole year. A quiet stretch after an exam session, or a holiday break, can leave the first weeks free of classes. Check attendance rules with your department, and arrange for a spouse, roommate or relative to be around right after discharge. Remember the age range given for the operation: the optimal age is 18 to 45, and under 18 is a contraindication.
