I am sharing my experience, because before the operation I went through a pile of reviews myself and was looking for real stories. I had a beard transplant six months ago. Honestly, in the first days after the procedure I felt a little jittery: my face looked unfamiliar, there was slight swelling and small scabs. In the first couple of months the hair partly fell out, as the doctor had warned. But now the result truly makes me very happy) From about the 4th month active, even growth began. The transplanted hair took very well, the beard now looks as natural as possible, no bald patches are left. The beard became much thicker and denser, with the shape I had thought about for a long time. All in all, I recommend the clinic, the doctor was polite and explained everything 👍 The result is definitely worth it!

Questions we get

Here is what people
ask before booking

People often say hair implants, but no artificial hair is used. In a hair transplant the doctor moves your own follicles (grafts) from the donor area to thinning or bald areas using FUE or DHI.

City Medical Centre doctors

Yes. City Medical Centre accepts patients from other cities and countries, and an online consultation is available before you decide.

Pricing starts from $2,200 (≈ SAR 8,300) for FUE, $2,500 (≈ SAR 9,400) for DHI, and $2,700 (≈ SAR 10,500) for combined DHI+FUE. The exact figure is confirmed for free after a graft count and written into the contract.

It is a one-day procedure — you leave for home right after.

It helps with stable pattern hair loss and a receding hairline when there are enough donor grafts. Some types of alopecia need treatment first; the doctor checks this at the consultation.

No pain during the procedure, thanks to local anaesthesia.

FUE is the classic method: grafts are harvested with tweezers, with no cuts or stitches. DHI implants grafts without channels, using a Choi pen. A combined method harvests grafts by FUE and implants them with the DHI pen.

The number of grafts is assessed for free by the doctor, based on how much donor hair you have.

Expect 0–10 days to heal, then normal shedding of transplanted hairs at 2–4 weeks. Growth begins around 3–4 months, density builds by 6–9 months, and the final look appears at 12–18 months.

Hair growth is covered by a lifetime guarantee, fixed in the signed contract.

For a patient in Jeddah: methods, guarantee and timeline

The procedure asks one day of a patient in Jeddah and nothing more dramatic than local anaesthesia. FUE and DHI make no cuts and leave no stitches, so recovery does not begin with wound care of that sort.

See also: FUE hair transplant cost Calgary

The first step for a resident of Jeddah costs nothing and happens online: you send photos of the thinning area, the doctor examines them and counts the grafts. The clinic answers 24/7, which falls inside your own waking hours.

You heal over 0-10 days. Later on, at 2-4 weeks, the transplanted hairs shed; it is normal and it undoes none of the work already done. Growth begins at 3-4 months, and what grows then is yours to keep.

How we prepare and review medical content · Medical disclaimer

Confirming a practitioner through SCFHS

Health professionals in Saudi Arabia register with SCFHS, the national body for health specialties, and Jeddah, with 3,751,722 people counted in 2022 (city and metropolis), falls under the same national register. SCFHS runs an electronic service that tells you whether a practitioner's professional registration is currently valid. Its own guide describes the service as free and instant.

The lookup works from an identifier rather than a name: a national ID, a residence permit number, a passport number or an SCFHS file number. The guide lists practitioners, trainees and institutions as its beneficiary categories. A patient can therefore ask the clinic for the details and run the check together, with the clinic's coordinator on the line while you watch the result appear.

Set that lookup beside the paper the clinic itself offers. A medical licence stands behind its work, and you may inspect the physicians' diplomas and certificates before paying. Among the specialists are a trichologist-surgeon for hair, a dermatovenereologist and a plastic surgeon, which raises a fair question: who handles each step? Have the answer typed into your plan.

Add one line to your notes: by the clinic's rule, the physician at your consultation is the physician in the operating room. Once the registry result, the diploma and the contract all carry the same name, the circle is closed. Should any of the three differ, write to the coordinator and ask for a plain explanation before moving on.

Reading your insurance schedule before anyone quotes a figure

The Basic Health Insurance Policy is issued by the Council of Health Insurance. It applies to people employed in the private sector, whether they are citizens or residents, and it states that surgeries are covered according to the policy schedule. That wording leaves a gap for patients considering a cosmetic operation: a policy may cover surgeries as a category without covering this one.

So the question for your insurer should be narrow. Ask whether the schedule lists hair restoration or aesthetic hair surgery, and ask for the answer by email or in the insurer's app, not by phone. If the schedule is silent, assume that nothing is covered and plan for private payment. Do not let a clinic or a friend tell you otherwise.

Whatever the insurer says, the contract with the clinic stands separately. The sum is set after the graft count and fixed in the contract, the reservation of the date takes a deposit by card at the clinic or online, and instalments are available for those who want them. Keep each of those items on its own line when you read the document.

The policy description lists consultations, diagnosis, treatment, medications and hospitalisation, including surgeries and day-case procedures, each according to the policy schedule. A hair transplant at this clinic is a day-case operation, which is exactly why the schedule, not the category, settles the question. Ask for the schedule itself and not a summary of it.

Finally, hair loss with a medical cause is a different conversation from a cosmetic wish. If you suspect an illness behind the thinning, see your physician first. The transplant doctor will say so as well, since the clinic prefers to tell a patient that surgery is not needed rather than sell one that does not help.

Scalp, beard or brows: settling the area first

Before any quote can mean something, the area has to be defined. A scalp transplant, a beard transplant and an eyebrow transplant use the same donor logic but different planning, and the clinic lists them as separate services.

On the scalp, a doctor examines the donor zone, which lies at the back of the head or at the temples, then counts the grafts and explains a realistic result. A beard is built from back-of-head grafts moved through micro-punctures near 1 mm that leave no scars, with the contour agreed in advance to suit your face. Brows begin with a drawn line and a review of reference photos, after which every hair is laid at its natural growth angle.

Three methods are available whichever area you choose. FUE relies on forceps and needs no incisions or stitches; DHI goes straight in with a Choi pen so no channels are cut first; the combined protocol harvests the one way and implants the other. Have the doctor name the method for your area and explain what led there.

Survival and trauma numbers in method comparisons are averages, given as a guide. Your own figures depend on the treated zone and on your individual features, and the doctor presents them at the consultation. Ask for them to be repeated in the written plan.

Photographs turn the discussion into something concrete. Shoot in daylight from above, ahead, left, right and behind, and note when the thinning started. Your coordinator forwards the set to a doctor, and the review is free of charge and commits you to nothing.

Contracts frighten people mostly because of their length. This one need not. Take a pen and mark six headings: parties, method, area and graft count, sum and what it covers, aftercare, and follow-up. If any heading has nothing under it, ask why.

Parties first. The services are provided by a named legal entity, and the clinic displays its own registration details. Ask for them in writing and keep a copy. Method and area come next, as agreed in the consultation, with the doctor named.

The sum and what it buys follow. The clinic's package holds a care plan for grafted and donor areas, instruction on shampooing, sleeping and covering the head, a sport and hair-care schedule, and the review visits. See each one as a printed line, not a remark made in conversation.

The operation needs one day, with local anaesthesia, and you leave for home afterwards. Ask early which tests are required and by when; the clinic lists them and helps you get them done, and finishing them ahead of time removes one source of stress.

After the signature, the contract is yours. Keep the PDF and the photographs sent during the consultation together, with dates, in a single folder. That folder becomes your reference for every later conversation with the coordinator.

Mapping the months after the operation

Few operations run on a timetable as long as this one, so seeing the whole route at once helps. Around ten days go to healing, as crusts come off and swelling settles. Between the second and fourth week the implanted hairs drop away, which sounds alarming yet is called a normal stage, since the follicles stay put.

New growth restarts at three to four months, thickness builds from six to nine, and full volume with a natural edge arrives at twelve to eighteen. Along that route the clinic books reviews after one, three, six, nine and twelve months, backed by the photographs you send to your personal coordinator.

Your own record makes each review more productive. Photograph identical angles in identical light, store each set under its date, and jot down what the doctor said, above all any instruction that changed since the previous visit. Over a year these notes tell the story better than memory can.

If a doubt arises between visits, send the photos and the question. Coordinators answer round the clock, and the quoted reply time for a first message is 15 minutes. You do not have to carry a worry until the next appointment.

What identifiers does the SCFHS check use?

A national ID, a residence permit number, a passport number or an SCFHS file number. The service is described as free and instant, and its users include practitioners, trainees and institutions.

Can I run the registration check myself?

SCFHS names practitioners, trainees and institutions as users of the service, so the practical route is to ask the clinic for the doctor's details and complete the check together.

Who issues the Basic Health Insurance Policy?

The Council of Health Insurance. It applies to private-sector employees, citizens or residents, and says surgeries are covered according to the policy schedule.

How do I find out whether my insurer would cover a hair transplant?

Put the question to the insurer in writing: does the schedule include aesthetic hair surgery? If not, budget for paying privately.

Is the planning different for a beard or eyebrows?

The areas differ in planning, so the doctor discusses the shape of a beard or the line of the brows with you beforehand, with your facial features in mind.

What should I send before a first review?

Photos of the thinning areas from above, in front, at the sides and behind, with a note on when the loss started. A coordinator hands them to a doctor.

What if I notice something between check-ups?

Send photos to your coordinator on WhatsApp or Telegram. Coordinators are reachable around the clock.
