FAQ
Rhinoplasty (nose job) — one of the most delicate and sought-after plastic surgeries, aimed at reshaping the nose in line with the individual proportions of the nose and the whole face. Modern rhinoplasty is not just an operation to change how the nose looks, but complex surgical work aimed at an aesthetic ideal without compromising health.
Yes. Nose job is the everyday name for rhinoplasty, plastic surgery of the nose. The surgeon can change its shape and, with rhinoseptoplasty, also correct a deviated septum to make breathing easier.

Ideally, patients are 18 to 45: the nose is fully formed and tissues still heal well. When there are medical indications, surgery can be done at an older age if general health allows
At its core, rhinoplasty is a comprehensive solution. It corrects both congenital and acquired nasal deformities, for example after a nasal injury. Patients are often bothered by a dorsal hump or an overly wide nose. Nose correction can also target the tip (tip rhinoplasty) or the nostrils (alar rhinoplasty). The surgical plan is created individually for each patient, taking every feature of their nose into account.
Rhinoplasty is performed under general anaesthesia and, depending on complexity, takes 1.5 to 3 hours.
The surgeon determines the extent and course of the surgery at the consultation, based on your goals and the anatomy of your nose.
Rhinoplasty — surgery to change the appearance of the nose (an aesthetic goal) and improve its function if breathing is impaired.
Septoplasty — surgery on the nasal septum to bring back normal breathing, leaving the outer contour of the nose unchanged.
Often both surgeries are combined, especially when a patient has a deviated septum and aesthetic concerns. This gives a harmonious look and restores full breathing. At City Medical Centre we perform rhinoseptoplasty — a combined surgery that solves both tasks at once
For a successful operation, preparation should begin 21 days before rhinoplasty. At the first appointment our plastic surgeon will give you a list of the required tests.

Pre-op preparation includes plastic surgeon consultations, lab tests (CBC, biochemistry, coagulation, infection tests), ECG, chest X-ray, and a nasal X-ray or CT. Anticoagulants, alcohol and smoking are stopped a week before surgery. The day before, eat lightly; fast 6 hours before surgery
Although nose surgery is one of the most popular and well-established aesthetic operations, like any surgery it carries certain risks. To minimise the likelihood of complications after rhinoplasty, our clinic provides thorough pre-operative preparation and post-operative monitoring.
Important: if after rhinoplasty you have difficulty breathing, severe pain, a high temperature or a change in the shape of your nose, contact your doctor immediately.
Rhinoplasty at City Medical Centre is performed with modern technology, safe materials and constant medical supervision, which keeps the risk of complications to a minimum.
We also provide post-operative monitoring and prescribe recovery therapy.
Recovery after nose surgery is just as important as the operation itself. Proper recovery determines how aesthetic and harmonious the final result will be. At City Medical Centre recovery is closely monitored and divided into three phases: early, intermediate and late
First improvements show once swelling subsides (2–3 weeks), but the final rhinoplasty result can be judged in 1–1.5 years, when tissues fully stabilise
The nose needs to be protected after surgery. An aluminium cast is placed over the nose, with special silicone splints inside the nasal cavity. Nasal function is limited in the first days but recovers quickly. The final result of rhinoplasty can be assessed after 1–1.5 years, once the swelling has fully subsided.
Important: if nasal function is impaired after the first operation or you are not satisfied with the result, revision (secondary) rhinoplasty may be needed. It is a more complex procedure, performed no earlier than one year after the primary operation.
During the first days after surgery, splints or swelling may partly block the nasal passages. Breathing is usually fully restored within 1–2 weeks, depending on the extent of surgery and your body
Our doctors use microsurgical techniques and quality sutures to keep scars minimal
Rhinoplasty harmonises facial features and enhances aesthetics without sacrificing individuality. Thanks to 3D modelling, you preview the predicted result and agree on the changes with your surgeon
Rhinoplasty is a serious step. A well-performed rhinoplasty means the new nose is in perfect harmony with your facial features and works flawlessly. At the consultation the nasal surgeon assesses every parameter in detail: the size of the nose, tip projection, and the condition of the septum and nasal mucosa. We use 3D modelling so you can see the future proportions of your nose before the surgery is performed.
Don't just browse rhinoplasty photos online. Book a consultation to discuss what modern rhinoplasty can and cannot do for you. Correcting external nasal deformities and reshaping the nose is our speciality.
How much it costs depends on the extent of surgery and is decided at the consultation: the doctor names the exact price after studying your nose and facial proportions.

Rhinoplasty, or nose job, reshapes the nose to fit the individual proportions of the face. It corrects congenital and acquired deformities, including changes after a nasal injury. Patients from Alicante most often ask about removing a dorsal hump, narrowing an overly wide nose, refining the tip or correcting the nostrils. Every surgery plan is created individually, taking into account all features of the nose.
The surgical plan is made at the first meeting: the surgeon examines the septum and breathing, builds a 3D or 4D model and agrees on the changes with you. Preparation with tests, a CT scan and specialist consultations follows. After the operation, a recovery course is prescribed. If you are planning rhinoplasty in Alicante, allow for one month without sport, alcohol or smoking.
If you are comparing rhinoplasty prices in Alicante, look at what is included. Here $4,200 (≈ €3,750) is the full figure for the operation with follow-up visits, dressings, inpatient stay and coordinator support, plus a lifetime guarantee on the result. Apply before the end of the year and the consultation is on the clinic. Fill in the short form to get started.

For a long time I was self-conscious about the length of my nose, until a friend who had had rhinoplasty recommended this clinic. At the very first consultation they set the date of surgery and explained every stage in detail. The rhinoplasty under general anaesthesia was performed by Mareta Meirieva: the swelling went down quickly, and after just a week my nose looked natural and neat. Modern equipment, attentive staff and appointments without delays made the whole process comfortable. I recommend the clinic to anyone who values professionalism and a quality result.

This was my first visit to the clinic, for rhinoseptoplasty, and to be honest I was very nervous. At the consultation they explained every stage of the operation and recovery in detail, which calmed me down straight away. The operation was performed by Mareta Meirieva: the swelling started to go down on the third day, and the result is visible to the naked eye. Everything inside is sterile and pleasant, the atmosphere inspires trust, and the staff are always responsive. I thank the clinic for the high level of service and the warm approach!

Everything was first-class: clean, cosy and calm. Booking and choosing the right date was easy. The nose operation went smoothly and the nerve block was done perfectly: now I breathe freely without nasal drops! It is a real lifesaver for anyone tired of endless prescriptions and ineffective procedures. I recommend it to everyone who values professionalism and results.

I recently had rhinoplasty and I am absolutely delighted. At the consultation they told me about every stage in detail, so I went into surgery fully prepared. The operation went smoothly: they straightened the bridge of my nose and made the nostrils symmetrical, and the shape came out very neat. The swelling lasted a little longer than I expected, but they explained straight away that full recovery takes more time. No unpleasant surprises, everything was within the normal range. I recommend the clinic to anyone looking for a confident result and an attentive attitude.

Alicante sits on a flat stretch of Mediterranean coast at an altitude of just 3 m, and its climate is classed as hot semi-arid. Over a year the city logs about 3,014 hours of sun, from 345 hours in July to 175 hours in December. Average humidity is 65 %. For anyone planning rhinoplasty, these numbers are more than small talk. They shape how you arrange the first weeks after the operation, because a nose in recovery meets wind, dry indoor air, bright light and changes of temperature in a very ordinary way.
The pattern of the year is easy to read. July and August are the warmest months, with average highs of 30.7 and 31.1 °C and nights of 21.3 and 21.8 °C. January is the coolest, with a high of 17.2 °C and a low of 6.7 °C. The record is 42.0 °C, set on 13 August 2022. Rain is rare: about 284.5 mm a year, falling over 34.7 days. September (51.1 mm) and October (33.1 mm) are the wettest months, and July is the driest at only 3.2 mm. A person scheduling surgery can therefore choose between a bright, hot period and a cooler, more changeable one, and each has its own practical points.
Your coordinator will not ask you to pick a season in the abstract. The consultation takes place online, so you can send photos on WhatsApp or Telegram from home, get the doctor's assessment and a 3D model of the future nose, and only then talk about dates. The service involves one day at the clinic under general anaesthesia, and the operation itself lasts 1.5 to 3 hours depending on complexity. Everything else, such as how many quiet days you want afterwards, how you will move around in the heat and when you want your face on show again, is decided by you together with the coordinator before a date is reserved.
Many people who write to us from Alicante start with the shape of the nose, such as a hump, a wide bridge or a bulbous tip. Many mention breathing in the second sentence. The rhinoplasty programme covers both. Primary rhinoplasty adjusts appearance and improves breathing when airflow is restricted. Rhinoseptoplasty combines correction of the septum with a change in the shape of the nose, and it is the option discussed when the septum is deviated. The doctor decides at the consultation which of the two fits you, after looking at photos and your anatomy.
Local weather gives you a few useful questions to bring to that conversation, though not conclusions. January lows of 6.7 °C mean that in the cooler months many homes and offices are heated, and a humidity of 65 % on average does not cancel out the dryness of heated rooms. If you are sensitive to seasonal allergens, or if your nose is blocked at certain times of the year, tell the coordinator in the first message. Do not try to guess what is happening. Whether the cause is the septum, the soft tissues or something unrelated to surgery, the doctor will say so openly. The same goes for the less welcome answer: if an operation is not needed, you will be told at the consultation.
Some conditions in the service programme are real reasons to postpone or decline surgery. They include infectious diseases, inflammation of the ears, throat, nose or eyes, blood clotting problems, skin damage in the area of the planned operation, decompensated chronic diseases and age under 18. A heavy cold or a flare-up of sinus trouble in the wet autumn months is something to report, not hide. The preparation list of tests (complete blood count, biochemistry, coagulation panel, chest X-ray and an X-ray of the sinuses) is there precisely so that a sensible decision can be taken before the day of the operation.
Preparation should begin 21 days before surgery, and some of the laboratory results have a validity of 2 weeks. If you know that the 21 days will run through a rainy September or a cold January, you can plan the appointments for the tests around the weather. Hot weather and long queues are poor companions for a person who is also tired from anxiety.
Alicante is a city of the sea. The municipal beaches include Postiguet in the city itself, San Juan, La Almadraba, Albufereta, Agua Amarga and El Saladar, and the island of Tabarca lies about 8 nautical miles to the south and has been protected since 1986. The sea averages 19.6 °C over the year, from 14 °C in February and March to 26 °C in August. After rhinoplasty the practical question is not whether the shore is lovely. It is how to arrange your first weeks so that sun, sand, water and glasses do not become a problem for the nose.
The service programme gives no rule on sunglasses, swimming or sun exposure, and we will not invent one. Take the questions to the doctor instead. When will glasses be comfortable on your face? How do you protect healing skin from bright light? When can you swim in the sea? Ask them at the online consultation and again at the 7-day check. A city with 345 hours of sun in July makes these questions practical rather than theoretical, and the answer will depend on your anatomy and the technique chosen.
One thing in the programme is easy to enjoy: the nasal splint comes in a choice of colours. You can pick purple, gold, green, light blue, pink, yellow, raspberry or carbon. It sounds like a small detail, but if your first days of recovery fall in a bright month, a colour you chose yourself makes a difference to how you feel about going out. Many people choose a neutral shade for the street and are content. Nobody is obliged to follow a fashion.
You will also find that planning for glasses is a good reason to speak up about habits. If you wear heavy frames every day, say so in your first message, so that the doctor can discuss it while planning the shape of the bridge and the recovery.
The most visible date in the local calendar is the Hogueras de San Juan, from 19 to 24 June, a festival of international tourist interest. A few days later come five nights of fireworks competitions on Postiguet beach. For some people that is the reason to consider rhinoplasty in the first place: a wedding, a graduation, a family celebration or simply a summer when they want to feel at ease in photographs. If your target is the Hogueras of June 2027, you have a clear deadline, and it is better to build the plan backwards from it than to hope that everything will fit.
Our service programme gives fixed points for follow-up: check-ups at 7 days, 3 months and 6 months, and free consultations with the doctor for a year afterwards. We do not state a day-by-day timeline for swelling, because it differs from person to person, and the doctor confirms the real extent of recovery at the consultation. What you can do is leave a comfortable margin. If you decide in November 2026, you have months before June, and the margin can be spent on preparation (the 21 days before surgery), on the date itself and on a quiet period afterwards. If you decide in spring, say plainly that June is your date, and the doctor will tell you whether it is realistic.
The city also has a large student population. The University of Alicante, founded in 1979, has its campus in Sant Vicent del Raspeig next to the city, and its figures run to more than 25,000 students. Many of our patients are 18 to 25, which is the lower part of the range the programme names as optimal (18 to 45). If you are a student, plan around the exam periods and term dates that matter to you, so that you can rest without worrying about lectures. Age under 18 is a contraindication, and the programme says surgery is done best between 18 and 45, when the nose has finished forming and tissues still heal well.
Whatever the occasion, do not leave the choice of date to the last minute. A date is reserved when the deposit is paid and the terms are written into the contract for medical services. Until then nothing is binding, and the free online consultation commits you to nothing.
People in Alicante sometimes ask whether this operation can be done through the public health system. The honest answer begins with the rules. The common portfolio of services of the Spanish national health system (Royal Decree 1030/2006) does not fund techniques whose purpose is mere aesthetic or cosmetic improvement. Procedures with an aesthetic purpose that have no link to an accident, an illness or a congenital malformation are excluded from specialist care. In practice, rhinoplasty chosen for the shape of the nose alone sits outside public funding. Where there is a medical reason, such as an injury or a breathing problem, the right first step is a conversation with your own family doctor, and our coordinators will not pretend to tell you how that route will go.
The waiting figures explain why many people look for another way even when a medical reason exists. At 31 December 2025, Plastic Surgery had the longest average wait of any specialty in the national system: 269 days. Across all specialties the average surgical wait was 121 days, and 21.6 % of patients waited more than six months, according to the initial publication (a later note corrected data from Castilla-La Mancha). In the Comunitat Valenciana, 51,600 patients were on the structural surgical waiting list, 9.91 per 1,000 inhabitants, with an average wait of 88 days.
Those are system-wide numbers, and they say nothing about your own case. We quote them only to put the choice in context, not to promote anything. What we offer is a different rhythm. You get a reply within 15 minutes, the consultation is free, and the 3D model and the plan are presented before you commit. The coordinators write to you on WhatsApp and Telegram round the clock, 24/7, so questions do not wait for a clinic to open.
The price is named by the doctor after the free consultation and is fixed in the contract, so you will know the amount before surgery and not after it. The programme includes the doctor's work, general anaesthesia, result modelling, the inpatient stay, meals, follow-up visits and dressings, consumables and the support of a personal coordinator for 12 months.
The programme states no rule that rules out a season, and we will not invent one. July and August are the warmest months, with average highs of 30.7 and 31.1 °C, and the sun shines about 345 hours in July. These conditions affect how comfortable the first quiet days are, not whether the operation can be done. Tell the coordinator your preferred month, and the doctor will say at the consultation whether anything in your health or your plans argues for another date.
The programme gives no fixed date for swimming, so the doctor will answer for your case at the consultation and at the 7-day check. The sea averages 19.6 °C over the year, and it is coldest, 14 °C, in February and March, so even healthy swimmers stay out of the water in those months. Ask about sea water, sun on the face and glasses together so that you get one clear plan.
Not in itself. September (51.1 mm) and October (33.1 mm) are the rainiest months, but the annual total is only 284.5 mm over 34.7 days, so most days are dry. The test list includes a complete blood count, biochemistry, a coagulation panel, a chest X-ray and an X-ray of the sinuses, and preparation starts 21 days before surgery. The one condition that matters is that you are not ill: tell the doctor about inflammation of the nose, throat, ears or eyes.
Starting in November 2026 or soon after leaves a comfortable margin. The Hogueras run from 19 to 24 June, and the programme includes preparation 21 days before the operation, one day at the clinic and check-ups at 7 days, 3 months and 6 months. The doctor confirms at the consultation how realistic your date is. Do not compress the schedule to reach a particular celebration.
If the purpose is purely aesthetic, no. The common portfolio of the national health system (Royal Decree 1030/2006) excludes techniques of mere aesthetic or cosmetic improvement unless they are linked to an accident, an illness or a congenital malformation. If you have a breathing problem or an injury, the right first step is to talk to your family doctor. For the private route, send photos for a free assessment and a 3D model, with no commitment.
The programme names 18 to 45 as the optimal age, because the nose has finished forming and tissues still heal well, and age under 18 is a contraindication. If you are 18 or over, the next step is a photo assessment. Mention your exam periods and the dates when you need to be fully active, and the coordinator will help you pick a quiet window.
Yes. At the online consultation the doctor makes a 3D model of the future result and explains the course of the operation. It is free, it comes before any commitment, and you can ask for a different technique or a different degree of change. Send photos on WhatsApp or Telegram, and a coordinator will reply within 15 minutes and fix a time convenient for you.
The difference lies in what has to be corrected. Rhinoplasty changes the appearance of the nose and improves breathing when airflow is restricted. Rhinoseptoplasty also corrects the septum, and it is the option discussed when the septum is deviated. The final decision is taken by the doctor after looking at your photos and anatomy, and the plan and price are written into the contract.
