Nose reshaping in Palma: a practical guide

Many people consider a nose job because of a hump, a wide bridge or a tip they want to refine; others because they cannot breathe freely. Rhinoplasty addresses both aesthetics and function. For residents of Palma, it is worth knowing that bone and cartilage are corrected with an ultrasonic piezo device, which keeps trauma to tissue and vessels to a minimum.

Recovery has early, middle and late phases. During days 1–3 you breathe through your mouth, and swelling and bruising may appear. Internal splints come out on day 7; the aluminium splint and stitches are removed by day 14. For a month, avoid exercise, saunas, pools and sun, and sleep on your back half-sitting. Patients from Palma get care advice at every stage.

How much is a nose job in Palma? The base price is $4,200 (≈ €3,750) for the full package — from the operation itself to follow-up visits and dressings. The final amount depends on the extent of surgery and is set once the surgeon has examined your nose and facial proportions. Leave your name and phone number, and a coordinator will book your free consultation.

What patients write after this operation. Reviews are translated from the original language.

Ekaterina Ivanova

For a long time I was self-conscious about the length of my nose, until a friend who had had rhinoplasty recommended this clinic. At the very first consultation they set the date of surgery and explained every stage in detail. The rhinoplasty under general anaesthesia was performed by Mareta Meirieva: the swelling went down quickly, and after just a week my nose looked natural and neat. Modern equipment, attentive staff and appointments without delays made the whole process comfortable. I recommend the clinic to anyone who values professionalism and a quality result.

Rhinoplasty

Olga Vasilyeva

This was my first visit to the clinic, for rhinoseptoplasty, and to be honest I was very nervous. At the consultation they explained every stage of the operation and recovery in detail, which calmed me down straight away. The operation was performed by Mareta Meirieva: the swelling started to go down on the third day, and the result is visible to the naked eye. Everything inside is sterile and pleasant, the atmosphere inspires trust, and the staff are always responsive. I thank the clinic for the high level of service and the warm approach!

Rhinoplasty

Marina Samarina

Everything was first-class: clean, cosy and calm. Booking and choosing the right date was easy. The nose operation went smoothly and the nerve block was done perfectly: now I breathe freely without nasal drops! It is a real lifesaver for anyone tired of endless prescriptions and ineffective procedures. I recommend it to everyone who values professionalism and results.

Rhinoplasty

Viktoria Petrova

I recently had rhinoplasty and I am absolutely delighted. At the consultation they told me about every stage in detail, so I went into surgery fully prepared. The operation went smoothly: they straightened the bridge of my nose and made the nostrils symmetrical, and the shape came out very neat. The swelling lasted a little longer than I expected, but they explained straight away that full recovery takes more time. No unpleasant surprises, everything was within the normal range. I recommend the clinic to anyone looking for a confident result and an attentive attitude.

Breathing first: the nose and Palma's damp, mild air

Palma sits at 13 m above sea level in the middle of the bay on the south coast of Mallorca. The Serra de Tramuntana rises to the north and west, and the fertile plain of Es Pla lies to the east. The climate is classed as warm semi-arid. The annual mean is 18.5 °C, and the mean relative humidity is 72 %. Anyone who already struggles to breathe through the nose will notice that kind of air, and the consultation usually begins with exactly that complaint.

Rhinoplasty at City Medical Centre is not only about shape. The primary operation adjusts appearance and also improves breathing when airflow is restricted. The list of problems it addresses includes a deviated septum, marked breathing difficulties, nasal polyps and an injury to the nose. If you live in Palma and one nostril feels blocked in humid weather or in a cool January, tell the coordinator before anything else. Mention it again when you send photos. A picture shows a hump or a wide bridge, but it cannot show how you breathe at night.

When the septum is part of the problem, the doctor may suggest rhinoseptoplasty instead. It combines correction of the septum with a change in the shape of the nose, and it is done in one session. Septoplasty alone changes the inner structure and keeps the outer contour. Rhinoplasty alone changes the outer shape and improves function where breathing is impaired. Which one fits is decided at the free online consultation, from your photos, your description and the doctor's questions. You do not have to choose the name of the operation yourself.

A practical point about local weather: Palma's mildest months are January and February, with daytime highs around 15.7 °C and lows of 8.5 and 8.4 °C. That is the coldest the city gets. These are comfortable temperatures for a person with a splint, and nobody needs to be shielded from the heat. The fact sheet we use does not cover pollen or the heating season, so we say nothing about them. If you know that certain seasons make your nose worse, say so at the consultation. The doctor can then take it into account when planning the date.

Some conditions mean the operation has to wait. Inflammation of the ears, throat, nose or eyes is one of them. A cold that has settled in the sinuses is another reason to postpone, and the doctor will say so openly. That is why the pre-operative tests include an X-ray of the sinuses. Scheduling an operation in a month when you tend to be unwell wastes everyone's time, so be honest about your usual pattern.

Sun, glasses and the frontal edge of the hair: when the face is on show

Palma gets 2,858 hours of sun a year. July alone brings 353 hours and December 152. That sets the rhythm of a face in the open air. Sunglasses, a hat and a long day on the water all affect how you will want to spend the first weeks after a nose operation. The facts on file say nothing about how long glasses must be avoided. The doctor will explain that for your case, and we do not invent a number here.

What you can plan is the visible part of the process. After the operation you wear a nasal splint, and at City Medical Centre you can pick its colour: purple, gold, green, light blue, pink, yellow, raspberry or carbon. People often treat this as a joke, but it does help with the mood of the first days. Choose something that does not clash with the clothes you will be wearing around the house.

Think about when your face is most on show, and the calendar helps. Look at your own year. Do you have an event, an exam period or a work presentation you would like to be past before the splint comes off? Do you plan to be on the beach? The bathing season in Palma, at Platja de Palma and elsewhere, runs for about six to seven months, from the end of April to the beginning of November. The sea is warmest in August at 26.0 °C. In June it averages 22.5 °C and in September 25.0 °C. If a swim matters to you, ask the doctor at the consultation when water and sun exposure will be sensible in your case. The answer depends on your recovery, and we avoid promising a date.

The practical advice is to start earlier than you think. The preparation starts 21 days before the operation. After the operation the doctor books check-ups at 7 days, then at 3 and 6 months. Those three points help you see when the nose is truly settled. Put your important dates on the calendar and tell the coordinator about them in your first message. A realistic plan is built backwards from the occasion.

Another small point concerns glasses. If you wear heavy frames every day, mention it. The weight of a frame on the bridge is something to raise at the consultation, because the doctor knows how the tissue behaves in the early period. Contact lenses are a simpler option for some people, but that is an individual question too.

How the one-day stay and the checks fit into a Palma schedule

The operation takes 1.5 to 3 hours under general anaesthesia, and then you stay at the clinic for one day. All procedures happen in the clinic's inpatient unit. Meals at the clinic, dressings and follow-up visits are part of the package, and there is a personal coordinator for each stage. One coordinator helps before the first consultation, another is with you from booking to discharge, and a third supports you through recovery. For a person living in Palma, the first steps happen from home. You send photos on WhatsApp or Telegram, and the free online consultation follows. Coordinators answer round the clock, so a message sent late in the evening does not wait until morning.

Before the date is reserved, the doctor makes a 3D model of the future result at the consultation. This is a forecast, not a promise. It lets you see the direction of the change and decide whether you like it. Surgery can only go ahead after you confirm the plan, and the date is reserved once the deposit is paid and the terms are in the contract for medical services. The price is named by the doctor and fixed in the contract. We keep figures off this block on purpose.

The tests are listed on our page for rhinoplasty: a complete blood count, biochemistry, a coagulation panel, a chest X-ray and an X-ray of the sinuses. At the first appointment the doctor gives you the exact list with time limits. You can book these through your usual routes at a time that suits you. Because Palma is a city with a large university community and many working people, Universitat de les Illes Balears alone has 15,789 students in the 2022–23 academic year. Many people here balance study or work with other obligations. The practical point is that you can plan the tests around your timetable. Do them early, because some results have a short validity period.

After the operation, the check-ups at 7 days, 3 months and 6 months give the recovery a structure, and consultations remain free for a year afterwards. If something worries you in between, the coordinator who is supporting your recovery answers questions and books the follow-up visits. This is less about rules and more about knowing who to message when the nose feels strange on day four.

A word on who may not be suitable. The list of contraindications includes infectious diseases, cancer, mental health disorders, decompensated chronic diseases, blood clotting problems, skin damage in the area of the planned operation and age under 18. The optimal age range is 18 to 45. If you fall outside it for medical reasons, the doctor can still discuss your case, provided your general health allows. If surgery is not actually needed, you are told this at the consultation.

Why waiting lists in Spain matter when you plan a nose operation

Many people in Palma first ask whether the public system could handle their nose. The national common portfolio of services of the Spanish health system excludes techniques whose purpose is "mere aesthetic or cosmetic improvement". Procedures with an aesthetic purpose that are not linked to an accident, illness or congenital malformation are excluded from specialist care. So a purely cosmetic rhinoplasty is outside public health provision. Whether a breathing problem or an injury changes the picture in your case is something the public health system itself can tell you. We do not pretend to judge it.

The waiting figures are worth knowing in any case. On 31 December 2025, the surgical waiting list of the national health system held 853,509 patients, with an average wait of 121 days, and 21.6 % had waited more than six months. Plastic surgery was the specialty with the longest average wait: 269 days. In the Balearic Islands, 17,075 patients were in structural surgical waiting, which is 13.62 per 1,000 inhabitants, with an average of 105 days. For first specialist consultations nationally, the average wait was 102 days.

None of this says that the public route is a poor choice. It says that people who want to plan an operation around a date, an exam or an event find a private timetable easier to control. At City Medical Centre the date is reserved with a deposit and fixed in the contract. The timetable is set with you, not for you. If you are considering both options, ask the coordinator to explain the order of steps. Then compare for yourself.

One more consideration is that Spain's health survey found 82.9 % of people aged 15 and over in the Balearic Islands rated their health positively in 2020, the highest share in the country. A healthy population often means patients arrive well prepared, and good general health is a requirement for a calm anaesthetic. If you are among them, say so in the first message, and mention any chronic conditions honestly. If you have one that is not under control, the doctor needs to know early.

Planning swelling, the splint and the first quiet weeks

The first days after the operation are quiet ones. Swelling and the splint are normal parts of the process, and the doctor explains what to expect for your case. We do not state numbers of days for swelling because they depend on anatomy and technique. The recovery times and benefits shown on our pages are typical averages for general guidance only. Your real recovery is confirmed by the doctor.

What you can organise yourself is the setting. Palma's autumn is the wettest season. October is the rainiest month, with 72.6 mm, followed by November with 67.8 mm and September with 60.5 mm. July is the driest, with only 5.1 mm. Annual precipitation is 470.1 mm over 53.6 days. If you plan the operation for late autumn, you will spend the early recovery indoors, with grey skies and damp streets. Some people prefer that, because there is less reason to go out. Others would rather have a calm, bright winter. Average highs in October are 24.0 °C and lows are 16.8 °C. In April the highs are 19.7 °C and lows 12.2 °C. Neither extreme is a problem for recovery, so the choice is mostly about your own mood and your calendar.

Here is a short list of things to prepare at home before you go for the operation:

- a second pillow or a wedge, if the doctor advises sleeping with the head raised;

- soft food and drinks that do not need much chewing;

- clothes that open at the front, so nothing has to be pulled over the head;

- a few days without appointments, work meetings or video calls on camera;

- a phone with the coordinator's chat open.

Do not clean or adjust the splint beyond what you are told. If in doubt, message the coordinator and send a photo. The doctor decides what is normal, and that is much better than guessing at two in the morning.

If you had an earlier nose operation and are not satisfied, the revision procedure exists. It is performed no earlier than a year after the primary one. The doctor first needs to see the photos and hear what bothers you. It is a repeat correction after an unsuccessful or partly successful result, and the plan is different from the first one.

Does the humid Palma air make recovery from a nose operation harder?

The mean relative humidity in Palma is 72 %, and the annual mean temperature is 18.5 °C. Nothing in the facts we hold says that this climate makes recovery harder. The doctor decides how to manage the early period, and the recovery programme you receive after the operation is based on your anatomy and technique. If you notice that damp weather already affects your breathing, tell the coordinator in your first message. It helps the doctor plan.

Which months in Palma are the wettest, and does that matter for choosing a date?

October is the rainiest month, with 72.6 mm, followed by November with 67.8 mm and September with 60.5 mm. July is the driest, with 5.1 mm. Rain does not affect the operation itself, which happens indoors during a one-day stay. It may matter for how you spend the first quiet days at home. Some people like an overcast month because they stay in. Others prefer sunnier weather. It is a personal choice, and the coordinator will help you fit it around the 21-day preparation period.

How should I plan around sun and beach season?

Palma has 2,858 hours of sun a year, and the bathing season runs from the end of April to the beginning of November. The sea averages 22.5 °C in June and 26.0 °C in August. After a nose operation, the doctor tells you when sun exposure and swimming are sensible in your case. We do not give a fixed number of weeks, because it depends on your recovery. If a holiday or an event matters to you, say so at the free online consultation so the date can be planned backwards from it.

Will the Spanish public health system cover a cosmetic nose operation?

According to the national common portfolio of services, techniques whose purpose is only aesthetic or cosmetic improvement are not financed. Procedures with an aesthetic purpose that are not linked to an accident, illness or congenital malformation are excluded from specialist care. If your case includes a breathing problem or an injury, ask the public health system how it would assess you. At City Medical Centre the doctor names the price after the consultation and fixes it in the contract.

How long would I wait in the public system compared with planning it myself?

At the end of December 2025 the national average wait for surgery was 121 days. Plastic surgery had the longest average, 269 days. In the Balearic Islands the average surgical wait was 105 days. These numbers describe the public system in general and do not predict any individual case. With City Medical Centre, you agree the date with the coordinator and the doctor, and it is fixed once the deposit is paid and the contract is signed.

Can I do the tests in Palma before the operation?

The required set is a complete blood count, biochemistry, a coagulation panel, a chest X-ray and an X-ray of the sinuses. At the first appointment the doctor gives you the exact list with the period each result stays valid. Preparation starts 21 days before the operation, so there is time to arrange the tests around your own schedule. Send the results to your coordinator, who will check that nothing is missing.

What if I have a cold or a blocked nose on the planned date?

Inflammation of the ears, throat, nose or eyes is on the list of reasons that the operation is not suitable. If you feel unwell as the date approaches, write to your coordinator straight away. The doctor decides whether to go ahead or move the date. Postponing for health reasons is normal, and it is better than operating on an inflamed nose.

Is rhinoplasty only for appearance, or can it help breathing too?

Both are possible. The primary operation adjusts appearance and improves breathing when airflow is restricted. If the septum is deviated, rhinoseptoplasty combines correction of the septum with a change in the nose's shape. Send photos and describe how you breathe, and the doctor will say which option fits you at the free consultation.
