Rhinoplasty in Gdansk from consultation to final shape

Rhinoplasty covers several procedures. Tip rhinoplasty targets the nasal tip, alar rhinoplasty the nostrils, septorhinoplasty the septum together with the outer shape, and revision surgery corrects an earlier unsuccessful result. Revision is more complex and is done no earlier than a year after the primary operation. The plan for each person from Gdansk is built around their anatomy and wishes.

Here is the route in short: consultation with a 3D forecast, a full lab work-up confirming there are no contraindications, the operation, a day in the inpatient unit and then a recovery course with swelling relief and nose monitoring. Mild congestion may persist for 1–1.5 months. Nasal breathing usually returns within 1–2 weeks for patients in Gdansk.

Budgeting for rhinoplasty is straightforward: $4,200 (≈ PLN 16,500) covers the surgeon's work, the stay in the inpatient unit, check-ups and dressings, and a dedicated coordinator. There is no separate bill for the first consultation. For Gdansk patients, this is the moment to ask about timing, recovery and contraindications and receive clear answers before committing. The consultation is non-binding.

What patients write after this operation. Reviews are translated from the original language.

Ekaterina Ivanova

For a long time I was self-conscious about the length of my nose, until a friend who had had rhinoplasty recommended this clinic. At the very first consultation they set the date of surgery and explained every stage in detail. The rhinoplasty under general anaesthesia was performed by Mareta Meirieva: the swelling went down quickly, and after just a week my nose looked natural and neat. Modern equipment, attentive staff and appointments without delays made the whole process comfortable. I recommend the clinic to anyone who values professionalism and a quality result.

Rhinoplasty

Olga Vasilyeva

This was my first visit to the clinic, for rhinoseptoplasty, and to be honest I was very nervous. At the consultation they explained every stage of the operation and recovery in detail, which calmed me down straight away. The operation was performed by Mareta Meirieva: the swelling started to go down on the third day, and the result is visible to the naked eye. Everything inside is sterile and pleasant, the atmosphere inspires trust, and the staff are always responsive. I thank the clinic for the high level of service and the warm approach!

Rhinoplasty

Marina Samarina

Everything was first-class: clean, cosy and calm. Booking and choosing the right date was easy. The nose operation went smoothly and the nerve block was done perfectly: now I breathe freely without nasal drops! It is a real lifesaver for anyone tired of endless prescriptions and ineffective procedures. I recommend it to everyone who values professionalism and results.

Rhinoplasty

Viktoria Petrova

I recently had rhinoplasty and I am absolutely delighted. At the consultation they told me about every stage in detail, so I went into surgery fully prepared. The operation went smoothly: they straightened the bridge of my nose and made the nostrils symmetrical, and the shape came out very neat. The swelling lasted a little longer than I expected, but they explained straight away that full recovery takes more time. No unpleasant surprises, everything was within the normal range. I recommend the clinic to anyone looking for a confident result and an attentive attitude.

All patient reviews

Page medically reviewed by Marina T. Pershikova, rhinoplasty surgeon. Review date: .

A January afternoon on the Gulf of Gdańsk and what it means for a nose

Gdańsk lies on the Gulf of Gdańsk, where the Motława runs into the Vistula. For planning a nasal operation, the useful part is the climate. The WMO figures give a January daily maximum of +1.4 °C and a minimum of -3.4 °C. The whole winter day therefore stays within a spread of about 4.8 °C, close to freezing. In July the average maximum is +21.0 °C, which is 19.6 °C warmer than in January. A nose that has just been reshaped meets both kinds of air at some point in the year, and each is worth thinking about before a date is fixed.

Cold air is the first point. When the nose has been operated on for a deviated septum, breathing is one of the main reasons for the operation. The service description lists marked breathing problems and a deviated septum among the situations in which rhinoplasty addresses the problem. Rhinoseptoplasty is the combined operation that corrects the septum and changes the shape of the nose. If you choose that format, your first breaths of freely moving air will come in a city where the January air is only just below zero. The doctor will go through this with you during the consultation, together with how you breathe now.

Inflammation is the second point. Among the contraindications, the list names inflammation of the ears, throat, nose or eyes. In practice this means a cold that has settled in the nose is not a trivial detail. If you tend to catch one every winter, tell the coordinator when you first write. Then the doctor can ask you to send photos and describe your symptoms, and the date can be chosen with that in mind. Nobody can promise a cold-free month in Gdańsk. What you can do is bring the information to the conversation early.

The third point is how you plan the days around the operation itself. The procedure takes 1.5 to 3 hours under general anaesthesia, and you stay one day at the clinic. After discharge you receive a recovery programme. That programme is written for the person who will be recovering, so tell the coordinator whether you will spend those first days at home near the bay, with family, or somewhere else in the Tricity area. The more concrete the picture, the easier it is for the coordinator to arrange things so the follow-up check-ups fit your week.

Your online consultation requires nothing but a phone. You send photos of the nose to the coordinator on WhatsApp or Telegram, and replies come within 15 minutes. The coordinators are available round the clock, so you can write in the evening after work and have an answer waiting before the next day begins.

Light, glasses and the sun: reading the Gdańsk calendar

The same climate data contain a set of numbers that matter for anyone thinking about a splint, glasses and sun on a healing nose. Sunshine in Gdańsk, averaged for 1991-2020, reaches 259 hours in June. In October it is 105 hours, in November 45 hours, and in December only 32 hours. June has about eight times as much sunshine as December. The difference between June and December is 227 hours. The UV index reaches 5 in both June and July.

What does this mean in practice? The service description does not give a rule about sun exposure, so I will not invent one. It does say that the doctor sets the extent of the correction and the course of recovery individually. Ask about sun and glasses at the consultation. The question is easy to put by message: "I wear glasses every day, and I am planning surgery in the dark months. What should I expect?" The doctor can answer based on your anatomy and the technique chosen.

There is a planning logic that comes from the numbers themselves. If the operation is arranged in the dark months, such as November or December, there is much less sunlight in the calendar than in June. Choosing that period is a personal decision. It might suit someone who does not want to deal with strong light on a healing face. Another person might prefer the longer days of early summer for a different reason. Neither choice is medically better in itself, and the doctor will not claim otherwise. What the numbers show is simply how different the two ends of the year are.

Glasses are a separate matter from the sun. The nasal bridge is exactly the part that corrective frames rest on. If you have worn the same pair for years, you may want to raise it during the consultation. Ask whether you should plan a period without frames on the nose, and what alternatives exist. The doctor explains the course of rhinoplasty individually, and you are free to ask anything related to daily life. The consultation is free and carries no obligation to go ahead with surgery.

A small cosmetic detail also exists in the process, and it is nothing like a standard grey dressing. The clinic offers a choice of nasal splint colours: purple, gold, green, light blue, pink, yellow, raspberry and carbon. It is a minor feature, but those who are going to spend recovery days wearing the splint often prefer to pick the shade themselves. Mention your choice to the coordinator early, so it is noted when the date is set.

Dates, public holidays and the days when the face is on show

Planning a rhinoplasty is partly planning your calendar. Polish law gives 1 November, 11 November and, since 1 February 2025, 24 December as days free from work. Other public holidays include Easter Monday and 24, 25 and 26 December. For a patient living in Gdańsk, these dates form natural markers. They also create some reasons for caution.

Take the autumn of 2026 as an example. 1 November falls on a Sunday and 11 November on a Wednesday. If you are thinking of a consultation soon after, a message sent on 12 November 2026 will be answered within about 15 minutes, because coordinators work round the clock. The online format means a public holiday does not close the conversation. Still, the date of surgery itself is something to agree on carefully, since the schedule of the clinic and your own commitments both matter.

Think backwards from the event you want to be ready for. If there is a wedding, a family gathering or a work presentation that matters to you, tell the coordinator the date. The doctor will not make promises about how quickly swelling goes down, because the service description states that recovery times are typical averages for general guidance only. Your anatomy and individual features determine the real extent of correction and recovery. What the coordinator can do is lay out the fixed milestones: tests in advance, one day at the clinic, then the check-ups at 7 days, 3 months and 6 months. You then place your event in relation to those points and ask the doctor whether the gap is reasonable.

Preparation matters here too. The service description says preparation should begin 21 days before rhinoplasty, and a list of required tests is provided at the first appointment. Before the operation you need a complete set of laboratory tests: complete blood count, biochemistry and a coagulation panel, plus a chest X-ray and an X-ray of the sinuses. Count 21 days back from the date you prefer. If your preferred date is in the week after a public holiday such as 24 December, the preparation period runs through the busy days before it. That is a practical reason to start the conversation well ahead.

It also helps to recall that on holidays like 24 to 26 December, many people gather with relatives. If you prefer to recover mostly in private, that is another factor to weigh against the schedule. There is no correct answer. What helps is writing down your constraints before the consultation. Then the doctor can respond to a concrete plan instead of a general wish.

Who is in the room: Gdańsk and the wider Tricity area

Gdańsk has 487,371 inhabitants. It belongs to the Tricity, together with Gdynia and Sopot. One source gives the Tricity figure as 760,463 inhabitants as of 1 January 2024. Another gives the urban area as 960,000 people and the metropolitan area as 1,090,000 in 2024. The difference between the two urban-area figures comes from different definitions of what counts as the area. Gdańsk itself makes up roughly half of the 960,000 urban total, about 50.8%.

Why does this matter for a rhinoplasty page? Because the person reading may live in Gdańsk, Gdynia, Sopot or the surrounding municipalities. The consultation is online, so the exact town hardly changes anything about the first stage. You send photos, you receive a doctor's assessment, and you get a 3D model of the future result at no charge. The model is discussed before you commit to anything. For someone in a metropolitan area of about 1.09 million, this means the decision can be made at home, without arranging an appointment slot in a waiting room.

The coordinators work in a set order. One is your first contact, from the first message to the consultation. The second is with you before and during your stay, from booking to discharge. The third supports you through recovery, from discharge to your final check-up. Because you may be in any part of the Tricity, ask the coordinator to explain how follow-up check-ups at 7 days, 3 months and 6 months will be organised for you. The doctor remains available for free consultations for a year after the operation.

There is also the Telegram community of the clinic's patients. It is described as a members-only channel for people who value honest, expert information. If you want to hear how others coped with planning around their jobs, families and seasons, it is a place to ask. Remember that every patient has individual anatomy, so a story is an illustration and not a forecast.

Public cover, referrals and the questions to settle before the operation

Many patients in Poland wonder about the National Health Fund, the NFZ. The information on its patient pages makes a few points that are worth keeping in mind. Services outside its list are not financed. For services on the list, a referral is needed for outpatient specialist care and for hospital treatment. That is a general statement about how the system works. It does not say whether any particular nasal operation falls inside or outside the list.

For that reason, I will not tell you that your operation is or is not covered. If your main reason is breathing, for example a deviated septum, the question of public cover may reasonably come up in your own case. Ask your family doctor or the NFZ directly, and ask the coordinator what the online consultation can document for you. The online consultation here is free, and the rhinoplasty at City Medical Centre is a separate arrangement set out in a contract. The contract states the terms of surgery, support and follow-up beforehand. The doctor names the final price after the consultation, and it is fixed in the contract.

A sensible preparation list for the conversation might include:

- photos of your nose from several angles, which you send on WhatsApp or Telegram;

- notes on how you breathe through each nostril, and whether you have had a nasal injury;

- any ongoing inflammation of the ears, throat, nose or eyes, since it is a contraindication;

- any blood clotting problems, which also appear among the contraindications;

- your previous nasal operations, if any, since revision rhinoplasty is performed no earlier than a year after the primary one.

Age matters as well. The service description gives the optimal age as 18 to 45, and people under 18 are not suitable. If medically indicated, surgery can be done later in life, provided general health allows.

A separate question is how to choose the type of operation. The clinic classifies rhinoplasty as primary, revision or rhinoseptoplasty, and also offers reconstructive options. A primary rhinoplasty adjusts appearance and improves breathing where airflow is restricted. A revision corrects a previous result. Rhinoseptoplasty combines septum correction with a change in shape. In Gdańsk, as anywhere else, the choice should come from your anatomy and your goals, not from a calendar. The doctor will confirm it at the consultation.

From the first message to the one day at the clinic

It helps to see the order of events from a Gdańsk patient's perspective. First, you write to the coordinator. Second, the doctor assesses your nose and your wishes and builds a 3D model. Third, you agree the plan and the contract. The operation date is reserved once the deposit is paid, by card at the clinic or online by bank transfer, with the terms confirmed in the contract for medical services. Fourth come the tests. Fifth is the operation: under general anaesthesia, 1.5 to 3 hours depending on complexity. Sixth, you spend one day in the inpatient unit and are discharged with a recovery programme.

The service description states that the stay includes meals at the clinic, follow-up visits and dressings, and personal coordinator support. It also lists all necessary consumables, result modelling and the doctor's work. Support runs for 12 months.

If you live in the Tricity, the question of getting yourself to the clinic and back is a matter to discuss with the coordinator. Ask whom to contact if a question comes up in the evening. The answer is the same each time: the coordinators reply round the clock.

Finally, expectations. The service text is careful to say that recovery times and benefits are typical averages. It is also clear that if surgery is not actually needed in your case, the doctor will say so during the consultation. That is a useful way to read the whole process: a free conversation first, an honest answer, and only then a decision.

Does the cold Gdańsk winter matter when choosing a date for rhinoplasty?

The WMO figures give a January average maximum of +1.4 °C and a minimum of -3.4 °C, so winter days stay close to freezing. Nothing in the service text sets a temperature rule, so the doctor decides individually. What does matter is that inflammation of the ears, throat, nose or eyes is a contraindication. If you often have a blocked or inflamed nose in cold months, say so when you first write, and the doctor can take it into account when the date is agreed.

I wear glasses every day. Should I raise this before the operation?

Yes. The nasal bridge is where frames rest, and the service text gives no specific rule about glasses, so it is a question for the doctor during the consultation. The consultation is free and online, and you can simply write that you wear glasses daily. The doctor can then explain what to expect in your case, based on your anatomy and the technique chosen.

Is the amount of sunshine in Gdańsk relevant to the timing?

It is a matter of personal preference, not a medical rule from the service text. Climate data for 1991-2020 show 259 sunshine hours in June, 105 in October, 45 in November and 32 in December, with UV index 5 in June and July. June therefore has about eight times as much sunshine as December. If you want to plan recovery in a darker or brighter period, tell the coordinator, and ask the doctor whether anything in your case argues for or against a particular month.

How do public holidays in Poland affect planning?

Public holidays include 1 November, 11 November, 24 December (a day off since 1 February 2025), Easter Monday, and 25 and 26 December. The online consultation is not interrupted by them, because coordinators work 24/7. The date of surgery is another matter, since preparation should begin 21 days before and tests must be done in advance. Count back from your preferred date and allow for the holiday periods when labs and your own schedule may be affected.

Will the NFZ pay for my rhinoplasty?

The NFZ information says that services outside its list are not financed, and that for listed services a referral is needed for outpatient specialist care and hospital treatment. It does not say whether a given nasal operation is covered. If your main reason is breathing, ask your family doctor or the NFZ about your own case. At City Medical Centre the terms are set out in a contract after the free consultation.

I live in Gdynia or Sopot, not in Gdańsk. Does it change anything?

For the first stage, no. The consultation is online, and you send photos by WhatsApp or Telegram from wherever you are in the Tricity area. The Tricity has 760,463 inhabitants by one count as of 1 January 2024, and Gdańsk has 487,371 of them. Ask the coordinator how the check-ups at 7 days, 3 months and 6 months will be arranged for you.

How early should I start if I have an event in mind?

Start with the event date and count back. Preparation should begin 21 days before the operation, and the tests include a complete blood count, biochemistry, a coagulation panel, a chest X-ray and an X-ray of the sinuses. The doctor cannot promise a specific recovery speed, since the service text says times are typical averages for general guidance only. Share the date with the coordinator and ask the doctor whether the gap is realistic.

Can I choose the colour of the nasal splint?

Yes. The options are purple, gold, green, light blue, pink, yellow, raspberry and carbon. Mention your preference to the coordinator early, so it is noted when the date is arranged.
