FAQ

Rhinoplasty:
your questions answered

Rhinoplasty (nose job) — one of the more delicate and frequently requested plastic surgeries, meant to adjust the nose's shape to the individual proportions of the nose and the whole face. Modern rhinoplasty is not merely a procedure to change how the nose appears, but complex surgical work aimed at an aesthetic ideal without risking health.

Rhinoplasty in Belfast: price and what is included

Prices are in US dollars; the amount in brackets is an approximate conversion to GBP at the rate of 02.10.2026. The final price is fixed in your contract.

How much does rhinoplasty in Belfast cost?

Prices start from $4,200 (≈ £3,200). The surgeon sets the final price at the free consultation, and it is fixed in the contract, with no hidden extras.

What is included in the price?

The operation under general anaesthesia, a one-day inpatient stay, follow-up visits and dressings, plus a lifetime guarantee on the result.

How long do the procedure and recovery take?

Surgery takes 1.5–3 hours and you stay one day in the clinic. The nasal splints come out on day 7, and the cast is worn for up to 14 days.

Is the first consultation free?

Yes. The first consultation is free and does not oblige you to anything. You can start online by sending a message to the coordinator.

Rhinoplasty in Belfast: questions patients ask

Can rhinoplasty also improve breathing through the nose?

When breathing is impaired, the surgeon can combine the cosmetic correction with septum surgery (rhinoseptoplasty). The need for it is assessed at the consultation, not promised in advance.

Can I book a rhinoplasty consultation for a specific date?

Yes. Send us the date you have in mind on WhatsApp or Telegram. The first consultation is free, and you can start it online with photos of your nose; the clinic then confirms the nearest available dates for the consultation and the operation before you plan anything.

I am not happy with my first rhinoplasty. What can be done?

Revision (secondary) rhinoplasty can correct it, but no earlier than a year after the first surgery. It is a more complex operation; the surgeon decides on it after reviewing your photos and history.

How long before a wedding or holiday should rhinoplasty be done?

At least 2–3 weeks before. Splints are removed on day 7, the cast and stitches on day 14, and most swelling goes down in 2–3 weeks. Some swelling of the tip can last longer; the final result takes 1–1.5 years.

How does the surgeon assess my nose before the consultation?

From photos of your nose you send to the coordinator in the chat. Mention past nose operations or blocked breathing; the doctor uses this to say whether rhinoplasty is right for you.

When can I get back to my daily routine in Belfast after rhinoplasty?

The first 24 hours after surgery are spent in the clinic, and the first check-up is on day 7. The surgeon tells you when you can go back to work and your usual routine.

Can I get a rhinoplasty consultation without leaving Belfast?

Yes. The first consultation is free and starts online: send photos of your nose (front, profile and three-quarter view) on WhatsApp or Telegram, and the surgeon reviews them and explains what can be changed and the price.

Everything about rhinoplasty for Belfast patients

Many people consider a nose job because of a hump, a wide bridge or a tip they want to refine; others because they cannot breathe freely. Rhinoplasty addresses both aesthetics and function. For residents of Belfast, it is worth knowing that bone and cartilage are corrected with an ultrasonic piezo device, which keeps trauma to tissue and vessels to a minimum.

Recovery has early, middle and late phases. During days 1–3 you breathe through your mouth, and swelling and bruising may appear. Internal splints come out on day 7; the aluminium splint and stitches are removed by day 14. For a month, avoid exercise, saunas, pools and sun, and sleep on your back half-sitting. Patients from Belfast get care advice at every stage.

How much is a nose job in Belfast? The base price is $4,200 (≈ £3,200) for the full package — from the operation itself to follow-up visits and dressings. The final amount depends on the extent of surgery and is set once the surgeon has examined your nose and facial proportions. Leave your name and phone number, and a coordinator will book your free consultation.

What patients write after this operation. Reviews are translated from the original language.

Ekaterina Ivanova

For a long time I was self-conscious about the length of my nose, until a friend who had had rhinoplasty recommended this clinic. At the very first consultation they set the date of surgery and explained every stage in detail. The rhinoplasty under general anaesthesia was performed by Mareta Meirieva: the swelling went down quickly, and after just a week my nose looked natural and neat. Modern equipment, attentive staff and appointments without delays made the whole process comfortable. I recommend the clinic to anyone who values professionalism and a quality result.

Rhinoplasty

Olga Vasilyeva

This was my first visit to the clinic, for rhinoseptoplasty, and to be honest I was very nervous. At the consultation they explained every stage of the operation and recovery in detail, which calmed me down straight away. The operation was performed by Mareta Meirieva: the swelling started to go down on the third day, and the result is visible to the naked eye. Everything inside is sterile and pleasant, the atmosphere inspires trust, and the staff are always responsive. I thank the clinic for the high level of service and the warm approach!

Rhinoplasty

Marina Samarina

Everything was first-class: clean, cosy and calm. Booking and choosing the right date was easy. The nose operation went smoothly and the nerve block was done perfectly: now I breathe freely without nasal drops! It is a real lifesaver for anyone tired of endless prescriptions and ineffective procedures. I recommend it to everyone who values professionalism and results.

Rhinoplasty

Viktoria Petrova

I recently had rhinoplasty and I am absolutely delighted. At the consultation they told me about every stage in detail, so I went into surgery fully prepared. The operation went smoothly: they straightened the bridge of my nose and made the nostrils symmetrical, and the shape came out very neat. The swelling lasted a little longer than I expected, but they explained straight away that full recovery takes more time. No unpleasant surprises, everything was within the normal range. I recommend the clinic to anyone looking for a confident result and an attentive attitude.

Damp air, 156 wet days and a nose that has to keep up

Belfast sits at the mouth of the River Lagan, at the head of Belfast Lough, and the water opens through the North Channel to the Irish Sea. Met Office normals for the city show 938.7 mm of precipitation a year, spread over 156.2 days. When roughly every third day brings some rain, damp air is part of ordinary life. That matters for anyone thinking about rhinoplasty. The nose is the first organ air passes through, and if breathing is already restricted, a cold, wet autumn tends to make it more noticeable.

The wettest stretch runs from October to December. November is the heaviest month, with 102.3 mm over 15.5 days, followed by October at 95.8 mm and December at 93.3 mm. The treatment plan says a primary rhinoplasty adjusts both appearance and breathing when airflow is restricted, and that rhinoseptoplasty combines septum correction with a change in nasal shape. Those two lines are the useful starting point if you notice that your nose blocks up every time the weather turns. During the free online consultation, send photos and describe when the difficulty is worst. Is it on one side or both? Does it ease outdoors or get worse in a heated room? The doctor uses this to decide whether a shape-only operation is enough or whether the septum should be part of the plan.

The sky over the city tells its own story. The same normals give 1,277.0 hours of sunshine a year. May is the sunniest month at 185.1 hours, then April at 157.1 and June at 151.1. December has only 35.3 hours and January 40.1. A planning habit follows from this. People with winter schedules often want the quiet, grey weeks for recovery, and the dull months do mean less glare on a healing nose. Others prefer spring, when the light is longer and the first weeks of recovery do not fall in the darkest part of the year. Neither choice is more correct than the other. It depends on your calendar, and the coordinators on WhatsApp and Telegram can help you lay the options side by side.

The temperature range is mild. The annual mean is 9.9 °C, with a mean maximum of 13.7 °C and a mean minimum of 6.3 °C. January is the coldest month, with a mean maximum of 8.2 °C, and February has a mean minimum of 2.1 °C. Summer stays gentle: July, the warmest month, has a mean maximum of 19.7 °C and a mean minimum of 11.6 °C, and August reaches 19.4 °C. There are few extremes, so the main seasonal question is not heat but indoor air. Heating season, from the colder months into spring, tends to dry the air in flats and offices. Ask the doctor during the consultation how to look after the nose in dry indoor air and in cold, damp air outdoors. Do not improvise with sprays or rinses before you have been told what is appropriate.

Frames on a healing nose: what to arrange before the operation

Glasses are the practical detail most people forget until the week of the operation. After rhinoplasty the nose carries a splint, and the bridge, where frames normally rest, is exactly where the doctor wants no extra pressure. If you wear glasses every day, tell the coordinator and the doctor at the first consultation. Raise it early, because it affects the plan for the days at home. Some people arrange a spare pair of contact lenses in advance, or ask about an alternative that does not sit on the bridge. Others plan the weeks around screen work they can do without correction. The doctor will explain during the consultation what is acceptable for your anatomy and your technique. Do not rely on a forum post for this.

Sun matters too, even though Belfast summers stay under 20 °C. A July mean maximum of 19.7 °C does not sound alarming, but long spring and summer days, with May averaging 185.1 hours of sun, still produce glare. A fresh scar line and a swollen nose are better off shaded. Planning for a brimmed hat or simply shorter walks on bright days is reasonable. Avoid acting on a general rule you read elsewhere, and ask the doctor which precautions apply to you.

The splint is also part of the visual side of recovery. The clinic lets you choose its colour: purple, gold, green, light blue, pink, yellow, raspberry or carbon. It sounds like a small detail, yet it gives the first days a bit of character. If you spend those days at home you may not care, but if you plan a quiet walk along the Connswater Community Greenway, which offers 16 km of continuous cycle and walkway through east Belfast, a calmer colour may suit you better. Whether and when walking is suitable is a question for the doctor, not for a route map. The point is that the Greenway and similar paths give you a flat, undemanding place to go once you are cleared for light activity. Cycling, running and contact sport are a separate conversation, and you should raise it directly.

Before any of this, there is preparation. The treatment plan says preparation should begin 21 days before rhinoplasty, and that at the first appointment the doctor gives you a list of the required tests. The list includes a complete blood count, urinalysis and infection tests, and the process also lists biochemistry, a coagulation panel, a chest X-ray and an X-ray of the sinuses. In practical terms that means roughly three weeks in which you should avoid starting anything new without asking. Count backwards from the date you want and you will see why people who choose a date early have fewer rushed weeks.

Choosing a window in the Belfast calendar

Belfast's year has fixed points that shape when people want their face to look settled. The Belfast Marathon is run annually on May Day, and the 2023 edition was the 41st, with about 15,000 participants across its events. If you run, or if you simply have family on the route, you may want the nose out of the splint well before the next May Day. St Patrick's Day on 17 March has been celebrated in the city centre since 1998, and it is also one of Northern Ireland's bank holidays. Belfast Pride culminates in a city-centre parade at the end of July. The Féile an Phobail community festival draws over 100,000 visitors. These dates are not reasons to hurry. They are simply anchors that help you count backwards.

The same logic applies to the bank holidays. GOV.UK lists 10 bank holidays for Northern Ireland in 2026, including St Patrick's Day on 17 March and the Battle of the Boyne substitute day on 13 July, in addition to the England and Wales set. Bank holidays mean days when the diary is already empty, and a short working week can reduce the number of days you have to take off. If you are planning for 2027, check the official list for that year once it is published, because the dates move.

A useful exercise is to write the event you care about, then subtract. If you want to feel settled by a family event in late spring, the starting point is the date of that event. From it you subtract recovery, the three-week preparation, the time needed to complete tests, and the time to fix the operation date. The treatment plan sets check-ups at 7 days, 3 months and 6 months, so you should also look at whether those days fall on something you cannot move. For an event in the first half of 2027, a consultation in late November 2026 leaves comfortable room to model the result, choose a technique and complete the tests without pressure.

Remember that a result continues to settle over a long period, and the treatment plan is careful to say recovery times and benefits are typical averages for general guidance. Your anatomy determines the real extent of correction and the real course of recovery. For that reason, treat a festival date as a rough target and not as a promise. The doctor confirms what is realistic at the consultation. If you are unsure, tell the coordinator the date, and ask what could be moved.

Breathing first: septum, sinus X-ray and the NHS line

For many people in Northern Ireland, the first question is whether the problem is cosmetic or functional. The NHS states that cosmetic surgery is not routinely provided on the NHS, but that it might pay for some procedures for psychological or other health reasons, with rhinoplasty named as an example when you have breathing problems. It also says most people who want cosmetic surgery need to pay privately. This is useful for orientation. It means that a clearly functional problem is something to discuss with your GP, and that a purely aesthetic wish is usually handled privately. This is general information, not advice on your eligibility, and you should speak to your GP about what applies to you.

The treatment plan lists the conditions that rhinoplasty tackles: nasal polyps, a bulbous nasal tip, asymmetric cartilage or nostrils, a deviated septum, marked breathing problems, a wide bridge, a pronounced hump, a saddle nose and nasal injury. It also lists situations where the operation is not suitable. These include infectious diseases, cancer, age under 18, decompensated chronic diseases, blood clotting problems, skin damage in the planned area, and inflammation of the ears, throat, nose or eyes. One line in that list deserves attention in a damp climate. Inflammation of the nose, throat, ears or eyes is a contraindication. If you have a cold that never quite clears in a wet November, the doctor needs to know, because it may change the timing.

This is also where the difference between rhinoplasty and septoplasty becomes practical. Rhinoplasty changes the appearance of the nose and improves function if breathing is impaired. Septoplasty corrects the septum and restores normal breathing while leaving the external contour intact. Often both are combined, and the clinic performs rhinoseptoplasty, a combined operation that solves both tasks at once. If you cannot tell which description fits you, send photos on Telegram and describe your breathing. The doctor will say whether rhinoplasty suits you, at no cost and with no commitment.

Two points about expectations. First, the doctor makes a 3D model of the future result at the consultation, which gives you something concrete to react to. The model is a forecast, not a promise. Second, the optimal age given in the treatment plan is 18 to 45, when the nose has finished forming and tissues still heal well. If medically indicated, the operation can be done later in life, provided general health allows. The operation is carried out under general anaesthesia and, depending on complexity, takes 1.5 to 3 hours, followed by one day at the clinic.

Planning the weeks: lecture halls, offices and quiet days

Belfast has a large student population. Queen's University Belfast, a Russell Group university, has over 25,000 students. Ulster University has a city campus in the Cathedral Quarter, and Belfast Metropolitan College has over 53,000 students enrolled on full- and part-time courses. If you study, the academic calendar is probably the strongest constraint on your plan. Exams, presentations and group projects are moments when you do not want to be self-conscious or short of energy. Many students therefore look at the gap after exams, or at a long break, and work backwards. Ask your coordinator how the check-ups at 7 days, 3 months and 6 months would fall against your term dates, and whether a different start date would make them easier to attend.

The same applies to working life. The city's population is 351,927 according to the 2025 figure for the Belfast district, with 704,406 recorded in the greater metropolitan area in 2021. A city of that size has plenty of workplaces where being seen matters: reception desks, classrooms, client meetings, hospitality. Tell your employer only what you want to tell them. What you do need is a realistic plan for the days when the splint is on and your face is swollen. Think about how much of your work is visible, and how much can be done from home.

Belfast is compact enough that the hills are visible from many streets. The basalt escarpment to the north and north-west includes Divis Mountain at 478 m, Black Mountain at 389 m and Cavehill at 368 m, with the Castlereagh and Hollywood hills to the south-east. A city with that much high ground close by makes it tempting to imagine a hill walk as a reward for finishing recovery. Do not rush it. Steep climbs, cold wind and exertion are all matters to check with the doctor, who can say when they are sensible for you. Flat routes such as the Greenway are a gentler step. National Cycle Route 9 to Newry starts in Belfast, but cycling is something to leave for later and to confirm with the doctor.

The recovery programme is built around support. After the operation you receive a recovery programme, check-ups at 7 days, 3 and 6 months help monitor recovery, and doctor consultations remain free for a year afterwards. Three coordinators work in sequence: one before the first consultation, one before and during the stay, and one through recovery to the final check-up. They are reachable round the clock on WhatsApp and Telegram. For someone planning around a busy working or study life, being able to send a question at an odd hour and receive an answer is more than a convenience. It means a swollen nose on a Sunday evening does not have to wait until Monday.

A last point on revision. If you have had a previous operation and are unhappy with the result, the treatment plan says a revision rhinoplasty is performed no earlier than a year after the primary one. This is a medical timeline and not a sales device. Send photos and the date of your earlier operation, and the doctor will tell you whether it is too soon.

Does Belfast's wet weather change how I should plan the weeks after rhinoplasty?

It can affect the planning, though not the operation itself. With 938.7 mm of precipitation over 156.2 days a year, and November the wettest month at 102.3 mm over 15.5 days, many days are damp, so short outdoor trips are easier to schedule around the weather. The doctor will explain during the consultation how to protect the splint and the nose in rain and cold air. Follow that advice and not general tips.

Is spring or autumn a more sensible season to schedule the operation?

There is no single answer. Spring has more daylight, with May the sunniest month at 185.1 hours, and April and May are also the driest months at 60.4 mm and 59.6 mm. Autumn and early winter are wetter and darker, with December at only 35.3 hours of sun, which some people prefer for a quiet recovery. Choose according to your work, study and events, then ask the coordinator to count back from those dates, including the 21 days of preparation.

How early should I begin if I want to look settled for the Belfast Marathon on May Day or for Pride at the end of July?

Start by counting back from the event. Allow for the free online consultation and the 3D model, the 21 days of preparation and tests, and the time to fix an operation date. The check-ups at 7 days, 3 and 6 months should also fit your diary. A consultation in late November 2026 leaves comfortable room for a spring event in 2027. The doctor confirms what is realistic for your anatomy, because recovery times in the description are typical averages and not promises.

Can the NHS pay for rhinoplasty if I have trouble breathing through my nose?

The NHS states that cosmetic surgery is not routinely provided, but that it might pay for some procedures for psychological or other health reasons, and it gives rhinoplasty for breathing problems as an example. It also says most people who want cosmetic surgery need to pay privately. Whether you qualify is a matter for your GP. If you choose to go ahead privately, send photos and describe your breathing, and the doctor will say whether septum correction through rhinoseptoplasty is relevant.

I wear glasses all day. What should I raise during the consultation?

Mention it at the first consultation, because frames normally rest on the bridge, which is where the splint sits after the operation. The doctor will explain what is acceptable for your technique and anatomy, and you can discuss alternatives such as contact lenses in advance. Bring up screen time and reading as well, since they affect how you plan the first days at home.

I have a cold that keeps returning in the damp months. Does that affect the date?

It can. The treatment plan lists inflammation of the ears, throat, nose or eyes among the situations where the operation is not suitable, and the tests before surgery include a complete blood count and an X-ray of the sinuses. Tell the coordinator if you have had a persistent cold or congestion, because the doctor may move the date until it settles. Do not self-treat in a way that masks symptoms before the tests.

As a student, how do I fit the check-ups into term time?

With over 25,000 students at Queen's University Belfast alone and many more in other institutions, term calendars are a common constraint. The recovery plan includes check-ups at 7 days, 3 months and 6 months, and doctor consultations stay free for a year. Send your term dates to the coordinator and ask which start date puts those checks in quieter weeks.

When could I return to walking the Connswater Greenway or the hills?

The doctor decides this, and it depends on your technique and healing. The Greenway offers 16 km of continuous walkway through east Belfast, which makes it a gentle, flat option for later, while the hills such as Cavehill at 368 m involve more exertion. Ask for specific guidance at the consultation and again at the 7-day check-up.
