Rhinoplasty (nose job) — one of the most intricate and popular plastic surgeries, intended to reshape the nose so it matches the individual proportions of the nose and the whole face. Modern rhinoplasty is more than an operation to alter the nose's look — it is complex surgical work aimed at an aesthetic ideal that does not compromise health.

About nose surgery for patients from Nice

Modern nose surgery is more than a cosmetic change: it is complex work aimed at an aesthetic result without harming health. For those in Nice with breathing problems as well as aesthetic concerns, septorhinoplasty combines septum correction and reshaping in one operation. That way the look becomes harmonious and full nasal breathing is restored at the same time.

First visible results appear after about two weeks, and full healing takes around four months on average. The nose settles into its final shape over 1–1.5 years, so seeing your surgeon during this period matters. Until the end of the year, Nice patients can have a free post-op consultation where the doctor evaluates the outcome, monitors recovery and answers questions.

How much is a nose job in Nice? The base price is $4,200 (≈ €3,750) for the full package — from the operation itself to follow-up visits and dressings. The final amount depends on the extent of surgery and is set once the surgeon has examined your nose and facial proportions. Leave your name and phone number, and a coordinator will book your free consultation.

Patient reviews

What patients write after this operation. Reviews are translated from the original language.

Ekaterina Ivanova

For a long time I was self-conscious about the length of my nose, until a friend who had had rhinoplasty recommended this clinic. At the very first consultation they set the date of surgery and explained every stage in detail. The rhinoplasty under general anaesthesia was performed by Mareta Meirieva: the swelling went down quickly, and after just a week my nose looked natural and neat. Modern equipment, attentive staff and appointments without delays made the whole process comfortable. I recommend the clinic to anyone who values professionalism and a quality result.

Rhinoplasty

Olga Vasilyeva

This was my first visit to the clinic, for rhinoseptoplasty, and to be honest I was very nervous. At the consultation they explained every stage of the operation and recovery in detail, which calmed me down straight away. The operation was performed by Mareta Meirieva: the swelling started to go down on the third day, and the result is visible to the naked eye. Everything inside is sterile and pleasant, the atmosphere inspires trust, and the staff are always responsive. I thank the clinic for the high level of service and the warm approach!

Rhinoplasty

Marina Samarina

Everything was first-class: clean, cosy and calm. Booking and choosing the right date was easy. The nose operation went smoothly and the nerve block was done perfectly: now I breathe freely without nasal drops! It is a real lifesaver for anyone tired of endless prescriptions and ineffective procedures. I recommend it to everyone who values professionalism and results.

Rhinoplasty

Viktoria Petrova

I recently had rhinoplasty and I am absolutely delighted. At the consultation they told me about every stage in detail, so I went into surgery fully prepared. The operation went smoothly: they straightened the bridge of my nose and made the nostrils symmetrical, and the shape came out very neat. The swelling lasted a little longer than I expected, but they explained straight away that full recovery takes more time. No unpleasant surprises, everything was within the normal range. I recommend the clinic to anyone looking for a confident result and an attentive attitude.

Damp winters, dry Julys: what the air of Nice means for a nose that already struggles

Nice sits on the Mediterranean, and its air is not simply "warm". In the 1991-2020 averages, the January mean high is 13.3 °C and the low 5.8 °C. July is 27.5 °C by day and 20.8 °C at night, and August is slightly warmer at 27.9 °C and 21.1 °C. The yearly mean high is 19.8 °C. Snow is almost a curiosity, at 1.1 days a year on average. The record high of 37.7 °C was set on 1 August 2006. For someone who notices their nose more in one season than another, these swings give a useful frame for a conversation, although they decide nothing on their own.

Humidity is the figure most relevant to breathing. Relative humidity in Nice averages 71.3% over the year, about 67% in January and 75% in May. Rain is concentrated in autumn. Annual precipitation is 791.3 mm over 62.1 days with at least 1 mm. November is the wettest month with 138.4 mm, followed by October with 127.9 mm, while July (13.6 mm) and August (17.2 mm) are the driest. If you have noticed that your nose feels more blocked in damp, grey weeks, write down when. Note whether it is one side or both, and whether it is worse at night. Such notes help the doctor at the online consultation separate a structural cause from a passing one.

That distinction matters because rhinoplasty at City Medical Centre is described as an operation that adjusts appearance and improves breathing when airflow is restricted. Rhinoseptoplasty is the combined version, which corrects the septum and changes the shape of the nose together. A deviated septum is listed among the indications. The doctor decides during the consultation whether your complaint is about shape, about airflow, or both. Weather does not change the anatomy, but it can make a long-standing problem more visible.

One practical point comes from the list of reasons the operation may not be suitable. Inflammation of the ears, throat, nose or eyes is on it. If you are in the middle of a cold or an infection when you message the coordinators, say so. The doctor will tell you how that affects timing. Do not try to decide it yourself from a calendar of wet and dry months.

Send photos from the front, the side and slightly from below, in daylight and without filters. Add a few lines about your breathing in different weather. Coordinators answer round the clock on WhatsApp and Telegram, so the first assessment does not have to wait for a particular day.

Fitting the swollen weeks around Carnival, the cycling season and public holidays

A rhinoplasty is not an operation you slip in unnoticed. The medical side is one day at the clinic after general anaesthesia, and the operation itself takes 1.5 to 3 hours depending on complexity. The visible side is the recovery programme, with a nasal splint and the follow-up checks at 7 days, 3 months and 6 months. Because of this, many people plan around dates when they want to be on show, and Nice has plenty of them.

The Nice Carnival runs in February and sometimes into early March, as a two-week event with records going back to 1294. The article about it speaks of over a million visitors a year. If you picture yourself in photographs at Carnival, work backwards. Decide first how much time you want between the operation and the first big gathering. Then ask the doctor what to expect at each follow-up point. We do not promise that the nose will look a certain way on a certain day. Swelling and healing differ from person to person, and the clinic describes its recovery times as typical averages for general guidance only.

The same logic applies to the Paris-Nice cycling race, which finishes in the city, and to the Nice Jazz Festival. The source lists the festival among the city's events but does not give a month, so check the current dates yourself before you plan around it. OGC Nice plays in Ligue 1, so match evenings are part of the sporting calendar too. If you play or train regularly, tell the coordinator, and ask the doctor when it is reasonable to return to your usual activity. We give no numbers here because the information we hold does not include any.

France has 11 public holidays: 1 January, Easter Monday, 1 May, 8 May, Ascension, Whit Monday, 14 July, 15 August, 1 November, 11 November and 25 December. Several of them fall in spring, which in practice makes some weeks short. If you have a fixed working calendar, mark these days. They matter less for the operation, which is scheduled with the clinic, than for the weeks around it, when you may want fewer meetings. The online format helps here, because the consultation and the follow-up conversations with coordinators can happen from home.

Students form a large part of the city's population. Côte d'Azur University is credited with about 35,000 students in one place and nearly 30,000 in another, with no year given. The university has existed in Nice since 1965 and under its current name since 25 July 2019. The clinic's optimal age range is 18 to 45, and under 18 is listed among the contraindications. A young adult who is studying can still plan around teaching and exam periods in the same way as an employee plans around work. Only the doctor can say whether a particular date makes sense medically.

Light, sea water and the weeks with a splint

Nice has a lot of light. The annual total is 2,760.5 hours of sunshine, with July at 349.3 hours and December at only 145.2. That is a large difference between summer and winter. If you wear glasses or sunglasses every day, bring this up in the first conversation. The weight of a frame on the bridge of the nose is a real consideration after surgery on that exact area. We have no figures on how long to avoid them, and we will not invent any. The doctor will tell you at the consultation what to do about glasses during recovery, and the coordinators will remind you.

The splint itself is part of the plan. The clinic lets patients choose its colour from a short list: purple, gold, green, light blue, pink, yellow, raspberry and carbon. This is a small detail, but people in a sunny city often care about how they look in the weeks after an operation, and a splint in a colour you like feels less like a medical device. It does not change the medical purpose of the splint. The doctor will tell you how long it stays on and how to look after it.

The sea is another question people in Nice ask. Monthly mean sea temperatures are 13.4 °C in January and 14.6 °C in April, rising to 23.1 °C in July and 23.6 °C in August, the peak, with a yearly mean of 17.9 °C. These figures describe the water, not the rules for your nose. For swimming, sun exposure and hot weather, ask the doctor for instructions suited to your recovery stage. Do not rely on general advice from the internet. At the consultation, mention what you do in summer, whether that is swimming, sailing, walking by the water or just being outside. The plan is built around your habits, not only around the operation.

The Paillon, the river that was covered over, now follows the route of a tram line through the centre. We mention it because the city's flat central stretches matter in a more ordinary way too. Short walks are part of ordinary recovery for many people, and the doctor will say what is reasonable at each stage. We do not claim any particular route is better. If you live in the dense centre, where the commune's population density is 4,974 per km2, or higher up in the surrounding area, tell your coordinator how you get around. Practical details like this shape the advice about the first days at home.

Public cover in France and what usually happens with a nose operation

Health cover in France is wide. According to the English-language article on the system, 99.9% of the population is covered. The main fund covers 84% of the population, the system generally refunds 70% of most costs, and about 85% of people hold complementary private insurance (a mutuelle). Some of these figures are dated, so check with your own fund.

Aesthetic surgery done "for personal comfort" is not paid for by Sécurité sociale. The insurer-site article we used describes exceptions. One is grave psychological or social harm, such as protruding ears. The other is medical criteria, and a deviated septum is the example given for the nose. In those cases the operating doctor files a prior agreement request (entente préalable) with the fund's medical adviser. It is deemed accepted if there is no reply within 15 days. The same article says the exception applies to a public or conventionné establishment only. Reparative surgery after an accident, illness or malformation is covered by Assurance Maladie, most often in full.

What does this mean for you? First, there is no way to know in advance, from a distance, whether your case falls into one category or the other. The coordinators will not guess and will not promise coverage. Second, the clinic's consultation is free and without obligation, so you can ask your questions without committing to anything. Third, if you hope for reimbursement because of breathing problems, contact your insurer or fund yourself and ask in writing how they would assess your case, what documents they need and whether the place where the operation is done changes anything. Keep the reply with your papers.

One more number worth knowing is the waiting time. A Commonwealth Fund survey from 2010, which is old, found that 53% of specialist appointments took place within a month and 28% took more than two months. It also reported that 46% had elective surgery within a month and 7% waited four months or more. Because these figures are old and national, we use them only to say that waiting times in the public system have been a topic. We do not claim that the same applies today in Nice.

The total scale of the system is also stated: in 2020 the general regime had 59.2 million beneficiaries, and CNAM insured 88% of the population. In 2015, reimbursements were 76.8% of care spending. The point for you is simple. Public cover is broad but does not treat all nose operations the same way, and your own situation determines the outcome.

From photos on WhatsApp to the day at the clinic: how the process reads from Nice

The process begins with photos. You send them on WhatsApp or Telegram, and the doctor gives a free assessment. At the consultation the doctor makes a 3D model of the possible result, explains the course of the operation and names the final price. That price is then fixed in the contract. You confirm the plan and dates before anything is booked, and the first consultation carries no obligation.

The date is reserved once the deposit is paid, by card at the clinic or online by bank transfer, with the terms confirmed in the contract for medical services. Preparation should begin 21 days before the operation. At the first appointment the doctor gives you a list of required tests. They include a complete blood count, biochemistry, a coagulation panel, a chest X-ray and an X-ray of the sinuses. Keep the dates of your tests in your phone, and ask the coordinators to remind you.

On the day, you stay at the clinic for one day after general anaesthesia. The stay includes meals, dressings and the clinic's own monitoring. After discharge you get a recovery programme. Check-ups take place at 7 days, 3 months and 6 months, and consultations with the doctor remain free for a year afterwards. A personal coordinator supports you before, during and after, and answers questions at any hour.

For a person living in Nice, the most useful preparation is organisational. Pick a period when you can be reachable and rested. Agree with your employer or your studies in advance. Tell your family or a close friend what the plan is. Check the public holidays above, and the dates of the events you care about. Then take the dates to the consultation and say clearly which of them are fixed and which can move. The doctor will not answer in terms of a calendar. The answer will be about your anatomy and the technique chosen. But your calendar helps decide when to start.

If, after assessing your photos, the doctor sees that the operation does not solve your problem, you will be told so. The clinic states plainly that rhinoplasty is not for everyone. That is the main reason to use the free first step before making any decision.

Does the damp Nice autumn affect when I should plan a rhinoplasty?

The climate figures show that October and November are the wettest months, at 127.9 mm and 138.4 mm, and that humidity averages 71.3% over the year. Nothing in the medical information we hold ties the operation date to rainfall, so the weather is not a rule. What matters is your health on the day. Inflammation of the nose, throat, ears or eyes is a reason to postpone, and the doctor will tell you what applies in your case. Use the weather only as a prompt to note when your nose feels worse.

I mostly notice nasal blockage in one season. Should I mention it?

Yes. Write down when it happens, which side is affected and whether it changes at night. The doctor uses this together with your photos to judge whether the problem is structural, such as a deviated septum, or something else. If a deviated septum is part of the picture, rhinoseptoplasty, which corrects the septum and the shape together, may be discussed. The final decision is made at the consultation, not from a message exchange.

Can I plan the operation so that I look ready for the Nice Carnival?

You can plan around it, but we cannot promise how the nose will look on a particular date. The Carnival runs in February and sometimes into early March for two weeks. Recovery times shown by the clinic are typical averages for general guidance only, and your anatomy determines the real course. Tell the coordinator which date matters, then ask the doctor at the consultation how the check-ups at 7 days, 3 months and 6 months fit around it.

Will I need to avoid glasses and sunlight, given how sunny Nice is?

Nice gets 2,760.5 hours of sunshine a year, so it is a fair question. We hold no specific numbers for how long glasses or sun exposure should be limited, so we will not invent them. The doctor will give instructions for your recovery during the consultation and the coordinators will repeat them. If you wear glasses daily, mention it from the first message so that it is part of the plan.

Will French public health insurance pay for my rhinoplasty?

It depends on the reason. Aesthetic surgery for personal comfort is not paid for by Sécurité sociale. The exceptions described in the insurer-site article are grave psychological or social harm, or medical criteria such as a deviated septum, and they require a prior agreement request. It is deemed accepted if there is no reply within 15 days, and the article says it applies to a public or conventionné establishment only. Ask your fund and your mutuelle in writing how they would treat your case. Our coordinators cannot promise reimbursement.

How should I prepare tests and paperwork before the operation?

Preparation should begin 21 days before. At the first appointment the doctor gives you the list of tests. They include a complete blood count, biochemistry, a coagulation panel, a chest X-ray and an X-ray of the sinuses. Your coordinator reminds you about tests and check-ups, and helps with documents and bookings. Keep the results together and send them when asked.

Which public holidays should I keep in mind when choosing dates?

France has 11 public holidays: 1 January, Easter Monday, 1 May, 8 May, Ascension, Whit Monday, 14 July, 15 August, 1 November, 11 November and 25 December. They do not change the medical plan, but they can shorten the working weeks around it. Share the dates that are fixed in your own diary, and the coordinator will help find a slot for the consultation. Reaching the coordinators is possible round the clock on WhatsApp and Telegram.

Can I choose the colour of the nasal splint?

Yes. The clinic offers purple, gold, green, light blue, pink, yellow, raspberry and carbon. The colour is a matter of taste and has no effect on the medical purpose of the splint. How long it stays on and how to care for it are explained by the doctor, based on your operation.
