How it works
An agreed plan for the correction, observation in hospital and recovery monitoring for a year.
1After assessing your figure and discussing your wishes, the surgeon chooses the best volume, shape and correction method.
2Your surgery date is reserved for you: the deposit can be paid by card at the clinic or online by bank transfer, and the terms are fixed in the medical services contract
3A complete pre-operative check-up comes first: blood tests, an ECG and the other examinations prescribed by your doctor.
4Mammoplasty is performed according to your individual plan. The surgery is done under general anaesthesia while your condition is monitored throughout.
5After surgery you stay in the clinic's comfortable inpatient ward under the care of the medical team until discharge.
6After surgery you receive a recovery programme. Check-ups at 7 days, 3 and 6 months track your progress, and consultations with your surgeon are free for a year.

Follow a few simple rules before surgery: balance work and rest sensibly, sleep more, avoid stress, anxiety and strong emotions, and scale back physical activity.
At least one month before the procedure, oral hormonal contraceptives should be stopped
Before surgery, stop taking drugs that contain aspirin, as well as steroids and hormonal medicines for chronic conditions
Get your tests a week ahead of surgery
Swelling after surgery goes away after 3 weeks
Within 3 weeks, scars form
Avoid exertion (lifting over 3 kg)
No lifting arms above shoulder height — 3 weeks
Part of recovery after the correction is wearing compression garments for 1–1.5 months
For up to 40 days, avoid hard gym workouts and very active aerobics; after a month you may do light cardio. Keep an eye on your diet and meals.
After 3 months, discomfort disappears
For up to three months, no baths, no saunas and no physiotherapy
By 3 months, inflammatory changes in the tissue have resolved and a “pocket” has formed around the implant

FAQ
Yes. Boob job is the everyday name for breast augmentation. At City Medical Centre it is done with round or anatomical implants that the surgeon chooses with you at the consultation.
Breast enlargement adds volume with implants. A breast lift (mastopexy) raises sagging breasts and removes excess skin. Which one suits you is decided at the free consultation.
Mammoplasty brings together several procedures: augmentation (implants to add volume), reduction (removal of surplus tissue and skin), mastopexy (lift for sagging breasts), reconstruction (after mastectomy) and asymmetry correction. The most suitable method is selected individually, guided by your wishes and the surgeon's advice.

If you follow all the recommendations, complications are rare; they may, however, include hematoma or seroma, wound infection, decreased or heightened nipple sensitivity, capsular contracture, aesthetic asymmetry, wound separation and tissue necrosis.
Mammoplasty results last a long time: about 10–15 years after augmentation (until implant replacement) and 5–10 years after a lift or reduction. Weight, pregnancy, skin aging and gravity affect how long it lasts. To maintain the result, wear supportive underwear and control your weight.
Breastfeeding after mammoplasty varies with the type of surgery. Lactation is usually preserved after augmentation through an under-breast or armpit incision with the implant under the muscle, because glandular tissue is not injured. After a lift or reduction there is more risk, since ducts may be cut. Discuss this in advance with your surgeon.
Implants are chosen by material (silicone appears most natural, saline is used less frequently), shape (round or anatomical teardrop), surface (smooth or textured), size and profile. Your surgeon selects the option that best suits your anatomy and wishes.
The surgery is carried out under general anaesthesia, and the patient feels nothing. Moderate discomfort is possible during the first 1–3 days and is relieved by pain medication. Pain falls significantly by day 5–7, and by weeks 2–3 discomfort is over. If you have severe pain, tell your doctor at once.
A return to work (no physical exertion) is possible after 7–14 days. Easy walks from 1–2 weeks. Fitness and swimming from 4–6 weeks; strength training from 3 months. Pool and sea from 4–6 weeks. Compression garments for 4–6 weeks. Precise timing depends on your individual recovery.
There is no scientific basis for saying mammoplasty raises breast cancer risk. Implants do not cause cancer. Post-surgery, maintain regular screening with self-exams, mammography and ultrasound, and always inform the examining doctor that you have implants.
It is possible to have mammoplasty after a C-section, provided the body has recovered fully. Wait no less than 6–12 months after birth and after finishing breastfeeding. A surgeon's consultation and examination are needed before the operation.
Scars after mammoplasty are unavoidable, but with a skilled surgeon they stay minimal. Incisions are made in hidden places, namely under the breast, around the areola or in the armpit. Scars look reddish during the first months, but within 6–12 months they fade to almost invisible.
Slight asymmetry is normal in the first weeks after surgery and comes from swelling and uneven healing. When a difference in shape or size lasts beyond 3–6 months, visit your surgeon for an examination to pinpoint the cause.
After mammoplasty, sensitivity of the nipples and breasts may change for a while, becoming lower or higher. This is due to irritation of the nerve endings. In most cases sensitivity comes back within 3–12 months. If nothing improves after a year, see your surgeon.
Although hormonal drugs (contraceptives, hormone replacement therapy) have no direct impact on implants, they can produce swelling or changes in breast tissue volume, temporarily affecting appearance. Be sure your surgeon knows about such medications before surgery.

Women in Nice who are unhappy with small or uneven breasts often look into augmentation. The operation places an implant in a pocket created by the surgeon, who then adjusts its position for symmetry and a natural contour. Incisions sit in discreet places: under the breast, around the areola or in the armpit. Over the following months the scars fade and become almost invisible.
After the operation, check-ups are scheduled at 7 days, 3 months and 6 months. At each one the surgeon evaluates the result, monitors healing and answers questions. You can usually return to office work in 7–14 days, walk after 1–2 weeks and resume fitness in 4–6 weeks, with strength training after three months. The same schedule applies to Nice patients.

I went to Dmitry Sergeyevich for breast augmentation with implants. At the consultation everything was explained in detail, and together we chose the best size. The operation under combined anaesthesia took 2 hours, and I was discharged home the next day. The swelling went down in about a month, and my breasts look very natural. The year of follow-up care is a real lifesaver: you can always ask a question and get an answer. Thank you to the clinic!

Breast augmentation recovery has one fixed piece of equipment: the compression garment. The recovery schedule calls for it for 1–1.5 months, and the consultation material for the procedure gives 4–6 weeks, so the exact length is something the doctor sets for your own recovery. In Nice, the season in which those weeks fall changes how the garment feels day to day.
Climate records for the city show the contrast. The mean July high is 27.5 °C with a mean low of 20.8 °C, and August is 27.9 °C and 21.1 °C. The nights stay warm, so there is little relief after sunset. Relative humidity averages 71.3% over the year. In January the mean high is 13.3 °C and the low 5.8 °C, and snow falls on only 1.1 days a year on average. A tight garment worn through a January week is easy to tolerate. The same garment in an August week close to 28 °C needs more planning: a second garment to alternate, loose cotton layers on top, and a bedroom that can be kept cool.
The record high for the city is 37.7 °C, set on 1 August 2006. Heat like that is the exception, but a patient planning a summer operation should assume a few very hot days could land inside the first month. If your wardrobe, workplace or bedroom cannot be kept comfortable in that weather, tell the coordinator on WhatsApp or Telegram when you send your photos. Dates can then be proposed with the weather in mind.
The cooler months suit the early phase for another reason. The recovery programme lists swelling that settles after about 3 weeks, and a period of tenderness that fades by around 3 months. Nice has a long sunny season, with 2,760.5 hours of sunshine a year, 349.3 of them in July and only 145.2 in December. Autumn and winter give you the quiet, indoor weeks when you are asked to rest anyway. Spring is also workable, because the early weeks fall before the hottest stretch.
None of this makes one month correct for everyone. It means that when you send photos and your preferred period, the coordinator can set the calendar against the real weather of the Côte d'Azur. The doctor decides the medical timing after reviewing your photos and the tests the programme requires.
The preparation steps in the programme are mostly independent of the season. Hormonal oral contraceptives are stopped at least one month before the procedure. Aspirin-containing drugs, steroids and hormonal medication for chronic conditions are paused 1–2 weeks before, and only on the doctor's instruction. Tests are done about a week before the operation. In summer, sort out the garment, the loose clothing and the cool sleeping arrangements during these weeks, not afterwards.
Nice is a seaside city, so the question of when you can get back in the water usually comes up early. The recovery information gives two separate time frames. Pool and sea are possible from 4–6 weeks, depending on how your recovery goes. Baths, saunas and physiotherapy are not allowed for up to three months. Swimming outdoors, a hot bath and a sauna are three different activities with three different limits.
The sea has its own seasonal pattern. Monthly mean sea temperatures show 13.4 °C in January and 14.6 °C in April, rising to 23.1 °C in July and a peak of 23.6 °C in August, with a yearly mean of 17.9 °C. Look at that table next to the 4–6 week window. An operation in early January 2027 would put the permitted window in February or the first half of March, when the water is much cooler than its January average suggests. Cold water is not a medical issue in itself. It simply makes a first swim less appealing than the calendar suggests.
An operation in mid-May 2027 puts the same window in late June. That is just before the warmest months, and the sea is approaching its July mean. For many patients this is the most comfortable match between the two calendars, though it also means wearing a compression garment in the warming weather described above. The 3-month rule for baths and saunas should be kept separate in your planning. A warm bath or a sauna is not a swap for the first swim.
Some patients also ask about walking along the shore in the first fortnight. The recovery guide says easy walks are possible from 1–2 weeks and that a return to work with no physical exertion is possible after 7–14 days. The coastal promenade is flat, and a gentle walk fits that stage. Anything involving heavy bags, reaching overhead or vigorous swinging of the arms does not. The 3-week limits apply: no lifting over 3 kg and no raising the arms above shoulder level.
The scars develop within 3 weeks according to the recovery guide, and the doctor will explain how to look after them and what to avoid with the sun. Nice has bright, long days, so ask this during your consultation. Do not rely on general beach advice.
If you swim regularly, say so when you send your photos. The consultation can then cover how to rebuild from the first dip to your usual routine, and when a long swim feels sensible given your recovery.
A large part of what you do in your free time can be planned around the numbers in the recovery guide. The upper-body restrictions are specific. For 3 weeks there is no strenuous activity and no lifting over 3 kg. For the same 3 weeks the arms stay below shoulder level. Intense gym training is skipped for up to 40 days, and overly active aerobics are avoided. Light cardio may be possible after a month, and strength training is listed from 3 months.
The guide includes an instruction about food as well: pay attention to your diet and meals. It is a small line, but a calm recovery period is a sensible time to review what you eat.
Nice is a city with a visible sporting calendar. OGC Nice plays in Ligue 1, and the city hosts the finish of the Paris-Nice cycling race. Watching either costs nothing in terms of recovery, apart from the usual caution about crowds, long standing and carrying bags in the first weeks. Playing or riding yourself is a different matter. A cyclist who grips handlebars, holds a position and braces the upper body should ask the doctor what to expect and when. Swimmers, climbers, racket-sport players and anyone who regularly trains their chest and shoulders should do the same.
A good approach is to sort your activities into three groups before the consultation. In the first group are things you do daily that need no special effort, such as walking, light housework and office work with no lifting. These fit the 7–14 day return to work. In the second group are things you do weekly that load the arms and chest, such as the gym, swimming, yoga with weight on the hands or tennis. In the third are occasional heavy tasks like moving boxes, carrying suitcases or lifting children. Send the coordinator this list. The doctor can then respond to your own routine, using the general timeline as a starting point.
A word on implant placement. The service information says that lactation is usually preserved when the implant is placed under the muscle through an under-breast or armpit incision. The muscle plane and the implant choice, round or anatomical, are decided at the consultation. For an athlete this is a useful conversation, and you should bring your training habits to it so the doctor can take them into account.
The medical timeline is short, but it has several parts: one day at the clinic, 7–14 days before a return to office-type work, 3 weeks of limits on lifting and arm movement, and check-ups at 7 days, 3 months and 6 months. Mapping these onto the French calendar is a practical exercise.
France has 11 public holidays: 1 January, Easter Monday, 1 May, 8 May, Ascension, Whit Monday, 14 July, 15 August, 1 November, 11 November and 25 December. Several fall in spring, in clusters around May. A working patient could use a holiday to extend the first rest period without using up as much leave. A date shortly after the new year in 2027 would let you use 1 January as a buffer, though check-in times and tests need to be settled before then. Remember also that a 7-day check-up should not clash with a public holiday if the follow-up is to be done by message.
Nice Carnival is another point on the calendar. It runs in February and sometimes into early March, as a two-week event. The earliest records of it date to 1294, and the article on it describes over a million visitors a year. For someone recovering in that period, that means a busy city centre, crowds and noise. The 3-week limits on lifting and arm movement are hard to keep while squeezing through a crowd. If you have the choice, schedule the operation so that the Carnival weeks fall after the 3-week mark, or treat it as something to watch from a quieter spot.
Students make up an important part of the city. Côte d'Azur University is described as having 35,000 students in one figure and nearly 30,000 in another, with no year stated. It grew out of Nice University, established in 1965, and has had its current name since 25 July 2019. If you are a student or a parent of students, think about the exam period, assignments and the arrival of semester deadlines. Sitting for several hours at a desk is compatible with the 7–14 day return to work, but a lab session, a physical placement or a sports module is not.
The same logic applies to parents. School and holiday calendars vary by level and year, so check the dates directly with the school. Lifting a young child counts as lifting well over 3 kg, and for the first 3 weeks arranging help matters more than the date itself. Ask a spouse, relative or friend to cover pick-ups and bedtime lifting. That single arrangement often decides whether a schedule is realistic.
Finally, the Nice Jazz Festival is listed among the city's festivals, though the source gives no month. Check the dates of any event you do not want to miss and compare them with your 3-week and 40-day marks. The coordinators answer round the clock on WhatsApp and Telegram, so a question about a date can be asked at any hour.
Patients in France often assume that the health insurance system will contribute to a breast operation. The facts are more specific. According to an insurer's article on the topic, aesthetic surgery for personal comfort is not paid by Sécurité sociale. Exceptions exist where there is serious psychological or social harm, with examples such as protruding ears or breast reduction, or where medical criteria apply, as with a deviated septum. In those cases the operating doctor submits an "entente préalable" to the medical adviser of the insurer. It is deemed accepted if no reply arrives within 15 days, and the procedure must take place in a public or approved establishment.
Reconstructive surgery after an accident, illness or malformation is described as covered by Assurance Maladie. On the service list, breast reconstruction after mastectomy is a separate item whose cost is set at the consultation. If your situation is reconstruction and not enlargement, say so in your first message. The route differs, and the coordinator can explain what the clinic can and cannot do.
For an elective enlargement, the practical picture is simpler. The reference article treats it as personal comfort, so you should not plan on reimbursement from the main fund. France has near-universal coverage: 99.9% of the population is covered, the main fund covers 84% of it, and the system generally refunds 70% of most costs. About 85% of people hold complementary private insurance, known as a mutuelle. Some mutuelle policies may include specific clauses, but this is not something to assume. Read your contract or ask your insurer directly, and do it before you commit to dates.
Some of the figures in these sources are dated. One national summary gives 59.2 million beneficiaries of the general regime in 2020 and says CNAM insured 88% of the population. The 2015 figures show reimbursements of 76.8% of total care spending. Treat these as context for how the system works. They say nothing about whether a particular procedure will be paid for.
Waiting times are a further point. An older survey from 2010 found that 53% of specialist appointments took place within a month and 28% took more than two months, and that 46% of elective surgery took place within a month while 7% waited four months or more. It is old data, but it shows why some patients prefer an online consultation with a fast reply. Here the first consultation is free, you send photos in a messenger, and the doctor gives an assessment before anything is booked.
One more point on health context. A national survey reported 17% of French adults as obese in 2020, and 47.3% as overweight or obese. This is a national figure, not a Nice one. It matters here because weight changes affect the durability of results, and the service information mentions weight changes, pregnancy, skin ageing and gravity as influences on how long the result lasts. If you are planning to lose a significant amount of weight, mention it in the consultation, as it may affect timing.
For enlargement done for personal comfort, an insurer's article states that Sécurité sociale does not pay. Exceptions are described for serious psychological or social harm and for medical criteria, with a prior request from the operating doctor to the insurer's medical adviser. That request is deemed accepted if there is no reply within 15 days, and the operation must take place in a public or approved establishment. Reconstruction after illness, accident or malformation is described as covered by Assurance Maladie. Check your own case with your insurer.
About 85% of people in France hold a complementary private insurance known as a mutuelle, but contracts differ widely. Elective enlargement is generally treated as personal comfort, so do not assume it is included. Read your policy or ask the insurer directly before you set any dates. The coordinator can provide the written plan and contract terms after the free consultation, which you can show to your insurer.
The recovery information lists pool and sea from 4–6 weeks, depending on how your recovery goes, while baths, saunas and physiotherapy are not allowed for up to three months. Monthly mean sea temperatures in Nice are 13.4 °C in January, 14.6 °C in April, 23.1 °C in July and 23.6 °C in August. An operation in mid-May 2027 would put the first permitted swim in late June. Ask the doctor to confirm for your case.
It can be less comfortable. The garment is worn for 1–1.5 months, and July and August have mean highs of 27.5 °C and 27.9 °C with warm nights and average humidity of 71.3% across the year. Many patients plan loose cotton clothing, a second garment to alternate and a cool bedroom. The doctor decides how long and how strictly you wear it, so raise any skin irritation or discomfort at your check-ups.
Carnival runs for about two weeks in February and sometimes into early March, and the city draws large crowds. For the first 3 weeks you should not lift over 3 kg or raise your arms above shoulder level, and a crowded street makes that hard to respect. If you want to see Carnival, plan the operation so the main events fall after the 3-week mark, or watch from a calm spot. The coordinator can help you compare dates.
France has 11 public holidays, including 1 January, Easter Monday, 1 May, 8 May, Ascension, Whit Monday, 14 July, 15 August, 1 November, 11 November and 25 December. Some are clustered in spring, so a holiday next to your first week can reduce the leave you need. A return to work with no physical exertion is possible after 7–14 days, and check-ups are at 7 days, 3 months and 6 months, so avoid a holiday on the day of a check-up.
The recovery information says no lifting over 3 kg and no arms above shoulder level for 3 weeks. Intense gym training is skipped for up to 40 days, and light cardio may be possible after a month. Strength training is listed from 3 months, and pool and sea from 4–6 weeks. Send the coordinator a list of your usual activities so the doctor can adjust the plan to your routine.
