I am sharing my experience, because before the operation I went through a pile of reviews myself and was looking for real stories. I had a beard transplant six months ago. Honestly, in the first days after the procedure I felt a little jittery: my face looked unfamiliar, there was slight swelling and small scabs. In the first couple of months the hair partly fell out, as the doctor had warned. But now the result truly makes me very happy) From about the 4th month active, even growth began. The transplanted hair took very well, the beard now looks as natural as possible, no bald patches are left. The beard became much thicker and denser, with the shape I had thought about for a long time. All in all, I recommend the clinic, the doctor was polite and explained everything 👍 The result is definitely worth it!

Queries we hear

Here is what people
ask before booking

People often say hair implants, but no artificial hair is used. In a hair transplant the doctor moves your own follicles (grafts) from the donor area to thinning or bald areas using FUE or DHI.

City Medical Centre doctors

Certainly — the clinic is used to patients from cities far apart and other countries, and a doctor gives an online opinion first.

FUE costs $2,200 (≈ PLN 8,600), DHI costs $2,500 (≈ PLN 9,800), and the combined DHI+FUE method costs $2,700 (≈ PLN 11,000). The exact amount is confirmed at a free consultation after your grafts are counted, and it is fixed in the contract.

One day covers the entire operation, and home follows.

It helps with stable pattern hair loss and a receding hairline when there are enough donor grafts. Some types of alopecia need treatment first; the doctor checks this at the consultation.

No. With the scalp numbed locally, patients feel no pain.

FUE means tweezer-based, incision-free graft harvesting. DHI means channel-free implantation with a Choi pen. Combined DHI+FUE uses FUE for harvesting and the DHI pen for implanting.

Your graft count is worked out for free by the doctor during the consultation, based on the donor zone.

Allow 0–10 days for the skin to close. The 2–4 week shed is expected and passes. Growth comes back at 3–4 months, density builds through 6–9 months, and the finished result stands at 12–18 months.

A contract-backed, lifetime guarantee of hair growth comes with every procedure.

The answer to hair loss for Szczecin patients

FUE and DHI are built around convenience, which is what a patient in Szczecin usually needs: no cuts, no stitches, local anaesthesia on its own, and an operation that finishes the day it starts.

For Szczecin the entry point is simple and free: an online consultation where the doctor reviews photos of the thinning area and counts the grafts you would need. The clinic answers 24/7, so a message never sits overnight.

The first 0-10 days are for healing; at 2-4 weeks the transplanted hairs leave, which is the normal course; growth comes back at 3-4 months, density at 6-9, the final look at 12-18. Control visits at 1, 3, 6, 9 and 12 months, photos with a personal coordinator, growth guaranteed for life.

Reading the Szczecin year as a hair-growth calendar

A transplant is a one-day procedure, but its result unfolds over many months. For a patient in Szczecin, the useful question is which stretches of the local year the stages of regrowth will fall into. The stages from the doctor's plan are: 0-10 days of healing, shedding of the transplanted hairs at 2-4 weeks, first growth at 3-4 months, visible density at 6-9 months, and the final result at 12-18 months. Szczecin's calendar is fairly easy to lay over that sequence.

Take an illustrative case. Suppose the procedure is done on 10 November 2026. The first ten days of healing, with crusts falling away and swelling subsiding, end around 20 November. The shedding stage then runs from late November into December. The hairs that fall out are only the transplanted shafts; the follicles stay in place. This is exactly when Szczecin is at its darkest. December gets only 32.2 hours of sunshine for the whole month, and January 42.7 hours. The shedding phase therefore happens in a season when the scalp has little sun to contend with and most people wear a hat anyway.

First growth, at 3-4 months, would then arrive in roughly February to mid-March 2027. In the 1991-2020 climate normals, February has a mean maximum of 4.5 °C and a mean minimum of -1.3 °C. The new hairs are thin and few at that point, and this is the stage where patients most often lose patience. Counting from the date of the procedure, not from the season, helps. The 6-9 month window, with its visible density, would fall between about May and August 2027. In Szczecin that is the sunniest part of the year: May has 244.5 hours of sunshine, June 242.3 and July 246.3.

The final 12-18 months would end between November 2027 and May 2028. The follow-up checks at 1, 3, 6, 9 and 12 months fit the same chain. In this example they land in December, February, May, August and November. The coordinator tracks progress by photo between checks, so a seasonal change in light, such as dull winter daylight against bright July sun, should not be mistaken for a change in density. A good habit is to photograph the scalp in the same spot and the same lighting each time.

The calendar also works backwards. Anyone who wants the 6-9 month stage to coincide with a particular summer event, or the first growth to appear before it, can count back from that date and ask the coordinator for a realistic window. The doctor sets the final plan at the free consultation, once the donor area and the number of grafts are known.

Cold, wind and damp: what Szczecin weather means for a healing scalp

Szczecin has an oceanic climate. The annual mean maximum is 13.7 °C and the mean minimum 5.5 °C, with January averaging 3.0 °C at most and -1.8 °C at night. Frost is not extreme, but the air is damp. Relative humidity averages 79.9% over the year and peaks in November (89.1%) and December (89.0%). The city sits on both banks of the Oder, and Lake Dabie lies entirely within its limits. A scalp in the early healing stage does not face the dry cold of a continental winter. The more typical conditions are drizzle, wet hats and long spells of raw air.

That is why the question of headwear matters. The clinic's care plan includes advice on washing your hair, on sleep and on headwear. This article does not repeat the details of that advice, and it does not substitute for it. What a patient in Szczecin can do is raise local questions with the doctor during the consultation. For example, which kind of headwear is acceptable on which day, what to do if a hat gets wet on the way home, and how to handle a rainy commute in the first ten days. The answers depend on the stage of healing and on the area treated, and they come from the doctor, not from general rules.

Snow matters less than people expect. Szczecin averages 23.7 snowy days a year, most of them in January (7.6) and February (6.9), and the average extreme snow depth is only 3.6 cm in January and 4.0 cm in February. There is no snow from May to October. Heavy winter clothing is therefore more about wind and damp than about deep snow. The practical points are to keep the first days calm, to avoid rubbing the treated area, and to ask the coordinator about anything unclear before it becomes a worry.

Annual precipitation is 567.1 mm on 166.6 days with at least 0.1 mm, according to one source; Polish text gives about 537 mm, so the figures differ by source. Either way, many days have some rain. For a patient, it means that an umbrella and a loose, clean head covering that the doctor has approved are more useful than a heavy winter cap chosen at random.

Sun, summer water and the later months of regrowth

The sun question arrives later than the cold one. Szczecin gets 1,738.6 hours of sunshine a year, concentrated in May, June and July. Warm months have a mean maximum of 24.3 °C in July and 24.0 °C in August, with nights of about 13.8 °C and 13.5 °C. These are moderate temperatures, but long daylight and open water produce plenty of exposure.

The city invites time outdoors. About a quarter of its area, around 24% of 300.62 km2, is water. The Szczecin Lagoon to the north covers 687 km2, and forest, heath and Szczecin Landscape Park surround the city. Sailing, diving and water polo clubs operate there, and an August marathon is held in the city. Sport matters here for a specific reason: the care plan includes a plan for returning to sport and hair care. Instead of assuming that a summer activity is allowed at a given point, bring the planned activity to the doctor and ask when it fits. That applies to swimming, sailing, long runs in the sun and any sport with a helmet or tight cap.

For someone who transplants in autumn, the first summer falls in the 6-9 month window. By then the hair is denser and the main volume and contour are visible, but the doctor still counts the result as unfinished until 12-18 months. Sun protection and water sports during that summer are worth discussing at the 6-month and 9-month checks, rather than leaving them to guesswork.

Someone who transplants in spring would meet the very first stages in summer. A procedure in late May, for instance, means the shedding stage and the first weeks of growth coincide with the sunniest weeks in the Szczecin year (July, 246.3 hours). That is not an argument against a spring date. It is simply a reason to talk through headwear and sun exposure with the doctor before choosing it, and to confirm the date only after that.

Fitting the procedure around Polish holidays and the city's rhythm

Poland has 14 public non-working days: 1 January, 6 January (Epiphany), Easter Sunday and Monday, 1 May, 3 May, Pentecost Sunday, Corpus Christi, 15 August, 1 November, 11 November, 24 December (since 2025), and 25 and 26 December. For a person planning one day at the clinic, those dates matter in a particular way. The consultation itself is online, and coordinators answer on WhatsApp and Telegram round the clock, so a holiday does not leave a question hanging. What holidays change is the surrounding rhythm: family gatherings, public events, and how comfortable it is to stay at home in the first days.

Consider the winter cluster: 11 November, then 24, 25 and 26 December, then 1 and 6 January. A patient who schedules around these days gets several quiet days at home without needing extra leave. Crusts in the first ten days are the most visible sign of the procedure, and the shedding stage follows at 2-4 weeks. Some patients prefer to pass that period away from social events, so a date shortly before a long holiday break can be convenient. The reverse also applies: a date right before a wedding, a graduation or a big work event is a weak choice, because the shedding stage would coincide with it.

Szczecin has a student population that shapes the academic year. The University of Szczecin alone has 35,000 students, and the city hosts a medical university, a maritime university, a technical university and an art academy. For a student or a lecturer, the semester calendar is the natural frame: a procedure after exams, or in a quiet teaching week, leaves the shedding stage outside the busiest weeks. The same logic applies to anyone who works in the city's seasonal rhythm.

Summer events can also be used as markers. The city has hosted the Tall Ships' Races finals (4-7 August 2007, 3-6 August 2013, 4-7 August 2017), and a marathon is held each August. The men's tennis tournament Pekao Szczecin Open takes place every September. These are crowded outdoor moments, and a person who wants to attend without worrying about the scalp should count back from the event and ask the coordinator whether the stage will be comfortable by then.

For a clear start, the coordinator can propose a plan after you send photos. The doctor counts the grafts and fixes the price in the contract, and the date is confirmed only after the plan is accepted. Nothing is booked before that.

Public health coverage, and what to bring to the consultation

A hair transplant is a planned procedure, and patients in Poland often ask how it relates to the public health system. The facts available to us are general. Poland's health insurance contribution is 9% of personal income, of which 7.75% is deducted from tax and 1.25% is paid directly to NFZ, and uninsured patients pay the full cost of services. NFZ states that services not listed in its catalogues are not financed by it. Within the listed range, treatment is in most cases free for the insured patient. NFZ also works with waiting lists: a patient may be entered on a list for a given service with only one provider, and the original referral must be delivered within 14 working days of entering the list.

Why mention this? Because it is a different logic from the one a patient meets here. The initial consultation with the clinic is free, there is no waiting list for it, and the plan and price are fixed in a contract once the grafts are counted. Whether a given case could or could not be covered by NFZ is a question for NFZ itself and for the treating physician. The clinic does not decide it, and this text does not either. If hair loss comes from an illness or a hormonal imbalance, a physician may deal with that cause separately. The clinic's own list notes that hair loss from illness, shedding from a hormonal imbalance and patchy alopecia are cases where a transplant may not be the right route.

What should the patient prepare? The consultation starts with photos sent by WhatsApp or Telegram. The doctor then looks at the donor area, counts the grafts and shows the result achievable. It also helps to note any chronic conditions, since some conditions are listed as contraindications: epilepsy, serious heart conditions, diabetes mellitus, a pacemaker, AIDS/HIV, hepatitis B/C, pulmonary embolism, cancer, and intolerance to anaesthetics. Trichotillomania and body dysmorphic disorder are also on the list, as is being under 18. If any applies, say so at the start. Anaesthesia is local, and the stay is one day at the clinic.

One more practical point concerns numbers. In the clinic's examples, the number of grafts ranges from 2,500 to 4,000 across cases, and the method used is FUE. That is a spread across individual patients, not a target. Your own number comes from the doctor's count.

Choosing a method and judging results from Szczecin

The clinic describes three technologies. Classic FUE extracts grafts with no incisions and no stitches, and the doctor suggests it for androgenetic alopecia. DHI implants with a Choi pen and no sutures, and it is described as suitable for densification. The combined protocol uses FUE extraction and DHI implantation, and it is described for androgenetic alopecia and densification together. Every method is described as causing minimal graft trauma and a natural growth angle. The doctor clarifies all details, because the outcome depends on the transplant area and individual features.

For a patient in Szczecin, the sensible way to compare is to ask the same few questions of the doctor for each method. How many grafts does my case need? Which area would be treated first? How will the donor area at the back of the head look during the first weeks? What does the plan say about headwear in November rather than in July? The answers are part of the free consultation, and there is no obligation to book.

The same applies to judging progress. The follow-up checks are at 1, 3, 6, 9 and 12 months, and photo tracking connects them. A typical worry in the third week is that hair is falling out. That is the expected shedding stage, and the follicles stay in place. A second worry is that nothing appears at two months. First growth is expected at 3-4 months, so it is early. A third worry is that density looks uneven at six months. The 6-9 month window is when density shows, while the final result is placed at 12-18 months. In every case, the coordinator is reachable round the clock, and the reply to a first message is promised within 15 minutes.

The same sequence applies to beard and eyebrow work, which uses the same kind of grafts from the back of the head and the same FUE method. A patient who has a particular season in mind for those areas can plan it in the same way.

Which months in Szczecin are most convenient for a procedure if I want to minimise sun exposure during early healing?

Winter and early spring have the least sunshine. December gets only 32.2 hours and January 42.7 hours, against 246.3 hours in July. A procedure in November or winter means the early healing and shedding stages fall in the dim months. The choice still depends on your schedule, and the doctor will advise on headwear for your stage of healing during the consultation.

If I have the procedure in November 2026, when would I see each stage?

As an illustration, with a procedure on 10 November 2026: healing in the first 0-10 days, shedding from late November into December (2-4 weeks), first growth in about February to mid-March 2027 (3-4 months), visible density between about May and August 2027 (6-9 months), and the final result from about November 2027 to May 2028 (12-18 months). The exact timing varies from patient to patient.

Does the damp Szczecin winter affect healing?

Relative humidity averages 79.9% over the year and reaches 89.1% in November and 89.0% in December, so wet air and wet headwear are common. Ask the doctor which head covering is suitable at each stage and what to do if it gets wet. The care plan includes advice on washing your hair, on sleep and on headwear.

Can I swim in the lagoon or sail in the first summer after the procedure?

The care plan includes a plan for returning to sport and hair care. Bring the specific activity, such as swimming, sailing or diving, to the doctor or coordinator and ask when it fits your stage of regrowth. Do not assume it is allowed from the calendar alone.

Which Polish public holidays are useful to plan around?

Poland has 14 public non-working days, including 11 November, 24, 25 and 26 December, 1 January and 6 January. A date shortly before a holiday break can give quiet days at home during the first period of healing. Avoid placing the procedure right before an important event, since the shedding stage comes at 2-4 weeks.

Will NFZ finance a hair transplant?

NFZ states that services not listed in its catalogues are not financed by it, and that treatment within the listed range is in most cases free for the insured patient. Whether your particular case falls under any listed service is a question for NFZ and your treating physician. The clinic's consultation is free, and the plan and price are fixed in a contract before anything is booked.

What should I prepare before the first online consultation from Szczecin?

Send photos of the scalp by WhatsApp or Telegram, and note any chronic conditions or medicines. Epilepsy, serious heart conditions, diabetes, a pacemaker, hepatitis B/C, HIV, pulmonary embolism, cancer and intolerance to anaesthetics are on the list of contraindications. The doctor looks at the donor area, counts the grafts and says what result is possible.

How do the follow-up checks work if I live in Szczecin and the contact is online?

Follow-ups are at 1, 3, 6, 9 and 12 months, and progress is tracked by photo with a personal coordinator. Take photos in the same lighting each time, as Szczecin's winter daylight and summer sun look very different. Coordinators answer round the clock on WhatsApp and Telegram.
