Rhinoplasty in Bari step by step

The aim is a nose that blends with your features and works flawlessly. Before anything is decided in Bari, the surgeon evaluates nose size, tip projection, the septum and nasal lining, then uses 3D modelling to show the future proportions. Rhinoplasty makes features more harmonious without losing individuality, and the predicted result is agreed with you in advance.

Safety depends on each step. Full diagnostics include tests, CT, ECG and exams by the surgeon and anaesthetist. After surgery, do not remove dressings or splints yourself, press on your nose, wear glasses or sleep face down. Regular follow-up visits catch small deviations early. People from Bari are advised to contact the doctor right away in case of severe pain, fever or breathing difficulty.

The consultation costs nothing and gives a realistic forecast: facial proportions are assessed, a 3D model of the future nose is shown and a personal surgery and recovery plan is drawn up. After that, the fee for rhinoplasty is $4,200 (≈ €3,750) with inpatient care, dressings and follow-ups included. Patients from Bari can book via the form or message us in any messenger.

Patient reviews

What patients write after this operation. Reviews are translated from the original language.

Ekaterina Ivanova

For a long time I was self-conscious about the length of my nose, until a friend who had had rhinoplasty recommended this clinic. At the very first consultation they set the date of surgery and explained every stage in detail. The rhinoplasty under general anaesthesia was performed by Mareta Meirieva: the swelling went down quickly, and after just a week my nose looked natural and neat. Modern equipment, attentive staff and appointments without delays made the whole process comfortable. I recommend the clinic to anyone who values professionalism and a quality result.

Rhinoplasty

Olga Vasilyeva

This was my first visit to the clinic, for rhinoseptoplasty, and to be honest I was very nervous. At the consultation they explained every stage of the operation and recovery in detail, which calmed me down straight away. The operation was performed by Mareta Meirieva: the swelling started to go down on the third day, and the result is visible to the naked eye. Everything inside is sterile and pleasant, the atmosphere inspires trust, and the staff are always responsive. I thank the clinic for the high level of service and the warm approach!

Rhinoplasty

Marina Samarina

Everything was first-class: clean, cosy and calm. Booking and choosing the right date was easy. The nose operation went smoothly and the nerve block was done perfectly: now I breathe freely without nasal drops! It is a real lifesaver for anyone tired of endless prescriptions and ineffective procedures. I recommend it to everyone who values professionalism and results.

Rhinoplasty

Viktoria Petrova

I recently had rhinoplasty and I am absolutely delighted. At the consultation they told me about every stage in detail, so I went into surgery fully prepared. The operation went smoothly: they straightened the bridge of my nose and made the nostrils symmetrical, and the shape came out very neat. The swelling lasted a little longer than I expected, but they explained straight away that full recovery takes more time. No unpleasant surprises, everything was within the normal range. I recommend the clinic to anyone looking for a confident result and an attentive attitude.

Damp Novembers, dry Augusts: what Bari's air means for a nose operation

Bari sits at 5 m above sea level on the Adriatic, so the nose is shaped by sea air all year. Over 1991-2020 the main weather station recorded relative humidity of 68.5% on average. The figure falls to 60.4% in July and rises to 74.9% in November. The rainfall pattern follows the same curve. About 466.6 mm falls in a year on 61.4 days with at least 1 mm, and November is the wettest month at 62.0 mm, followed by October at 53.9 mm. August is the driest at 13.3 mm, with July at 17.8 mm.

None of this decides whether rhinoplasty is right for you. It does give you a calendar to plan around. A nose that is swollen, sometimes blocked and sometimes supported by a splint is easiest to live with when the weather is not adding to it. If you prefer to keep the first weeks away from the dampest stretch of autumn, you can plan the operation so that recovery starts after the wet months. If you prefer the cooler, calmer winter, that works too. The January mean high is 12.6 °C and the mean low is 4.1 °C. These are the long-term averages, not a forecast for any particular week.

Rhinoplasty at City Medical Centre is not only about appearance. The primary operation adjusts the shape and also improves breathing when airflow is restricted. Rhinoseptoplasty, the combined operation, corrects the septum and changes the nose's appearance at once. In everyday terms, many people in Bari notice their nose most in the seasons when the air is heavy or the temperature changes. That is a good moment to write down what actually bothers you. Do you feel one side blocked in the evening? Does breathing change in damp weather? Do you breathe mostly through your mouth at night? Notes like these help the doctor more than a general statement such as "I breathe badly".

The doctor will look at your photos and your notes during the online consultation. The list of problems that rhinoplasty can tackle includes a deviated septum, marked breathing problems, nasal polyps, asymmetric nasal cartilage or nostrils, and nose injury. The list of cases where it is not suitable includes inflammation of the ears, throat, nose or eyes, blood clotting problems, and skin damage in the area of the planned surgery. If you currently have an active inflammation, you will most likely need to wait until it has settled. The doctor says so honestly at the consultation, so you do not pay for a procedure you do not need.

You can ask the coordinators on WhatsApp or Telegram at any hour, since they answer round the clock. A late-evening question about a cold that has just begun is exactly the kind of thing they can pass on to the doctor before you commit to a date.

Frames on the bridge, summer glare and a coloured splint

Bari has 2,829.5 hours of sunshine a year. July alone gives 355.6 hours and December only 120.4. The July mean high is 30.6 °C, and August is almost identical at 30.5 °C. The record high is 45.6 °C. For someone who wears glasses or sunglasses every day, these numbers raise practical questions worth settling before the operation, not after it.

The service information does not set out specific rules for glasses, sun exposure or sunscreen. Do not trust a number or a rule from a forum or from a friend. Put the question to the doctor during the consultation: when and how can I wear frames on my nose during recovery, and what is the plan for strong sun? The answer depends on your anatomy, the technique and your recovery, and the doctor confirms it with you. Write the answer down and keep it in the chat with your coordinator.

Think about which summer you are planning for. If you wear glasses daily, tell the doctor which frames you use. Heavy frames, lightweight frames and contact lenses are different situations. If you only use sunglasses for driving along the seafront in July, that is a smaller question. Neither case is a reason to delay a consultation, but both are worth mentioning.

The nasal splint is the part of recovery you can actually choose. The clinic lets you pick its colour: purple, gold, green, light blue, pink, yellow, raspberry or carbon. The idea is that small details make recovery easier to live with. In a sunny city where people spend a lot of time outdoors, a splint in a colour you like is a reasonable thing to think about early. Mention your choice to the coordinator when you confirm the date, so it is not left until the last day.

The doctor makes a 3D model of the future result during the free consultation, so you see the planned shape before anything is booked. That is also the right moment to ask how the frame of your glasses relates to the nose you are looking at on screen. Bring a photo of yourself wearing the glasses you use every day. The model is a forecast and not a promise, and the doctor explains what the real extent of correction will depend on.

Putting recovery into Bari's calendar: holidays, match days and term time

The face is on show at predictable moments, and Bari's calendar has several of them. The feast of St Nicholas on 8 May is the patron-saint date. It is not confirmed as a public holiday, so treat it as a local occasion, not a day off. National holidays still apply: 1 January, 6 January, Easter Monday, 25 April, 1 May, 2 June, 15 August, 4 October, 1 November, 8 December, 25 December and 26 December. Every Sunday counts as a holiday too.

Here is a worked example that uses real dates. Suppose your operation is on Monday 9 November 2026. The check-up at 7 days then falls on Monday 16 November. The check-up at 3 months comes around 9 February 2027. The check-up at 6 months falls in the first days of May 2027, close to St Nicholas on 8 May. The operation itself is a single day at the clinic: the one-day stay, with discharge after you have been observed. If you want photographs taken at an event, you can see in this plan how much time there is between the operation and the occasion, and discuss with the doctor how realistic it is.

The dates of the first online check-ups need to fit around holidays too. Late in December there is a sequence of public holidays, with 8 December, 25 December and 26 December, then 1 January and 6 January. If a check-up would land in the middle of them, tell your coordinator early. They are available 24/7, but booking a follow-up is easier a few days ahead.

Football is the other fixed rhythm. SSC Bari plays at Stadio San Nicola, which seats 58,000 and was built for the 1990 FIFA World Cup. It also hosted the 1991 European Cup final. On match days a stadium that size changes the feel of the city. If you plan to go back to crowds, noise and close contact soon after surgery, ask the doctor when that is sensible. After any nose operation people usually want to avoid knocks to the face, so a crowded stand is worth discussing in advance.

Term time matters for a different group. Bari has the University of Bari (founded in 1925), the Polytechnic University of Bari, the Academy of Fine Arts and a conservatory. The infobox lists 49,000 students at the university, while the article text mentions about 40,000, and neither figure comes with a year. Rhinoplasty is suitable from the age of 18, and the optimal range is 18 to 45. Students who want to schedule an operation around exams should remember the tests before surgery and the time needed for recovery. If you are studying, the quieter weeks between exam sessions are a natural window. Your coordinator can help you find a date that works.

What the national health service covers for the nose, and what it does not

Italy's Servizio Sanitario Nazionale was set up in 1978 and gives universal coverage to citizens and residents. It runs on a regional basis, and the national Essential Levels of Care, known as LEA, set out what is provided. Puglia, with Bari as its main city, is one of those regions. Public health care is therefore the starting point for many functional problems of the nose.

Purely aesthetic surgery is a different matter. According to an article on money.it from January 2024, it is available only through private services. The same article says the SSN covers reconstructive surgery after trauma, burns and mastectomy, and certain defined functional cases. One of them is rhinoplasty for severe septal deviation or breathing problems. This is a secondary source, and the exact conditions for each case are set by the health service, not by us. If you think your problem is functional, speak to your family doctor or a public specialist about it first. Many people would reasonably want to know that option exists before paying privately.

How does the private route at City Medical Centre fit alongside this? It is a separate private service. The first online consultation is free and carries no commitment, and the price is named by the doctor and recorded in the contract. The clinic also performs rhinoseptoplasty, the combined operation for a deviated septum and nose shape. Reconstructive variants are listed as well, including one with a rib cartilage graft. The doctor decides at the consultation which of them matches your anatomy.

The waiting times in the public system are also relevant. Reports describe them as usually up to a few months in the big public facilities and up to a few weeks in private facilities contracted with the SSN. No official waiting-list figure was found, so treat this as a general picture. There is also evidence of patients moving from poorer southern regions to the more prosperous north for care. If you have been waiting for a public appointment about breathing, you can still have a free online conversation with the doctor in the meantime and compare the options calmly.

Be careful with one assumption. A free consultation with the clinic does not replace a public diagnosis, and it does not create a right to reimbursement. If you hope to claim a functional case through the SSN, ask the public specialist what documents are needed. If you are going private anyway, bring any earlier reports and imaging to the online consultation so the doctor does not have to guess.

Italians live long: life expectancy was 83.4 years in 2018, fourth highest in the OECD, and health spending was 9.7% of GDP in 2020. Those national figures say nothing about your own nose. They do suggest that many patients plan elective procedures in the expectation of a long healthy life, and that recovery is not something to rush.

One day at the clinic and the year after: preparing step by step

The stay is short, but the preparation around it is not. Preparation should begin 21 days before rhinoplasty. At the first appointment the plastic surgery doctor gives you the list of required tests. Before the operation you need a complete set of lab tests: complete blood count, biochemistry and a coagulation panel, plus a chest X-ray and an X-ray of the sinuses. Some of them have a validity period, such as two weeks for the blood count and urinalysis. The coordinators remind you about the dates, so none of the tests expires before your operation day.

Because Bari's damp months run from October to November, a practical point follows from the contraindication list. Inflammation of the ears, throat, nose or eyes is a reason to postpone. If you tend to catch colds at the start of the cool season, allow some slack in your schedule. A date with a few spare days on either side costs you nothing in the planning, and it gives the doctor room to say "wait a little".

The steps run in a clear order. First comes the online consultation and 3D modelling. Next the doctor reserves your date once the deposit is paid and the terms are in the contract for medical services. Then come the tests. The operation follows: it takes 1.5 to 3 hours depending on complexity, under general anaesthesia. After the operation you stay one day in the clinic's inpatient unit. Meals at the clinic, follow-up visits, dressings and personal coordinator support are included in the quoted price, along with consumables and anaesthesia. Support lasts 12 months.

The recovery programme is the part people underestimate. You receive it after the operation, and check-ups at 7 days, 3 months and 6 months help monitor how you are healing. Consultations with the doctor remain free for a year afterwards. Revision rhinoplasty, if it is ever discussed, is done no earlier than a year after the primary operation, so it is a long conversation and not a quick fix.

Finally, set your expectations about the result. The doctor shows a forecast, but the service information is clear that recovery times and benefits are typical averages and for general guidance only. Your anatomy and individual features determine the real extent of correction and recovery. Treat the 3D model as a plan to discuss, ask questions until it is clear, and decide only when you are comfortable.

Is a damp month like November a bad time for rhinoplasty in Bari?

Nothing in the service information links the operation to a particular month, so there is no rule against it. In Bari November is the wettest month at 62.0 mm, and relative humidity averages 74.9%. Many patients simply prefer to keep the first weeks of recovery away from that stretch. If you do plan for autumn, keep a few spare days around the date, because inflammation of the nose, throat, ears or eyes is a reason to postpone. The doctor decides on the day.

I wear glasses every day. What should I ask before the operation?

Ask the doctor during the online consultation when frames can go back on the nose, which kinds are suitable, and how to manage strong sun. The service information gives no fixed rules on this, and the answer depends on your anatomy, the technique chosen and how you heal. Send a photo of yourself wearing the glasses you actually use. Write down the answer and keep it in your chat with the coordinator.

Will the national health service pay for my rhinoplasty?

Purely aesthetic nose surgery is not covered by the SSN, according to a January 2024 article on money.it. The same article says that defined functional cases are covered, for example rhinoplasty for severe septal deviation or breathing problems. If your main problem is breathing, talk to your family doctor or a public specialist first. The private route at City Medical Centre starts with a free online consultation, and the doctor names the price and records it in the contract.

How do I fit the operation around holidays and the feast of St Nicholas?

Start with the dates. The feast of St Nicholas is on 8 May, but it is not confirmed as a public holiday. The national holidays are listed and every Sunday counts as one. For an operation on Monday 9 November 2026, the 7-day check-up falls on Monday 16 November, and the 6-month check-up comes in the first days of May 2027, close to 8 May. Ask your coordinator to line the dates up before you pay the deposit.

Can I go to a match at Stadio San Nicola soon after surgery?

Ask the doctor about it directly, because the service information gives no fixed date. The stadium seats 58,000, and crowds mean a real chance of accidental knocks to the face. After a nose operation people usually want to avoid that, and the doctor tells you when it is reasonable. If a particular fixture matters to you, mention it at the consultation so it can be considered when the operation date is chosen.

I am a student in Bari. When is the easiest time to plan this?

The operation takes 1.5 to 3 hours, followed by one day in the clinic's inpatient unit, and the 21-day preparation comes first. Add the check-ups at 7 days, 3 months and 6 months. Many students look for a quiet period between exam sessions, but that is a personal choice. Rhinoplasty is for patients aged 18 and over, and the optimal range is 18 to 45. Your coordinator can help line up a date with your timetable.

What if my breathing problem is only partly cosmetic?

That is the case rhinoseptoplasty is designed for. It is a combined operation that corrects the septum and changes the shape of the nose. A deviated septum and marked breathing problems appear among the indications for rhinoplasty. The doctor assesses your anatomy at the free online consultation and tells you whether a primary rhinoplasty or the combined operation fits. If surgery is not needed in your case, you will be told that too.

How do I find out quickly whether I am a suitable candidate?

Send photos of your nose to the coordinators on Telegram or WhatsApp. They answer round the clock, and the doctor will tell you whether rhinoplasty is suitable. This costs nothing and carries no commitment. Add a short note about when you notice blocked breathing, any earlier injury, and any previous nose operation. Revision work is considered no earlier than a year after the first operation.
