Not only the scalp. The same grafts from the back of the head, the same FUE method — only the area changes.
FUE method, free of cuts or stitches

Donor grafts are taken at the back of the head and moved through micro-punctures of about 1 mm, leaving no scars. The doctor talks the shape over with you before the operation, allowing for your facial features. Transplanted hair grows for life, so the beard can be trimmed and styled as usual.

Before anything else the shape is agreed: the surgeon draws the brow at the first consultation, you study reference images together, and your facial proportions guide the lines. Hairs sit at the natural growth angle, so the brows pass for your own. Even growth stopped by years of plucking is no obstacle.

Process
From consultation to going home — all in one day
The opening consultation covers the mechanics of FUE and of DHI, gives you room to ask, and ends with the doctor examining the donor zone.
The surgery date is secured with a deposit, which can be paid by card at the clinic or sent online, and everything is confirmed in a medical services contract.
Nothing begins until the analyses are done. The clinic supplies a complete list and explains each requirement.
Local anaesthesia is the method used here, making the whole operation painless.
Grafts come from the donor area — the back of the head or temples — collected in a way that avoids stitches entirely.
The surgical team fits the harvested grafts into the area without hair.
Healing is supported by what the clinic provides and by detailed directions on using it.
The crusts are gone, the swelling goes down, the area recovers
A normal, expected stage: hairs fall out, follicles stay in place
Thin young hairs come through and the difference is visible
The hair thickens, the main volume and the contour are visible
The final density and natural hairline are formed
Free, before surgery and without any obligation.

І experienced hair loss due to COVID and turned to this clinic; they helped me and performed a hair transplant, moving hair from the back of my head to my temples. Thank you.

I traveled to City Medical Centre, where they helped me overcome hair loss through a transplant to the balding areas of my scalp. I am grateful to the doctors for performing the procedure painlessly.

I am sharing my experience, because before the operation I went through a pile of reviews myself and was looking for real stories. I had a beard transplant six months ago. Honestly, in the first days after the procedure I felt a little jittery: my face looked unfamiliar, there was slight swelling and small scabs. In the first couple of months the hair partly fell out, as the doctor had warned. But now the result truly makes me very happy) From about the 4th month active, even growth began. The transplanted hair took very well, the beard now looks as natural as possible, no bald patches are left. The beard became much thicker and denser, with the shape I had thought about for a long time. All in all, I recommend the clinic, the doctor was polite and explained everything 👍 The result is definitely worth it!

Your main worries
People often say hair implants, but no artificial hair is used. In a hair transplant the doctor moves your own follicles (grafts) from the donor area to thinning or bald areas using FUE or DHI.
Yes — where a patient lives changes nothing at all, and photographs can be reviewed online before anything else.
FUE is $2,200 (≈ €2,000), DHI is $2,500 (≈ €2,250), combined DHI+FUE is $2,700 (≈ €2,450). A free consultation with a graft count gives you the exact, contract-fixed price.
One day covers the entire operation, and home follows.
It helps with stable pattern hair loss and a receding hairline when there are enough donor grafts. Some types of alopecia need treatment first; the doctor checks this at the consultation.
Comfort is maintained by local anaesthesia; nothing hurts at all.
FUE is cut-free graft extraction by tweezer. DHI is direct implantation with a Choi pen, skipping channel-making. The combined technique takes grafts by FUE and places them using the DHI method.
At the free consultation, the doctor counts the grafts you need according to your donor area.
Healing takes up to 0–10 days, after which a 2–4 week shed follows, and that is normal. Growth begins in earnest at 3–4 months, density arrives near 6–9 months; the whole result comes at 12–18 months.
Your procedure includes a lifetime hair-growth guarantee under contract.

A patient in Espoo will find the requirements modest: FUE and DHI ask for no cuts, no stitches and no more than local anaesthesia, and the whole operation is behind you by the end of one day.
You can begin in Espoo without leaving home: the online consultation is free, and the doctor looks at photos of the thinning area and counts how many grafts it will take. The clinic is reachable 24/7, so a message fits your schedule.
Expect healing inside 0-10 days. The transplanted hairs shed at 2-4 weeks, which is normal and passes on its own. From 3-4 months the growth begins, and the difference grows clearer with every passing week.
Prices are in US dollars; the amount in brackets is an approximate conversion to EUR at the rate of 02.10.2026. The final price is fixed in your contract.

Espoo lies on the northern shore of the Gulf of Finland, with about 58 km of shoreline and roughly 165 islands in front of it. Anyone planning a hair transplant here should think about the weather early, because the scalp is exposed to it every day. The climate is classed as humid continental. The annual mean daily maximum is 8.9 °C and the mean minimum is 3.0 °C. That is a cool, changeable setting. For most of the year a hat, a hood or a scarf is part of ordinary dress, and in the first weeks after a transplant that habit needs some thought.
The first stage of recovery is short and clearly described. During the first 0-10 days the crusts fall away, the swelling subsides and the treated area slowly recovers. The weather around you at that moment matters in practical ways: what you wear on your head, how you dry your hair after washing, and how you manage a walk to a shop or a bus stop. The care plan from City Medical Centre includes advice on washing your hair, on sleep and on headwear. The doctor explains it during the online consultation, using your own case and your own time of year.
One point deserves to be said plainly. Nobody should pick headwear from general advice found online. The donor area at the back of the head and the transplanted area are different zones with different needs, and the right choice depends on the method (FUE, DHI or the combined protocol) and on how many grafts are placed. Photos of your head sent on WhatsApp or Telegram let the doctor see the zones concerned and answer in concrete terms, so you do not have to guess. The consultation is free, and a coordinator answers round the clock.
Winter in Espoo is cold but not extreme. The mean daily maximum in January is -2.3 °C and the minimum is -6.5 °C. February is almost the same at -2.2 °C and -6.9 °C. In March the average maximum rises to 1.6 °C while the minimum is still -4.8 °C. Snow usually first falls after Christmas and melts from late March to early April. If your recovery runs through these months, a soft hat or hood will be in daily use, and it should be agreed with the doctor beforehand rather than bought in a hurry on the day you get home.
Light is the other seasonal factor. Sunshine is scarce from November to January, and day length falls to about 6 hours at midwinter. In summer it rises to about 19 hours at midsummer. July has a mean daily maximum of 21.5 °C and a minimum of 14.0 °C, and August brings 20.2 °C and 12.9 °C. These are mild summer figures, yet very long days mean the scalp can spend many hours outdoors. Headwear in summer therefore becomes a question of shade and breathability rather than warmth. The clinic's advice on headwear covers both situations, and you can ask the doctor which one applies to your dates.
Moisture matters too. Annual precipitation is 659.8 mm. August is the wettest month at 74.3 mm, followed by July at 72.4 mm and June at 63.3 mm, while April (33.6 mm) and March (35.6 mm) are the driest. A rainy late-summer week and a dry spring week create different practical problems for a healing scalp, such as damp headwear or a hood that has to double as a rain cover. Mention your expected routine to the coordinator: how you get to work, whether you cycle or take public transport, and how long you are outdoors. The advice can then be adapted to your real days.
The growth stages are the same for everyone, but the calendar around them is local. Take an example: a one-day procedure at the clinic in the first days of November 2026. The stay itself is a single day, under local anaesthesia. The first stage, 0-10 days, then ends in mid-November, when the crusts have fallen away and the swelling has gone down. This is also the darkest part of the year in Espoo, with little sunshine, so most of the early healing happens indoors or in short walks under a hat.
The next stage is shedding of the transplanted hairs, expected at 2-4 weeks, so in December 2026. This is a normal stage: only the hairs shed, while the follicles stay in place. It may coincide with Independence Day on 6 December and with the Christmas holidays, when you may see more relatives and acquaintances than usual. Knowing in advance that shedding is part of the process, and not a sign that something has gone wrong, makes those weeks easier. Your coordinator tracks progress by photo and can answer questions during the holiday days too.
First growth is expected at 3-4 months, which means roughly February to March 2027. That is when snow begins to melt, from late March to early April, so the first visible hairs appear as winter ends. Density shows at 6-9 months, around May to August 2027, and the main volume and contour become visible in the lighter half of the year. The end result arrives at 12-18 months, between November 2027 and May 2028. Follow-up visits are set at 1, 3, 6, 9 and 12 months, which here would be roughly December 2026, February, May and August 2027, and November 2027.
These dates are an example, not a promise. The exact pace depends on the transplant area, the method and the individual patient, and the doctor discusses it in the consultation. If you want the visible stages to fall in a particular season, tell the coordinator the dates you have in mind and the plan can be built around them.
Finnish public holidays shape the calendar more than many people expect. They include 1 January, 6 January, Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Monday, 1 May, Ascension, Pentecost, Midsummer Day, All Saints' Day, 6 December, and 25 and 26 December. Midsummer Day always falls on a Saturday between 20 and 26 June, and Midsummer Eve and Christmas Eve are generally not working days. In 2027 Midsummer Eve is Friday 25 June and Midsummer Day is Saturday 26 June. If a follow-up point at 6 or 9 months lands near one of these dates, it is simplest to plan around it from the start.
Online consultation removes much of this friction. Messages in WhatsApp and Telegram are answered round the clock, so a holiday does not delay the first assessment or the questions that come up afterwards. You can send photos on a Sunday evening or on Christmas Eve and get the same attention as on a weekday. What does depend on the calendar is your own availability for the day of the procedure and for the first days of rest afterwards, so it makes sense to choose a date when your work and family commitments are light.
Espoo has its own rhythm as well. Aalto University, whose main campus is in Otaniemi, has about 16,000 students and 5,200 employees, so term time brings a busy commuter pattern to parts of the city. Espoo Day is held on the last Saturday of August, which in 2027 is 28 August, and big events such as the FIBA Women's EuroBasket in 2027 at Espoo Metro Areena bring crowds. Those are the days when you may want a quiet routine, or the opposite, a reason to be out in a cap you have already tested.
Activity planning belongs here too. Espoo has the Leppavaara, Keski-Espoo, Espoonlahti and Tapiola pools, Serena Waterpark, and the sports parks of Tapiola and Leppavaara. If swimming or team sport is part of your week, ask about it at the consultation. The clinic provides a plan for returning to sport and hair care, and the doctor will say when each activity fits your recovery.
Finland has a public health system for residents, organised by the municipalities, with private care alongside it. A hair transplant at City Medical Centre is a private online-led service, and it is worth knowing how reimbursement works before you plan. Kela states that it does not pay sickness-care reimbursement for the costs of aesthetic treatment. It reimburses private care only when it is necessary treatment of illness, pregnancy or childbirth in line with accepted good practice, and it uses the Kaypa hoito recommendations and the health-care service range to judge necessity.
Kela's reimbursements are fixed amounts, not a share of the final bill. That means that even where something qualifies, the reimbursement for a private doctor's visit does not follow the size of the invoice. The service has no way of telling you in advance whether Kela would accept a particular situation. If you think yours might qualify, for example hair loss that follows an injury or a burn, which is among the conditions the doctor lists as a reason for a transplant, ask Kela directly and keep your questions and answers.
Medical suitability comes first. A transplant does not suit everyone, and the doctor may tell you at the consultation that your case can be solved without an operation. The conditions that rule it out include trichotillomania, body dysmorphic disorder, cancer, being under 18, epilepsy, serious heart conditions, diabetes mellitus, a pacemaker, AIDS/HIV, hepatitis B or C, pulmonary embolism, and patchy alopecia. Tell the doctor about any of these honestly when you send your first photos.
In Espoo you also have one practical advantage. The city is a large urban area, with about 325,716 residents at the end of 2025, and 25.9% of them have a foreign language as their mother tongue. Because of that, coordinators are used to explaining medical steps clearly in a way that is easy to follow. Prepare your questions in advance, send photos of the donor and thinning areas, and the price and graft count will be given to you before anything is booked.
It affects daily choices, mainly headwear, drying your hair and time outdoors. The annual mean maximum is 8.9 °C and the minimum 3.0 °C, so cool conditions are common. The clinic's care plan includes advice on washing, sleep and headwear. The doctor adapts it to your dates and your daily routine.
January, February and March are the coldest. The mean daily maximum is -2.3 °C in January, -2.2 °C in February and 1.6 °C in March, with minimums between -4.8 °C and -6.9 °C. If your early recovery falls in those months, ask the doctor which hat or hood suits your stage before the day of the procedure.
As an example, a procedure in early November 2026 means first growth at 3-4 months, roughly February to March 2027. Shedding comes earlier, at 2-4 weeks, so in December 2026. Density shows at 6-9 months and the end result at 12-18 months, between November 2027 and May 2028. Individual pace varies.
Online consultation runs round the clock on WhatsApp and Telegram, so holidays do not stop your questions. Follow-up points at 1, 3, 6, 9 and 12 months may fall near days such as Midsummer Eve, Christmas Eve or 6 December, when many people are off work. Tell your coordinator early and the schedule can be arranged around them.
Kela states that it does not pay sickness-care reimbursement for aesthetic treatment, and it reimburses private care only for necessary treatment of illness, pregnancy or childbirth. Whether a particular situation qualifies is decided by Kela under its own rules, so ask Kela directly. Its reimbursements are fixed euro amounts, not a share of the price.
Espoo has a long shoreline, islands and several pools. The clinic gives a plan for returning to sport and hair care, but the timing for each activity depends on your recovery and the method. Ask the doctor during the consultation, and describe the activities you do regularly, so the answer can be specific.
Neither season is better for everyone. Winter means colder days and little sunshine, so headwear is warm and light exposure is lower. Summer brings milder days (July mean maximum 21.5 °C) and about 19 hours of daylight at midsummer, so shade and breathability matter more. Choose based on your work, your holidays and the doctor's advice.
Send clear photos of the thinning areas and of the back of the head, which is the usual donor area. Mention any conditions from the contraindication list, such as diabetes or epilepsy, and any dates you want to avoid. The doctor then assesses the donor area, counts the grafts and says what result may be achievable.
