I am sharing my experience, because before the operation I went through a pile of reviews myself and was looking for real stories. I had a beard transplant six months ago. Honestly, in the first days after the procedure I felt a little jittery: my face looked unfamiliar, there was slight swelling and small scabs. In the first couple of months the hair partly fell out, as the doctor had warned. But now the result truly makes me very happy) From about the 4th month active, even growth began. The transplanted hair took very well, the beard now looks as natural as possible, no bald patches are left. The beard became much thicker and denser, with the shape I had thought about for a long time. All in all, I recommend the clinic, the doctor was polite and explained everything 👍 The result is definitely worth it!

Popular questions

We share what people
ask before booking

People often say hair implants, but no artificial hair is used. In a hair transplant the doctor moves your own follicles (grafts) from the donor area to thinning or bald areas using FUE or DHI.

City Medical Centre doctors

It is possible. Requests reach the clinic from cities near and far, and a doctor will consult you online before you decide anything.

FUE: $2,200 (≈ €2,000). DHI: $2,500 (≈ €2,250). Combined: $2,700 (≈ €2,450). A free consultation and graft count gives you the final, contract-fixed price with no hidden extras.

A day's work, and then everyone heads back to their own bed.

It helps with stable pattern hair loss and a receding hairline when there are enough donor grafts. Some types of alopecia need treatment first; the doctor checks this at the consultation.

No. Everything happens under local anaesthesia, without pain.

In FUE, grafts are harvested with a tweezer, no cuts or stitches involved. In DHI, a Choi pen implants grafts without opening channels first. The combined method pairs FUE harvesting with DHI implantation.

Only the doctor's count is reliable, and it costs nothing once the donor zone has been checked.

Healing takes 0–10 days. Transplanted hair sheds at 2–4 weeks, which is normal. New growth starts at 3–4 months, with noticeable density at 6–9 months and the final result at 12–18 months.

A contract-backed, lifetime guarantee of hair growth comes with every procedure.

A hair transplant and a patient from Murcia

A patient in Murcia is offered the same two methods as anyone else: FUE and DHI, no incisions, no sutures, local anaesthesia, one day from start to finish. Grafts take in 98-100 % of cases, and a price from $2,200 (≈ €2,000) enters the contract after a free graft count.

The first step for a resident of Murcia costs nothing and happens online: you send photos of the thinning area, the doctor examines them and counts the grafts. The clinic answers 24/7, which falls inside your own waking hours.

The healing period is 0-10 days and the shedding of transplanted hairs at 2-4 weeks is part of the plan. Growth restarts at 3-4 months, density at 6-9, the finished result at 12-18. Check-ups at 1, 3, 6, 9 and 12 months and photo tracking with a personal coordinator, with a lifetime growth guarantee.

Page medically reviewed by Anastasia A. Kolesnik, hair transplant doctor. Review date: .

A scalp under 3,077 hours of sun a year

Murcia sits at 43 m above sea level, in the middle of the huerta, with the Segura flowing through it from west to east. The climate is classed as hot semi-arid (BSh). Over the year the Observatorio records about 3,068 to 3,077 hours of sunshine, with July alone at 366 hours and December at 180. For a person planning a hair transplant, this is the first number to take seriously. Newly transplanted skin and the donor area at the back of the head are not ordinary scalp for the first weeks, and a city with this much sun asks for a plan about headwear and shade.

The service plan for the transplant includes advice on washing your hair, on sleep and on headwear, and a care plan for both the transplanted and donor areas. In Murcia the headwear part is not a detail. The hottest months, July and August, have average maximums of 34.3 and 34.5 °C and average minimums of 21.2 and 21.8 °C. The nights stay warm, so a head that has been under a cap all day gets little relief. The doctor will explain at the consultation what to wear and for how long in your case. This text does not invent that period, because it depends on the area treated and on how the skin heals.

The second point is humidity. The mean annual relative humidity is 57 %, which is not a desert figure, and the region is far from the Mediterranean coast: the sea is about 40 to 46 km away. A hat that suits a dry afternoon in the huerta can feel different on a muggy evening. The sensible choice is something light, breathable and clean. Put the washing routine from your coordinator ahead of your own habits, because a headband or cap that traps sweat against the grafted area is a question for the doctor, not for guesswork.

Rain is rare. Annual precipitation is about 282 mm, falling on only 34 days with at least 1 mm. July is the driest month at 1.2 mm, and September is the wettest at 37.6 mm, followed by December at 32.5 mm. So a thundery September or a wet December is more likely to disturb your routine than a drizzly spring. If your healing days coincide with one of those months, you will want an umbrella and a plan for getting home dry, not a hood pressed onto the scalp.

The sun is the larger concern. The 0-10 day stage in the service plan is described as one where crusts fall away, swelling subsides and the area slowly recovers. A sunburn on skin in that state is something worth avoiding by timing the procedure sensibly, and the next section looks at timing.

Choosing a start month: the 18-month calendar of a Murcia patient

A transplant is a project with a long tail. The stages are fixed: 0-10 days of healing, 2-4 weeks of shedding of the transplanted hairs (a normal stage in which only the hairs shed and the follicles stay in place), first growth at 3-4 months, density showing at 6-9 months, and the final result at 12-18 months. The follow-up visits are at 1, 3, 6, 9 and 12 months. What you can choose is where these stages fall in the Murcia year.

Take an example. Suppose the procedure is on a day in mid-November 2026. The first ten days of healing fall in late November, when the climate is mild by Spanish standards. January is the coldest month, with an average maximum of 17.2 °C and an average minimum of 5.3 °C. The record low is −7.5 °C, set in January and December, but snow is almost nonexistent, at 0.1 days a year. In other words, the shedding phase in December and early January happens in a cool, sunny, mostly dry season. It is a calm window for staying outdoors with a soft hat.

First growth at 3-4 months would then arrive around March 2027, just ahead of the spring festivals. The density phase at 6-9 months falls between roughly May and August 2027. Here the calendar turns less friendly: July and August are the hottest and sunniest months, and the record high in the city is 46.2 °C, in August. By then the hair is visibly coming back, but it is not final. The final result at 12-18 months would land between November 2027 and May 2028, so the first full-density photographs would be taken in the cool season again.

Now compare a procedure in late spring or early summer. The first ten days of healing would fall into the strongest sun of the year, and the shedding weeks into July and August. That is workable only with strict shade discipline, and the doctor may well suggest another month. Autumn and winter starts spread the demanding sun exposure over later months, when new hair is already present and the scalp is no longer healing. This is an observation about the local calendar, not a medical rule, and the final date is agreed with the doctor and confirmed in the contract before anything is booked.

Your coordinator will help you lay this timeline over your own diary. Send the dates you cannot move, such as exams, a wedding or a work deadline. Then you can see which months of the 18-month arc land on them.

Festival weeks, the Feria and the days you would rather not be under a cap

Murcia's calendar has fixed social peaks, and a patient in the early weeks may want to avoid them. The Fiestas de Primavera take place in the week after Easter Sunday. The Tuesday is the Bando de la Huerta and the Saturday is the Entierro de la Sardina, both of International Tourist Interest, and Semana Santa has the same status. The Feria de Septiembre runs in the first half of September and is the busiest festival in the city. Neighbourhood festivals, especially in June and September, add further crowded days.

These are the dates when you will be outdoors in a crowd, possibly in sun, possibly in a procession or a long evening. If the procedure were set for early March 2027, for example, the ten days of healing would be over well before Holy Week, but the shedding stage of two to four weeks could still be running. A person who does not want to explain the sparse patches at a family gathering would pick a different month. A person who does not mind may choose it for the cooler weather.

The reverse works too. If the growth stage meets the September feria, you are at about 10 months from a November start, which means density showing and the final result still some months away. You can attend, but you should not judge the result by that week. A realistic expectation is better than a photo comparison made before the 12-18 month mark.

In practice, many patients put two or three fixed dates on a piece of paper and ask the coordinator which procedure window avoids the worst overlap. The coordinators reply on WhatsApp and Telegram round the clock, so the question can be sent in the evening and answered without waiting for an office to open. The doctor still needs photographs of the donor area and the thinning zone to count the grafts and say what result is achievable, which is why the free online consultation comes first.

Cycling, hiking and student life: sun habits to adjust

Murcia has a public bike system, MuyBici, in operation since April 2015, aimed at everyday journeys. If you ride to work or lectures, you spend a lot of daylight with your head exposed at about the same angle to the sun every day. In summer that means the crown of the head, which is often the area being treated or the neighbouring skin. The coordinator's advice on sport and hair care covers the return to activity. Riding with a helmet is a separate question from the grafted area, so ask the doctor how a helmet or a cap should be handled in the first weeks and what the return-to-sport plan looks like for your case.

The municipality is large, 881.86 km², and runs from 25 m at the end of the Segura to 1,031 m at the Morro de la Fuente in the Carrascoy range. The Parque Regional de Carrascoy y El Valle lies to the south. For walkers and runners, that is where a long morning outdoors begins with little shade. Plan outings around the healing weeks with the same logic as the festivals: the first ten days are calm days, not mountain days. Later, as the hair gets denser, the sun-protection question changes from healing to long-term skin care.

There are also about 50,000 students between the Universidad de Murcia (its origins date to 1272) and the Universidad Católica San Antonio. If you are a student, the procedure may fit around an exam break, but only if the dates align with healing and the shedding stage. The doctor will also ask about general health, since the contraindications include conditions such as epilepsy, serious heart conditions, diabetes mellitus, a pacemaker, hepatitis B/C, HIV/AIDS and pulmonary embolism. Patients under 18 are not suitable for a transplant. Being young and in good health does not replace this check, and a transplant is not suitable for everyone: in some cases the doctor may find the problem can be solved without surgery.

A practical habit helps in all of these situations. Before the procedure, decide what you will wear on an ordinary hot day, a windy day and a rare rainy day, and buy that item early. A clean, loose, breathable cap or hat that you have already tried on is better than a rushed purchase on the way home.

Waiting lists and the public system: why many people plan this privately

Spain's public health system has a common portfolio of services, set out in Royal Decree 1030/2006. It does not fund techniques whose only purpose is mere aesthetic or cosmetic improvement, and procedures with an aesthetic purpose unrelated to an accident, illness or congenital malformation are excluded from specialised care. Whether a given case of hair loss falls on one side or the other is not something this text can settle, and the doctor at the consultation will talk through your situation. What is useful to know is that cosmetic procedures generally sit outside the public offer.

The waiting figures show why the question of timing matters. At 31 December 2025 the national surgical waiting list held 853,509 patients, with an average wait of 121 days and 21.6 % waiting more than six months (a later note rectified some figures from Castilla-La Mancha). Plastic Surgery had the longest average wait of any specialty, 269 days, compared with 172 days in Neurosurgery. In the Región de Murcia, 34,197 patients were in structural surgical waiting, or 21.52 per 1,000 inhabitants, with an average wait of 103 days. For first specialist consultations nationally the average wait was 102 days.

These are numbers about the public queue for medically indicated care. They are not a statement about hair transplants, and they do not mean that anyone should skip a medical check. They do explain a practical point: when a person already knows which months of the year suit them, a defined plan with a fixed date in a contract is easier to arrange around the Murcia calendar than an open-ended wait. The CMC process fixes the surgery date once the deposit is paid and confirms it under a medical services contract. Before that, the first consultation is free and nothing is booked.

Questions from the Murcia climate and calendar

Is the Murcia summer a reason to postpone a hair transplant?

It is a reason to plan carefully. July and August have average maximums of 34.3 and 34.5 °C, July receives 366 hours of sunshine, and the record is 46.2 °C. The first ten days of healing and the shedding stage are the periods when the scalp needs the most protection, so many people prefer to start in autumn or winter. The doctor will advise on the date at the consultation, and the final date is set in the contract.

Which months look calmer for the healing stage in Murcia?

The cooler months look calmer. January has an average maximum of 17.2 °C and an average minimum of 5.3 °C, December has 180 hours of sun against 366 in July, and snow occurs on only 0.1 days a year. Rain is also modest overall: 282 mm a year. September and December are the wettest months, so keep an umbrella ready rather than relying on a hood.

If I have the procedure in November 2026, what might my calendar look like?

As an illustration only: the first ten days of healing fall in late November 2026, shedding in December and early January, first growth around March 2027, visible density between about May and August 2027, and the final result between November 2027 and May 2028. Follow-up visits are at 1, 3, 6, 9 and 12 months. Your own dates will be set with the doctor and coordinator.

Can I attend the Fiestas de Primavera or the Feria de Septiembre during recovery?

That depends on where you are in the stages. The Fiestas de Primavera fall in the week after Easter Sunday and the Feria de Septiembre in the first half of September. If your shedding stage of 2-4 weeks overlaps with them, you may prefer to adjust the date. By about the 6-9 month stage density shows, but the final result takes 12-18 months, so avoid judging the outcome by a festival photograph.

I cycle with MuyBici every day. Do I need to change anything?

Probably yes, for the early weeks. A bicycle ride means long exposure of the head to sun and, with a helmet, pressure on the area. The package includes advice on headwear and a plan for returning to sport. Ask your coordinator how cycling and helmet use apply to your treated area, and plan the first days without it.

Does humidity of 57 % matter for a hat or a cap?

It can affect comfort. A mean annual humidity of 57 % with warm nights means sweat builds up under tight headwear. Choose a light, clean, breathable item and follow the washing instructions in your care plan. Whether a specific cap suits your case is a question for the doctor.

Will the public health system cover a hair transplant in Murcia?

The common portfolio excludes techniques aimed at mere aesthetic or cosmetic improvement. Whether your hair loss has a medical cause is something the doctor can discuss with you at the free online consultation. The public Plastic Surgery wait is 269 days nationally, which is another reason people ask about a fixed private date.

How do I start if I live in Murcia and have exams or other fixed dates?

Send photographs of the donor area and the thinning zone to the coordinator on WhatsApp or Telegram, together with the dates you cannot move. Coordinators answer 24/7. The doctor then counts the grafts, explains the result achievable and names the price, and nothing is booked until you confirm the plan.
