Comparison

Two approaches to ear correction

Different approaches to otoplasty change different things: one relies on sutures, the other also works on the cartilage itself. You choose with the surgeon at the consultation, after the ears have been examined.

Suture-based method

Reshapes cartilage without cutting it away

Schematic of an ear with stitches along the fold that is reshaped by the suture technique

Price at consultation

Main goal
Bring the ears closer and form the fold
Best suited when
The cartilage can be shaped with stitches alone
Approach
Permanent stitches hold the new shape

Cartilage-modifying method

Also incises, scores or reduces cartilage

Schematic of an ear with the incision behind it and the cartilage area that is reshaped

Price at consultation

Main goal
Reshape firmer or larger ear cartilage
Best suited when
Stitches alone are not enough for the shape
Approach
Cartilage thinned, scored or partly removed

Because the methods are described here only in general terms, the extent of surgery and your recovery are confirmed separately: the surgeon does this after examining your ears and discussing your wishes, since both depend on you.

Your plan is built by the surgeon at the consultation, who also explains the method chosen.

Free, before surgery and with no obligation.

Otoplasty is not for everyone

The surgeon is honest when surgery is not the answer: if your concern can be solved without it, you will be told, and the operation is advised only when it suits your ears, health and expectations.

Not sure which column applies to you?

You send photos of your ears to a coordinator in Telegram or WhatsApp, the surgeon reviews them and gives an opinion, and nothing obliges you to go ahead with surgery.

Process

From your first message to recovery: six steps

You are told about every stage beforehand, and a coordinator remains in contact with you the whole way through.

1

Online consultation and plan

You send photos and talk with the surgeon online. The surgeon examines your case, discusses what can and cannot be changed, and proposes a plan with the price.

2

Choosing and booking the date

The date is chosen with your coordinator after you are happy with the plan and the price. Booking comes last, once the surgeon has confirmed everything.

3

Pre-operative preparation

The surgeon goes over your medical history and medicines, takes photographs, and arranges standard tests where needed. Blood-thinning medicines are never stopped unless the surgeon says so.

4

The operation

Permanent stitches are used to reshape the cartilage, through an incision that is usually behind the ear. Adults and older teenagers usually have local anaesthesia, with sedation if needed, and younger children often have general anaesthesia.

5

The first hours and days

A head dressing is worn during the first days. You are shown by the team how to sleep, lying on your back without pressure on the ears, and what to look out for.

6

Recovery and follow-up

You wear a soft headband day and night for the first weeks, and then at night as the surgeon instructs. Swelling and bruising settle over several weeks, and your follow-up is scheduled by the surgeon.

During the consultation the surgeon explains how the operation will go in your case.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about otoplasty

Anaesthesia and the day of surgery in Warsaw

Many people in Warsaw live for years with ears they would like to change. Otoplasty is the surgical option: the surgeon reshapes cartilage to set prominent ears closer to the head, to reduce large ears, or to improve the shape and balance between them. Whether it fits you is decided only after the ears are examined.

Planning is individual. The incision is usually made in the fold behind the ear, so the scar is hidden, and the cartilage is reshaped with permanent stitches or, where needed, thinned, scored or partly removed. If you are in Warsaw, the surgeon explains which approach suits your ears at the consultation.

If you are in Warsaw and wondering whether ear correction suits you, the first step is a free consultation online. Contact a coordinator on Telegram or WhatsApp, available 24/7. After the surgeon's assessment you receive the confirmed plan and price, and you book only if you wish.
