Laser Liposuction

Laser-assisted liposuction melts fat with a fine laser fibre passed under the skin before the fat is suctioned out. The method is made for small, precise zones such as the chin, knees or arms, with prices at our centre starting from $1,200 per area.

How laser liposuction works

The operation starts like any modern liposuction: the area is filled with a tumescent solution containing a local anaesthetic and a vessel-narrowing agent. Then a very fine laser fibre is passed under the skin through a tiny incision. The fibre's energy melts the fat cells and, along the way, heats the underside of the skin, after which the liquefied fat is removed with a small cannula or partly absorbed by the body.

Because the fibre is thinner than a standard cannula, the incisions are tiny and the surgeon can work very close to the surface, which is exactly what small zones require.

Where laser is the right tool

Laser-assisted removal is typically used for small areas: under the chin, on the knees, on the arms, in the zones where classic cannulas are too coarse and where a single stubborn pocket of fat spoils the line. For large-volume work on the abdomen or flanks, tumescent or ultrasound methods do the job more efficiently.

You are a candidate if you are close to a healthy weight, the problem is a local deposit rather than overall weight, and your skin is healthy. There are contraindications, and the doctor decides whether surgery suits you at the free consultation.

Preparation for a small zone stays light: blood-thinning medicines pause on written instruction, alcohol is set aside for a few days, and the area arrives clean, without creams. Marking takes minutes, and with local anaesthesia the whole visit usually fits into half a day, including the observation after surgery.

A word about skin tightening

Laser liposuction is often advertised as a skin-tightening method. The honest version: the heating of the skin can give a modest tightening effect, but claims of significant tightening should be treated with caution, and the heat carries a risk of burns if the technique is not precise. If skin laxity is your main problem, a surgeon may point you to other operations instead. Ask directly what the laser can and cannot do for your area at the consultation.

How the procedure and recovery go

Duration depends on the scope: from about an hour for a small area to 3–4 hours for a combined procedure. Anaesthesia is local or general; with local anaesthesia you go home 3–4 hours after surgery, with general you spend one day in the clinic.

First changes are visible in 3–4 weeks, once the swelling has gone down; small zones tend to settle faster than large ones.

Laser, VASER or tumescent: how to choose

All three remove fat through thin instruments; the difference is how the fat is loosened. Laser melts it with heat and fits small surface zones. VASER breaks it with ultrasound and suits fibrous areas and athletic definition. Classic tumescent technique relies on fluid and manual work and handles larger volumes. The method is chosen for your specific area at the consultation, not by the glossiest name.

Ask your questions concretely: how much fat can realistically leave this particular zone, whether your skin is firm enough for an even surface afterwards, what the garment schedule will be, and at which visit the first honest before-and-after comparison happens. Precise questions get precise answers, and the contract then reflects them.

Frequently asked questions

How much does laser liposuction cost?

From $1,200 per area at our centre. The price for your specific zone is calculated at the free consultation and fixed in the contract.

Which areas suit laser liposuction best?

Small, precise zones: under the chin, the knees, the arms. For large-volume areas such as the abdomen, tumescent or ultrasound methods are more efficient.

Does laser really tighten the skin?

The heating can give a modest tightening effect, but claims of significant tightening should be treated with caution, and heat carries a burn risk if the technique is not precise. The surgeon assesses your skin honestly at the consultation.

What anaesthesia is used?

Local or general depending on the scope. With local you are discharged 3–4 hours after surgery; with general you stay one day in the clinic.

When can I return to work?

Most patients return within 7–10 days. There is no physical exertion for the first 7 days and the compression garment is worn for 4–6 weeks.

When is the final result visible?

First results show in 3–4 weeks as swelling subsides; the final contour is assessed at 3–6 months at the scheduled check-ups.
