Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

A breast lift, or mastopexy, raises the breast on the chest wall and removes the stretched skin that pulled it down, reshaping the breast without adding volume. At our centre a lift without implants costs from $4,700, and a lift combined with implants costs $5,400.

What a breast lift corrects

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight swings and time itself stretch the skin of the breast and loosen its attachment to the chest. The gland does not disappear; the breast drops, the nipple points down and the upper pole empties. A mastopexy lifts the breast tissue back up, removes the surplus skin, re-centres the nipple and rebuilds the contour. The scars sit around the areola and, in more pronounced sagging, run vertically below it and along the breast fold.

Lift alone or lift with implants

The answer depends on what has been lost. If the breast has good volume but sits too low, a lift alone restores the position, and it costs from $4,700. If volume has gone with the shape, for example after breastfeeding or major weight loss, implants add the fullness back at the same time as the lift, and that combination costs $5,400 at our centre. Doing a lift when you need volume, or an augmentation when you need a lift, is the classic mismatch; the surgeon tells you which operation your breast actually needs at the free consultation.

Who suits the operation

Candidates are healthy adults whose weight is stable and whose feeding plans are settled, since pregnancy after a lift would stretch the result again. The degree of sagging decides the technique: minimal descent needs a smaller scar, pronounced sagging needs the full pattern of incisions.

There are contraindications, including untreated findings on breast examination, and the doctor decides whether surgery suits you at the consultation. The first consultation is free and includes an examination and a result plan.

Doubts are best turned into questions beforehand: where exactly your scars will sit, how the technique affects future imaging, and what happens if your weight changes later. The answers, given for your anatomy, are what the contract then fixes.

How the operation runs

Mastopexy is done under general anaesthesia; the operation and the extent of the scars are planned individually and fixed in the contract before surgery. You spend one day in the clinic: the operation, the first night in the inpatient ward with round-the-clock nursing care, and discharge the next morning.

Preparation follows a written list from the surgeon: which medicines to pause and for how long, when to give up alcohol and cigarettes, and what to bring to the clinic on the day. The work-up includes breast ultrasound, and the results should reach the surgeon before the date so the incision pattern is planned on current images.

Recovery after a lift

The first days at home have small rules of their own: sleep on your back with the upper body raised, keep the support garment on day and night, and let short walks replace chores for a while. The scars are cared for according to the instructions, and the surgeon reviews them at the scheduled check-ups while the shape settles.

The clinic keeps in touch for a full year after the operation, and check-ups are included in the price.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a breast lift cost?

From $4,700 without implants ($5,900 without the discount) and $5,400 with implants ($6,600 without the discount) at our centre. Both prices are fixed in the contract and include follow-up.

Do I need a lift or an augmentation?

If the breast has dropped but keeps its volume, a lift is the answer; if volume is lost as well, implants are combined with the lift. The surgeon determines this at the examination.

Where will the scars be?

Around the areola and, with more pronounced sagging, vertically below it and in the breast fold. The exact pattern depends on how much skin has to be removed.

How long is the recovery?

Office work without exertion after 7–14 days; the compression garment stays on for 4–6 weeks; by three months the tissues have settled and training resumes.

Will a lift change my cup size?

A lift alone reshapes what you have and may look slightly smaller because the skin is tightened; if you want a size change, it is combined with implants or discussed as a reduction.

Can I breastfeed after a mastopexy?

Plans for future pregnancies matter: pregnancy would stretch the result again. The surgeon discusses your plans and what the operation means for them at the consultation.
