Beard transplant

FUE method, free of cuts or stitches

A surgeon marking the beard line before a transplant at City Medical Centre

Grafts are taken from the back of the head, the donor zone, through micro-punctures of about 1 mm, with no scars left. Before the operation, the doctor discusses the shape with you, taking your facial features into account. Transplanted hair grows for life, and the beard can be trimmed and styled as usual.

I am sharing my experience, because before the operation I went through a pile of reviews myself and was looking for real stories. I had a beard transplant six months ago. Honestly, in the first days after the procedure I felt a little jittery: my face looked unfamiliar, there was slight swelling and small scabs. In the first couple of months the hair partly fell out, as the doctor had warned. But now the result truly makes me very happy) From about the 4th month active, even growth began. The transplanted hair took very well, the beard now looks as natural as possible, no bald patches are left. The beard became much thicker and denser, with the shape I had thought about for a long time. All in all, I recommend the clinic, the doctor was polite and explained everything 👍 The result is definitely worth it!

Frequent questions

We share what people
ask before booking

People often say hair implants, but no artificial hair is used. In a hair transplant the doctor moves your own follicles (grafts) from the donor area to thinning or bald areas using FUE or DHI.

City Medical Centre doctors

Yes — City Medical Centre regularly treats patients from other cities and countries, starting with an online consultation.

The base prices are $2,200 (FUE), $2,500 (DHI) and $2,700 (combined). The precise cost is determined at a free consultation and graft count, then fixed in your contract.

It takes just one day from start to finish, and you're free to go home afterward.

It helps with stable pattern hair loss and a receding hairline when there are enough donor grafts. Some types of alopecia need treatment first; the doctor checks this at the consultation.

The surgery is performed under local anaesthesia, so it's painless.

FUE relies on tweezer harvesting with no incisions or stitches. DHI relies on Choi-pen implantation without channels. The combined DHI+FUE approach harvests by FUE and implants by DHI.

Graft count is calculated by the doctor at no cost, based on an assessment of your donor zone.

Expect 0–10 days to heal, then normal shedding of transplanted hairs at 2–4 weeks. Growth begins around 3–4 months, density builds by 6–9 months, and the final look appears at 12–18 months.

The clinic provides a lifetime guarantee on hair growth, stated in the contract.

It can all be checked

A hair transplant that fits an ordinary life in Fort Worth

Someone in Fort Worth needs no hospital stay for this: FUE and DHI go without cuts or stitches, under local anaesthesia, and the whole operation takes one day. Graft survival is 98-100 %, and a price from $2,200 is set in the contract after a free graft count.

No trip is needed to find out where you stand in Fort Worth. The online consultation is free, the doctor studies photos of the thinning area and names the number of grafts. The clinic answers 24/7, in normal hours for Fort Worth.

The wounds close in 0-10 days, the transplanted hairs fall out at 2-4 weeks as they are supposed to, growth starts at 3-4 months, visible density comes at 6-9 and the final picture at 12-18. Reviews are held at 1, 3, 6, 9 and 12 months by photo with a personal coordinator, under a lifetime growth guarantee.

Questions from patients in Fort Worth

Is an online hair transplant consultation possible for patients in Fort Worth?

Yes, and it is free. You send your details and answer a few questions about your health; the doctor reviews them and explains the options and the cost.

Can I choose the date of my hair transplant consultation from Fort Worth?

Yes. Write to us with the dates that suit you. You can start the free first consultation online, so you can do it from home: after the doctor reviews your details, the clinic offers its nearest free dates.

How far ahead should I plan a hair transplant?

If you want a visible result for a date, plan about a year ahead: growth starts at 3–4 months, thickens by 6–9 and is final at 12–18 months. Healing alone takes 0–10 days.

When can I get back to work in Fort Worth after a hair transplant?

The procedure takes one day and you go home the same day. Healing takes 0–10 days, and the follow-up dressings and healing check-ups are part of the price.

Which photos do I need to send for a graft count?

Clear photos of the hairline from the front, the top, the crown and the donor area at the back of the head, plus your age and whether you have had a transplant before. The doctor counts the grafts from them, and the price is fixed in the contract.

All stories about this operation →

An army camp that outlived the army

Fort Worth began in June 1849 as Camp Worth, set up on the Clear Fork of the Trinity River by Major Ripley Arnold and named after General William Jenkins Worth, a former commander of the Department of Texas who had died of cholera months earlier without seeing the site. It was one of a planned line of ten posts that Worth himself had proposed to mark the western Texas frontier. The camp flooded in its first year and moved up to the bluff where the county courthouse now stands; the War Department named it Fort Worth that November and abandoned it in 1853.

What lasted was the cattle trade. As a stop on the Chisholm Trail the town grew rich on cattle drives and ranching, which earned it the name 'Cowtown' and shaped the Western-style buildings it still shows off around the Stockyards. After the hard winter of 1873 a former local lawyer mocked the town as so quiet that a panther had been seen asleep outside the courthouse; once business recovered in 1876, Fort Worth took up 'Panther City' with pride, and a panther still appears on the police badge.

The 2020 census counted 918,915 residents, and the 2025 estimate passed a million, at 1,028,117. Fort Worth is the largest city in Tarrant County and the second-largest community in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, whose metropolitan area holds about a quarter of the population of Texas and is the largest in the American South. Next door to Dallas, it has for years ranked among the fastest-growing cities in the United States, still selling itself as the place 'where the West begins'.

Cross Timbers heat and the first weeks after a transplant

Fort Worth has a humid subtropical climate and sits in the Cross Timbers, where eastern woodland gives way to prairie. August is the hottest month, with highs around 36°C and nights near 24°C; January averages a high of about 13°C. The city's record, 113°F or about 45°C, was set in the heat wave of 1980, and North Texas supercell storms can bring large hail and tornadoes.

Behind those headline figures: Fort Worth sits in USDA hardiness zone 8a, January nights average about 2°C, and snow is a rarity at around 7 cm a year, although February 1978 brought 34 cm in one month. Rain totals about 864 mm a year; May is the wettest month at roughly 116 mm and January the driest. The coldest reading on record is -22°C, in February 1899. The National Weather Service office serving the whole Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex is based in north-eastern Fort Worth, so local forecasts and storm warnings come straight from the city.

On a Texas calendar the stages read the same as anywhere: 0-10 days for the skin to heal, implanted hairs shedding at 2-4 weeks with the follicles left behind, the first new hair at 3-4 months, noticeable density at 6-9 months and the final picture at 12-18 months.

The climate decides how the first fortnight feels. In an August heat wave, shade, a loose hat and keeping out of the midday sun matter far more than in mild January, and sweat makes the doctor's washing instructions worth following carefully. A January start puts the 3-4 month growth phase into April or May, the height of storm season; an August start places the earliest days in the hottest, most humid stretch of the year.

May, the wettest and stormiest month, is the one to watch in the first days after the procedure: a sudden downpour or hailstorm is a reason to stay in and keep the scalp dry and covered as the doctor instructs. Autumn, after the August peak, offers a calmer window with neither the worst heat nor the spring storms.

Two medical schools and a museum district

Fort Worth trains its own doctors at two schools with very different roots. UNT Health Fort Worth, a public institution, began in 1970 as the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, the first osteopathic medical school in the state, and now runs NIH-funded research. The private Anne Burnett Marion School of Medicine at Texas Christian University opened in 2019 as a joint project with UNT Health; TCU has run it alone since 2022, funded largely by the Fort Worth-based Burnett Foundation.

The private school places students across the city's hospital networks, including Baylor Scott & White, Texas Health Resources, Cook Children's and JPS Health Network, so local hospitals draw on clinicians from two separate training routes.

A few miles from the Stockyards, the Cultural District gathers museums by famous architects: the Kimbell Art Museum by Louis Kahn with an addition by Renzo Piano, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth by Tadao Ando, the Amon Carter Museum of American Art by Philip Johnson and the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History by Ricardo Legorreta. The city also hosts the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, one of the major events of the classical music year.

For residents, two medical schools feeding four large hospital networks mean a wide choice of specialists and emergency departments rather than dependence on a single campus.

Who licenses and disciplines doctors in Texas

Every doctor allowed to practise in Texas is licensed by the Texas Medical Board, a single state agency with a public record anyone can search. The board itself has twelve practising physicians and seven members of the public, each appointed by the Governor for six years and confirmed by the Texas Senate. It meets about five times a year to decide disciplinary cases, interview licence candidates and adopt the rules of medical practice, with much of the detailed work done in committees; it belongs to the Federation of State Medical Boards.

The board's remit covers both kinds of physician licensed in the United States, Doctors of Medicine (MD) and Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), which matters in a city whose public medical school began as an osteopathic college. It also acts as the Texas Physician Assistant Board and the Texas State Board of Acupuncture Examiners, so the same public record covers the physician assistants and other staff a patient may meet. By law it must meet at least four times a year, and its stated mission is to protect public health and welfare by maintaining the standards of medical practice.

Checking that record takes a few minutes and tells you more than any clinic's own claims. At the consultation, push for specifics: how the donor area will be judged, how many grafts it can yield, and when and how growth will be checked afterwards. Concrete answers reveal far more about experience than the price.

Where Medicare's coverage ends

Medicare's published guidance says it does not cover most cosmetic surgery, because such procedures change appearance rather than treat a medical condition, and a hair transplant chosen for its own sake meets none of the narrow exceptions. Most private US plans draw a similar line around elective cosmetic procedures.

So the price settled at the consultation, covering preparation, the procedure and the months of follow-up, is the full cost, whatever coverage a patient otherwise has.

Questions about a private health plan in the state go to a different body: the Texas Department of Insurance, founded in 1876 as the Department of Insurance, Statistics and History. It enforces the Texas Insurance Code, regulates every company selling insurance in Texas and helps consumers with disputes, so a patient who believes a plan has wrongly refused a claim for any treatment has somewhere to turn that is independent of both insurer and clinic.

Can I ask questions from Fort Worth before deciding?

Yes. A coordinator picks up Telegram and WhatsApp messages around the clock, and the donor area check and graft estimate are free and come first.

Does the Texas summer affect recovery?

Not the timeline, but August heat and humidity make shade, a loose hat and careful washing more important in the first days.

Is January a better time to start?

There is no medical difference. A January start keeps the first fortnight in mild weather, and the first new hair then arrives in spring storm season.

Should I worry when the new hairs shed?

No. The implanted hairs let go at 2-4 weeks, the follicles stay behind, and the first new hair appears at 3-4 months.

When will people notice?

Usually once density builds, at 6-9 months; the final picture is judged at 12-18 months.

Where can I look up a Texas doctor?

In the Texas Medical Board's public record, which covers both MDs and DOs and is more reliable than anything a clinic says about itself.

Who disciplines doctors in Texas?

The Texas Medical Board, whose twelve physicians and seven public members appointed by the Governor decide disciplinary cases as one of their core duties.

Will Medicare or private insurance pay?

No. Neither Medicare nor most private plans in Texas pay for cosmetic surgery done to change appearance.
