What is rhinoplasty, or nose reshaping surgery?
At its core, rhinoplasty is a comprehensive solution. It corrects both congenital and acquired nasal deformities, for example after a nasal injury. How is the surgery performed?
Under general anaesthesia, rhinoplasty takes from 1.5 to 3 hours depending on complexity. There are two main approaches: open and closed. The open technique involves a small incision on the columella (the tissue between the nostrils), which gives the surgeon a full view of all structures of the nose. The closed technique is performed through incisions within the nose and leaves no scars that can be seen.
