PRP and SVF cell therapy for many joints, from knee and hip to shoulder. First step: a free review of your imaging

Your blood provides platelet-rich plasma (PRP), and a small sample of adipose tissue provides the stromal vascular fraction (SVF). In regenerative joint treatment this material goes into the affected joint by injection, helping to reduce pain and inflammation and to support the tissues inside it.
People with joint pain choose it to avoid surgery or push it back, including those told a joint replacement is the only way. A lasting effect is more likely the earlier the condition is caught; the doctor evaluates this using your scans.

Large and small joints can be treated; the doctor settles the joint, the method and the injection count after checking your scans
Elbow
Pain after overuse or sports strain, wear of the joint surfaces
Hand and wrist joints
Small joints of the wrist and fingers that are stiff and sore
Knee
Meniscus trouble, worn cartilage, pain when using stairs or after walking
Hip
Early hip osteoarthritis, groin pain, limited rotation
Ankle
Pain and stiffness after sprains and old injuries
Shoulder
Pain when raising the arm, wear of the joint and surrounding tendons

Cell therapy (SVF) from your own adipose tissue
A small sample of adipose tissue is taken and processed to obtain the stromal vascular fraction (SVF), a mix of cells that take part in tissue repair. Mixed with your own plasma, it is then injected into the affected joint.
It is usually the choice when changes in the joint are more marked and the aim is a longer-lasting effect.

PRP — platelet-rich plasma from your own blood
A small amount of your blood is processed to separate plasma rich in platelets and growth factors, which is then injected into the joint. It helps settle inflammation and gives the tissues better conditions for repair.
It can be given as its own course of injections or combined with SVF.

Consultation and scan review
Before anything else, the doctor examines the joint and goes through your X-rays, MRI or ultrasound to see if the procedure is suitable. Scans can be sent to us ahead of time.

Blood sample for PRP
Blood is taken from a vein in a small amount, and it is later used to prepare platelet-rich plasma with growth factors.
The doctor tells you in advance which tests are needed.

Adipose tissue sample
A puncture on the abdomen or inner thigh, made under local anaesthetic, is used to take a small portion of adipose tissue, about 30 ml. No stitches follow.

Processing in a centrifuge
The centrifuge separates the sample into layers, the stromal vascular fraction is isolated, and it is then mixed with platelet-rich plasma.
The whole procedure is done in one day.

Injection into the joint
The prepared material is injected directly into the affected joint under ultrasound guidance, which helps place it precisely.

Follow-up
No hospital stay and no crutches. After the procedure the doctor keeps in touch and follows how your joint responds.

Follow-up visits
You come back for follow-up visits so the doctor can see how the joint responds and refine the plan. Pain usually settles over the first month, mobility improves over about three months, and the effect is complete over around six months.
Only after an examination and a review of your scans does the doctor decide whether the treatment suits you

The puncture sites are covered with small dressings, and most patients go home the same day, returning to normal daily life within a day or two. A little extra aching in the joint during the first week is an expected reaction. Pain generally eases in the first month, mobility and activity improve over about three months, and the full effect develops over around six months. How long the effect lasts differs from person to person — it depends on the stage of the condition, body weight, activity and other factors, and no one can promise a fixed result. For the first weeks, the doctor gives you individual advice on exercise and load.
Rather than replacing the joint, we work to keep your own — treatment without surgery

Your own tissue
Your own blood and adipose tissue are the only materials — nothing donor-derived or synthetic

No crutches
Punctures, not incisions; local anaesthetic; no prolonged rehabilitation

Second opinion
A doctor will independently assess your X-rays, MRI or reports free of charge once you send them

Support after the procedure
Beyond the day of the injection, we keep in touch after the procedure and follow your result
Pricing depends on the joint, the condition's stage and the method; you learn it from the doctor after the consultation

What is the difference between PRP and SVF?
PRP is platelet-rich plasma prepared from your blood; SVF is a cell fraction isolated from a small sample of your adipose tissue. They work in different ways and are often combined for a stronger regenerative effect in the joint.
Is the treatment safe?
Rejection and allergic reactions are very unlikely because the material in both methods is your own tissue. Temporary pain, swelling or bruising are possible, as with any injection, and infection is rare. Your doctor explains the risks for your case at the consultation.
How long does the effect last?
It depends. PRP usually gives an effect lasting from several months to about a year; with SVF it can last longer. Because the stage of the condition and your body affect the duration, no one can promise a fixed result.
Who should not have the procedure?
It is not carried out if you have cancer, an acute infection or a blood clotting disorder, if you are pregnant, or during a flare-up of a serious chronic illness. The doctor checks this at the consultation.
Can I treat hip osteoarthritis (coxarthrosis) without surgery?
At an early stage, combining PRP or SVF injections with exercise therapy and physiotherapy can reduce pain and help movement. When the joint is already badly damaged, replacement may be more realistic, and the doctor will say so honestly after seeing your scans.
Can avascular necrosis of the hip be treated?
At an early stage (1–2), SVF therapy may help support the blood supply to the femoral head and delay the need for joint replacement. Surgery is usually required at later stages.
Why try to avoid joint replacement?
Replacement means major surgery, a long rehabilitation, risks including infection and implants that may eventually have to be redone. When changes are early or moderate, trying to preserve your own joint first often makes sense.
Can I get a second opinion on my scans?
Yes. Send us your X-rays, MRI, CT or medical reports; a doctor will review them free of charge and tell you whether the procedure could suit you and what else might be needed.
How soon can I return to normal life?
Generally in a day or two. No crutches are needed and there is no long rehabilitation; the doctor tells you how to handle load and exercise during the first weeks.
Does the treatment help with shoulder pain?
PRP helps with shoulder joint and rotator cuff problems, and SVF may be considered when shoulder arthritis is more advanced. It depends on the cause of the pain — the doctor establishes it first.
SVF and PRP work in different ways. PRP helps calm inflammation and creates better conditions for repair; SVF contains cells involved in tissue repair and is chosen when changes are more pronounced. For patients from Sapporo, the doctor often combines the two.
PRP can be given as a course of injections or together with SVF. The number of injections and the method are chosen individually for each patient from Sapporo after the examination and scan review.
