We treat the knee, hip, shoulder and other joints with SVF and PRP. Before anything is decided, your scans are reviewed at no cost

No surgery — an injection instead of an operation

Own tissue — your blood and adipose tissue

Ultrasound guidance for every injection

and review of your scans
Regenerative joint treatment uses material from your own body — platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from blood and the stromal vascular fraction (SVF) from a small sample of adipose tissue. It is injected into the affected joint to reduce pain and inflammation and to support the tissues inside it.
If you live with joint pain and hope to postpone or avoid surgery — or were told that replacement is the only option — this may be for you. How early the condition is matters for a lasting effect, and the doctor determines the stage from your scans.

We treat large and small joints — which joint, which method and how many injections is decided by the doctor after a scan review
Elbow
Wear of the joint surfaces, pain after overuse or sports strain
Hand and wrist joints
Stiff, painful small joints in the fingers and wrist
Knee
Pain climbing stairs or after walking, cartilage wear, meniscus trouble
Hip
Early hip osteoarthritis, groin pain, limited rotation
Ankle
Pain and stiffness after sprains and old injuries
Shoulder
Pain as the arm goes up, wear of the joint and adjacent tendons

Cell therapy (SVF) from your own adipose tissue
Your adipose tissue, taken in a small sample, is processed so that the stromal vascular fraction (SVF) can be isolated: a mixture of cells that play a role in tissue repair. Together with your own plasma, it goes into the affected joint.
It is typically chosen for more pronounced joint changes, with a longer-lasting result in mind.

PRP — platelet-rich plasma from your own blood
The doctor separates plasma rich in platelets and growth factors from a small amount of your blood and injects it into the joint. This helps to calm inflammation and supports tissue repair.
It can be given as its own course of injections or combined with SVF.

Consultation and scan review
The doctor examines the joint, reviews your X-rays, MRI or ultrasound and decides whether the procedure suits you. If you already have scans, you can send them before the visit.

Blood sample for PRP
Blood is taken from a vein in a small amount, and it is later used to prepare platelet-rich plasma with growth factors.
The doctor tells you in advance which tests are needed.

Adipose tissue sample
Under local anaesthetic the doctor takes roughly 30 ml of adipose tissue through a small puncture in the abdomen or inner thigh; stitches are not needed.

Processing in a centrifuge
In a centrifuge the sample separates into layers. The stromal vascular fraction is then isolated and combined with the platelet-rich plasma.
The whole procedure is done in one day.

Injection into the joint
With ultrasound guiding the needle, the prepared material is injected directly and precisely into the affected joint.

Follow-up
You go without crutches and without a hospital stay; the doctor keeps in contact after the procedure and follows your joint's progress.

Follow-up visits
At follow-up visits the doctor sees how the joint is responding and adjusts the plan: pain usually eases in the first month, mobility improves over roughly three months, and the full effect develops over about six months.
Only after an examination and a review of your scans does the doctor decide whether the treatment suits you

Most patients return home that same day and get back to their usual daily activity in a day or two, with small dressings on the puncture sites. It is an expected reaction for the joint to ache slightly more in the first week. Over the first month the pain usually eases, over about three months mobility and activity get better, and over around six months the full effect develops. How long it lasts is individual — the stage of the condition, body weight, activity and other factors all play a part — and no one can promise a fixed result. In the first weeks, your doctor advises you individually on exercise and load.
We focus on preserving your own joint instead of replacing it, without surgery

Your own tissue
No donor or synthetic material: only your own blood and adipose tissue are used

No crutches
Local anaesthetic and punctures in place of incisions mean no long rehabilitation

Second opinion
Send X-rays, MRI or medical reports for an independent assessment by a doctor at no cost

Support after the procedure
We keep following the result and stay in touch after the procedure, not only on injection day
The price depends on the joint, the stage of the condition and the method, so the doctor gives it after the consultation

What is the difference between PRP and SVF?
PRP means platelet-rich plasma prepared from your own blood; SVF means a cell fraction isolated from a small portion of your adipose tissue. Working in different ways, they are often combined for a stronger regenerative effect.
Is the treatment safe?
Rejection and allergic reactions are very unlikely because the material in both methods is your own tissue. Temporary pain, swelling or bruising are possible, as with any injection, and infection is rare. Your doctor explains the risks for your case at the consultation.
How long does the effect last?
That varies. Often the effect after PRP lasts several months up to about a year, and after SVF it can be longer. The duration depends on the stage of the condition and on your body, so a fixed result cannot be promised.
Who should not have the procedure?
We do not perform the procedure in cases of cancer, acute infection, blood clotting disorders, pregnancy or a flare-up of a serious chronic illness. The doctor checks all of this at the consultation.
Is it possible to treat hip osteoarthritis (coxarthrosis) without surgery?
At early stages, pain can be reduced and movement improved with PRP or SVF injections combined with exercise therapy and physiotherapy. Should the joint already be badly damaged, a replacement may be more realistic — the doctor tells you honestly after looking at your scans.
Can avascular necrosis of the hip be treated?
When the condition is at an early stage (1–2), SVF therapy may be considered to support blood supply to the femoral head and delay a joint replacement; at later stages surgery is usually required.
Why try to avoid joint replacement?
Replacing a joint is major surgery, with long rehabilitation, risks such as infection and implants that may one day need replacing again. For early or moderate changes, it is often worth trying to keep your own joint first.
Can I get a second opinion on my scans?
Yes — just send whatever X-rays, MRI, CT or medical reports you have. The review by a doctor costs nothing, and you learn whether the procedure could suit you and what else is needed.
How soon can I return to normal life?
Typically within a day or two. You need no crutches and no long rehabilitation, and the doctor advises you on exercise and load for the first weeks.
Does the treatment help with shoulder pain?
PRP is used for problems of the shoulder joint and the rotator cuff, and SVF may be considered for more advanced arthritis of the shoulder. Whether it suits you depends on the cause of the pain, which the doctor establishes first.
The method relies on your own tissue only, so there is no donor or synthetic material. Plasma is prepared from a small blood sample, and SVF from about 30 ml of adipose tissue taken through a puncture. This is how non-surgical joint treatment works for everyone in Rome.
Most patients from Rome go home the same day and return to normal daily activity within a day or two. During the first week the joint may ache a little more — this is an expected reaction. Pain usually eases over the first month.
A consultation is the first step for every patient from Rome. It is free, and after it you know the method, the number of injections and the cost.
