We treat the knee, hip, shoulder and other joints with SVF and PRP. Before anything is decided, your scans are reviewed at no cost

No surgery — an injection instead of an operation

Own tissue — your blood and adipose tissue

Ultrasound guidance for every injection

Free consultation
and review of your scans
Regenerative care for joints is based on your own material. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is obtained from blood, and the stromal vascular fraction (SVF) from a small amount of adipose tissue; the doctor then injects it into the affected joint to reduce pain and inflammation and to support its internal tissues.
This treatment suits people with painful joints who would like to avoid or delay surgery, or who have been told that only a joint replacement will help. The earlier the stage, the better the prospect of a lasting result — the doctor judges this from your scans.

Free consultation and review of your scans
Treatment covers large and small joints, with the joint, the method and the number of injections chosen after the doctor reviews your scans
Elbow
Pain after overuse or sports strain, wear of the joint surfaces
Hand and wrist joints
Stiffness and pain in the small joints of the hand and wrist
Knee
Cartilage wear, meniscus problems, pain on stairs and after walking
Hip
Early hip osteoarthritis, groin pain, limited rotation
Ankle
Pain and stiffness after sprains and old injuries
Shoulder
Wear of the joint and its tendons, pain when raising the arm

Cell therapy (SVF) from your own adipose tissue
From a small sample of your adipose tissue, the stromal vascular fraction (SVF) is isolated — cells that are involved in tissue repair. This fraction, combined with your plasma, is injected into the affected joint.
More marked changes in the joint and the wish for a longer-lasting effect are the usual reasons to choose it.

PRP — platelet-rich plasma from your own blood
The joint receives an injection of plasma rich in platelets and growth factors, separated from a small amount of your blood. It helps soothe inflammation and creates better conditions for the tissues to repair.
A course of injections can be done with it alone, or it can be paired with SVF.

Consultation and scan review
The doctor examines your joint, looks at your X-rays, MRI or ultrasound and decides whether the procedure is right for you. Scans you already have can be sent ahead of the visit.

Blood sample for PRP
A small volume of blood is drawn from a vein, which is later turned into platelet-rich plasma with growth factors.
The doctor tells you in advance which tests are needed.

Adipose tissue sample
Under local anaesthetic the doctor takes roughly 30 ml of adipose tissue through a small puncture in the abdomen or inner thigh; stitches are not needed.

Processing in a centrifuge
The sample is centrifuged and divides into layers; the stromal vascular fraction is isolated from it and mixed with platelet-rich plasma.
The whole procedure is done in one day.

Injection into the joint
The prepared material is injected straight into the affected joint under ultrasound guidance, which helps to place it precisely.

Follow-up
Neither a hospital stay nor crutches are required. The doctor stays in contact after the procedure and monitors how the joint responds.

Follow-up visits
The doctor uses follow-up visits to see the joint's response and change the plan if needed. Usually pain eases during the first month, mobility gets better over about three months, and the full effect takes around six months.

Recovery is short: most people go home the same day and are back to normal daily activity within a day or two, and the puncture sites only need small dressings. A slight increase in joint ache during the first week is an expected reaction. Typically pain eases over the first month, mobility and activity improve over about three months, and the full effect develops over around six months. How long it lasts varies with the person, the stage of the condition, body weight, activity and other factors — no one can promise a fixed result. For the first weeks the doctor gives you individual advice on exercise and load.
We work on keeping your own joint rather than replacing it — treatment without surgery

Your own tissue
No donor or synthetic material: only your own blood and adipose tissue are used

No crutches
Instead of incisions, punctures under local anaesthetic, and no long rehabilitation afterwards

Second opinion
Send your X-rays, MRI or reports and a doctor will give an independent assessment free of charge

Support after the procedure
We remain in contact after the procedure and track the result, not just the injection day
How much it costs depends on the joint, the method and the stage of the condition — the doctor tells you after the consultation

What is the difference between PRP and SVF?
PRP is platelet-rich plasma prepared from your blood; SVF is a cell fraction isolated from a small sample of your adipose tissue. They work in different ways and are often combined for a stronger regenerative effect in the joint.
Is the treatment safe?
Using your own tissue in both methods means a very low risk of rejection or an allergic reaction. Temporary pain, swelling or bruising can happen with any injection, and infection is rare. The doctor explains the risks for your case during the consultation.
How long does the effect last?
It is different for everyone: after PRP the effect frequently lasts from several months to roughly a year, and SVF can give a longer effect. The stage of the condition and your body decide the duration, so no fixed result can be promised.
Who should not have the procedure?
The doctor checks at the consultation that you have no cancer, acute infection or blood clotting disorder, are not pregnant and are not in a flare-up of a serious chronic illness — in these cases the procedure is not done.
Is non-surgical treatment possible for hip osteoarthritis (coxarthrosis)?
PRP or SVF injections, combined with exercise therapy and physiotherapy, can reduce pain and improve movement at early stages. If damage to the joint is already severe, replacement may be more realistic — the doctor gives an honest answer after seeing your scans.
Can avascular necrosis of the hip be treated?
SVF therapy may be an option at early stages (1–2) to support blood supply to the femoral head and postpone joint replacement. At later stages, surgery is usually needed.
Why try to avoid joint replacement?
Joint replacement is a major operation: rehabilitation takes long, infection is among the risks, and an implant may one day have to be redone. With early or moderate changes it is often sensible to try keeping your own joint first.
Can I get a second opinion on my scans?
Yes. Your X-rays, MRI, CT or medical reports are reviewed by a doctor free of charge, and you will hear whether the procedure could suit you and what else may be needed.
How soon can I return to normal life?
Usually after a day or two. Crutches and long rehabilitation are not needed; for the first weeks you get recommendations on load and exercise from the doctor.
Does the treatment help with shoulder pain?
The doctor first establishes what is causing the pain: PRP is used for shoulder joint and rotator cuff problems, and SVF may be considered for more advanced arthritis of the shoulder. Suitability depends on that cause.
The earlier the stage, the better the chance of a lasting effect. That is why patients from Lima start with a review of their X-rays or MRI: the doctor assesses the joint and tells you honestly whether SVF or PRP is likely to help or whether another option is more realistic.
The procedure in Lima takes one day. Blood is taken from a vein for PRP, a small portion of adipose tissue is taken under local anaesthetic without stitches, the material is spun in a centrifuge, and the prepared mix is injected precisely into the affected joint.
The cost of joint treatment depends on the joint, the stage of the condition and the method, so the price is set at the consultation. The initial consultation and review of your scans are free for patients from Lima. Leave your name and phone number, and a coordinator will contact you.
