How it works
A correction plan agreed with you, inpatient observation and a year of follow-up.
1The surgeon assesses your figure, discusses your wishes and chooses the best volume, shape and correction method.
2A surgery date is booked in your name: pay the deposit by card at the clinic or by online bank transfer. The terms are recorded in the contract for medical services
3Ahead of surgery you go through full testing — blood tests, an ECG and other examinations as prescribed by the doctor.
4The surgeon performs mammoplasty according to your individual plan. The operation takes place under general anesthesia with continuous patient monitoring.
5Following surgery, you recover in a comfortable inpatient ward of the clinic with the medical team looking after you until discharge.
6A recovery programme is prescribed after surgery. Check-ups at 7 days, 3 and 6 months follow your recovery, and for a year after surgery you consult your surgeon for free.

Before surgery, come off aspirin-containing drugs, steroids and any hormonal medications for chronic conditions
Stop taking hormonal oral contraceptives at least one month prior to the procedure
Get your tests a week ahead of surgery
Some simple steps help before surgery: a healthy work-life balance, more sleep, avoiding stress, anxiety and strong emotions, and less physical activity.
For as long as 40 days, stay away from intense gym workouts and overly active aerobics; light cardio is possible after a month. Monitor your diet and meals.
Swelling after surgery goes away after 3 weeks
Discomfort goes away after 3 months
Scars develop within 3 weeks
Avoid exertion (lifting over 3 kg)
It takes up to 3 months for inflammatory tissue changes to resolve and for a “pocket” to form around the implant
During recovery after correction, compression garments are worn for 1–1.5 months
Do not raise arms above shoulder level for 3 weeks
No tub baths or saunas for up to three months, and no physiotherapy

FAQ
Mammoplasty is an umbrella for several procedures: augmentation (increasing volume with implants), reduction (taking away excess tissue and skin), mastopexy (lifting sagging breasts), reconstruction (after mastectomy) and asymmetry correction. Your wishes and the surgeon's advice determine the best individual method.
Message us — our coordinator will get back to you shortly and book your consultation. The plastic surgeon consultation is free.
Following all recommendations makes complications rare. Still, they may involve hematoma or seroma, infection of the wound, decreased or increased nipple sensitivity, capsular contracture, aesthetic asymmetry, wound separation and tissue necrosis.
The results of mammoplasty are long-lasting: roughly 10–15 years after augmentation (until the implants are replaced) and 5–10 years after a lift or reduction. Weight, pregnancy, skin aging and gravity all influence how long they last. Wearing supportive underwear and managing your weight help maintain the result.
Breastfeeding after mammoplasty depends on the procedure. Augmentation through an under-breast or armpit incision with a submuscular implant usually keeps lactation intact, since glandular tissue is not damaged. With a lift or reduction the risk is higher, because ducts may be cut. Be sure to discuss this with your surgeon in advance.
When choosing implants, the factors are material (silicone looks most natural, saline is used less often), shape (round or anatomical teardrop), surface (smooth or textured), size and profile. The surgeon will find the best option for your anatomy and preferences.
The surgery is carried out under general anesthesia, and the patient feels nothing. Moderate discomfort is possible during the first 1–3 days and is relieved by pain medication. Pain falls significantly by day 5–7, and by weeks 2–3 discomfort is over. If you have severe pain, tell your doctor at once.
Most patients return to work (without physical exertion) after 7–14 days. Light walks are fine after 1–2 weeks. Fitness and swimming come after 4–6 weeks, strength training after 3 months, pool and sea after 4–6 weeks. Compression garments are worn for 4–6 weeks. Exact timing depends on your recovery.
No scientific evidence shows that mammoplasty raises the risk of breast cancer, and implants do not cause cancer. After surgery, continue regular screening with self-exams, mammography and ultrasound, and always tell the examining doctor that you have implants.
A C-section does not rule out mammoplasty, but full recovery of the body must come first. Wait 6–12 months or more after giving birth and after you stop breastfeeding. Before surgery, you must have a surgeon's consultation and check-up.
Mammoplasty always leaves scars, though with a skilled surgeon they are minimal. The incisions are hidden under the breast, around the areola or in the armpit. Scars are reddish in the early months but fade within 6–12 months and become almost invisible.
Mild asymmetry in the first weeks after surgery is normal and results from swelling and uneven healing. If a difference in shape or size remains after 3–6 months, see your surgeon for an examination to identify the cause.
After mammoplasty, nipple and breast sensitivity may change temporarily — decrease or increase. The cause is irritation of nerve endings. In most cases sensitivity returns within 3–12 months. If there is no improvement after a year, see your surgeon.
Although hormonal drugs (contraceptives, hormone replacement therapy) have no direct impact on implants, they can produce swelling or changes in breast tissue volume, temporarily affecting appearance. Be sure your surgeon knows about such medications before surgery.

What exactly changes with augmentation? Volume grows and the bust gains a rounder or a more natural teardrop profile, depending on the implant selected. If you are researching breast augmentation in Tamale, keep in mind that implants come smooth or textured and are selected for each body. With an under-breast or armpit incision and the implant placed under the muscle, lactation is usually preserved.
Inside the operating room the process is methodical: antiseptic treatment, marking of incision lines and the new breast position, general anesthesia, an incision chosen for your anatomy, creation of a pocket and placement of the implant. Drains are used only if needed, and a sterile dressing plus compression garments finish the procedure. For Tamale patients, the inpatient stay afterwards is one day.
How much is breast augmentation in Tamale? From $4,700 (≈ GHS 55,000) for the complete package. That sum includes the surgery, anesthesia, inpatient care with meals, round-the-clock monitoring by staff and a full year of post-op follow-up until the final result. To start, send your name and phone number or write in a messenger; a coordinator will contact you and book a free consultation.

Tamale is the capital of the Northern Region of Ghana and the country's third largest city, with a population of 374,744 people as of the 2021 population census. It lies in the Kingdom of Dagbon, Ghana's oldest kingdom, and has been ranked as the fastest-growing city in West Africa. A growing city brings more women who work, study and run households, and many of them now ask about breast augmentation in a calm, practical way. They want to know how the operation fits into a busy week, what the recovery looks like and how to keep the result in good condition.
Breast augmentation with implants is a planned operation. It is performed under general anaesthesia, so there is no sensation during the surgery itself. The usual stay is 1 day or 1–2 days, depending on how you feel and on the surgeon's assessment. Most of the planning happens before the operation, and it can happen from home: the consultation with the City Medical Centre is online and free, and coordinators answer on Telegram and Telegram around the clock.
A good first conversation is not about size alone. It covers your goals, your body proportions, your health history, your work and the rhythm of your family life in Tamale. The surgeon then proposes an implant plan and an incision location, and you decide at your own pace without pressure.
Tamale has a tropical savanna climate (Köppen Aw) with one main rainy season a year. Mean monthly temperatures are on average around 34 °C, and the minimum monthly temperatures are around 23 °C. Relative humidity is usually the lowest between December and March, at about 30%, and the highest around August, at about 70%. Heavy thunderstorms are typical in the rainy season, with mean monthly rainfall of about 89 mm over 95 days of showers.
For recovery, the heat is the main practical factor. A compression garment is worn after the correction for 1–1.5 months in some protocols, and in the general schedule compression garments stay on for 4–6 weeks. In a hot city, choose soft, breathable, well-fitting garments, keep spare sets so you can change them, and wash them gently. Keep the skin clean and dry, and stay in the shade or indoors during the hottest hours. Sweating itself does not spoil the result, but a damp garment against healing skin is uncomfortable, so change it as needed.
Humidity changes through the year too. In the drier months, dust is part of daily life, so keep dressings and wounds protected from it and follow your surgeon's wound care instructions closely. In the humid, rainy weeks, keep the skin dry and ventilated. Whichever season you pick, drink enough water and rest in a cool room during the first days.
There is no single correct month in Tamale; the choice depends on your calendar. The dry stretch from December to March has the lowest humidity, which many patients find more comfortable under compression garments. The rainy season brings heavy storms and high humidity around August, which can make the garment feel heavier but also keeps you indoors and resting, which suits the early days.
Plan around three practical blocks. First, the first days after surgery, when you need rest and help at home. Second, the first weeks, when you avoid heavy exertion: no lifting more than 3 kg and no lifting arms above shoulder height for 3 weeks. Third, the period up to 4–6 weeks, when fitness and swimming are allowed according to your recovery.
Think also about the festivals that matter in the city. Tamale celebrates the Bugum chugu, the Damba festival, Eid ul-Fitr and Eid Adha. These are days of family gatherings, travel within the region by relatives, long meals and festive clothing. Many women prefer to finish the main recovery before these dates so they can enjoy them without restrictions. Count back from the festival date: swelling after surgery goes away after 3 weeks, and discomfort fades after 3 months, so a margin of several weeks is wise.
The economy of Tamale rests on agriculture, followed by trading, teaching and manufacturing. These jobs differ a great deal in physical load, and that decides your return date. You may go back to work, with no physical exertion, after 7–14 days, and timing depends on your recovery. A teacher or an office worker usually returns to the desk or classroom sooner than a trader who carries goods or a woman who works on a farm.
If your work involves lifting, carrying loads or long hours in the sun, speak openly about it during the online consultation. The restriction on lifting more than 3 kg is a real limit, and it is better to arrange help at the market stall, in the shop or at home than to hurry back. Light walks are possible after 1–2 weeks, and they help you keep active without strain.
Tamale is also an educational hub of Northern Ghana, and many students and young teachers live here. For them, plan the operation around a break in the academic calendar when possible. Sitting in a classroom is acceptable earlier than physical activity, but you still need rest, comfortable clothing and time for check-ups. Discuss the details with your coordinator, who is available 24/7, so that the plan fits your timetable rather than the other way round.
Tamale loves football, and the city has a sporting tradition around Real Tamale United and the stadium that hosted matches during the 2008 African Cup of Nations. Whether you play, run, train in a gym or only watch with friends, the rules after augmentation are clear and should be followed step by step.
For as long as 40 days, stay away from intense gym workouts and overly active aerobics. Light cardio is possible after a month. Fitness and swimming are allowed after 4–6 weeks, pool and sea after 4–6 weeks, and strength training after 3 months. Monitor your diet and meals during this time, because weight changes affect the result over the years.
Team sports with sudden arm movements, contact or falls should wait until your surgeon confirms that you are ready. In the heat of Tamale, avoid training in the strongest sun at first. Start with short, gentle sessions in the cooler part of the day, wear a supportive sports bra and stop if you feel pulling or pain. Your surgeon's check-ups at 7 days, 3 months and 6 months help to decide when each activity can return.
Food culture in Tamale is built around shared meals, hospitality and large family celebrations, especially during festivals. During recovery, you do not need a special diet, but you should eat regular, balanced meals, drink enough fluids and avoid heavy overeating, because weight changes influence the shape of the breast over time. The World Health Organization notes that overweight and obesity are linked to many health problems, so a stable, healthy weight is good for your overall health and for the lasting look of your result.
At family events you will probably be offered a lot of food and asked to help in the kitchen. In the first weeks, do not lift heavy pots or large containers. Ask relatives to take over the lifting and carrying, and sit down when you can. Choose comfortable clothing that does not press on the chest, and keep your compression garment on as advised.
Results after mammoplasty last a long while: about 10–15 years for augmentation, until implant replacement. Weight changes, pregnancy, skin aging and gravity affect their duration. To maintain the result, choose supportive underwear and control your weight. This is advice for life in any city, but in a place where food is such an important part of social life, it deserves a moment of attention.
Because general anaesthesia is used, you feel nothing during the surgery. In the first 1–3 days you may feel moderate discomfort, which painkillers relieve. Pain subsides significantly by day 5–7, and discomfort is gone by weeks 2–3. If pain becomes severe, inform your doctor right away. The centre provides 24/7 monitoring by medical staff, and a coordinator will call you back 24/7.
Swelling after surgery goes away after 3 weeks. In the first weeks, slight asymmetry is normal, because swelling and uneven healing are behind it. If shape or size still differ after 3–6 months, see your surgeon for a check-up to find the reason. In 3 months any inflammatory changes in the tissue disappear, and a pocket forms around the implant.
Breast and nipple sensitivity may change for a time, going down or up, because nerve endings are irritated. In the majority of cases sensitivity is restored within 3–12 months. If nothing has improved after a year, consult your surgeon. Scars are present, though a skilled surgeon keeps them minimal: incisions go in discreet places such as under the breast, around the areola or in the armpit. Early on they are reddish, and over 6–12 months they fade and are almost unnoticeable. Protect them from strong sun, which is a real consideration in Tamale, with clothing rather than relying on exposure to light.
The whole preparation can be done from your phone. You contact the coordinators on Telegram or Telegram, tell them about your goals and health, and send the photos and information the surgeon asks for. The consultation is online and free. If you live in a quarter of Tamale with an unstable connection, you can agree on a quieter time and continue by message; the coordinators are available around the clock.
After surgery you get a recovery programme. Check-ups at 7 days, 3 and 6 months help track your recovery. For a year after surgery, consultations with your surgeon are free, and follow-up support lasts for 12 months. Your time matters to us: we work 24/7, booking is easy, and our personal approach adapts to your pace.
Questions worth asking the surgeon: which implant type and size suit my body, where the incision will be, how long I will stay (1 day or 1–2 days), when I can go back to work, how to wear the compression garment in hot weather, which activities I must avoid and when strength training can return, and how to plan for later life events such as pregnancy.
Tamale began as a cluster of small villages under the Kingdom of Dagbon and was a well-known stop on the cattle trails of the region. In 1907 the British chose the area for their administrative headquarters, with the help of the Dakpema, after German officials had taken over Yendi. A road built in 1920 and nicknamed the 'Great North Road' turned the town into a business centre of the Northern Territories, and in 1960 it became the capital of the Northern Region.
This history matters for planning because Tamale is a city of newcomers and of old families at the same time. Many women arrived from rural districts for work, trade or study, and they often live close to relatives from several generations. Before you decide on breast augmentation, think about who in this household will help you in the first days: lifting is limited, and no lifting arms above shoulder height is allowed for 3 weeks. Agree on the roles at home before the operation date, not after it.
The population grew from 371,351 people in the 2010 census to 374,744 in the 2021 census, and the city is described as the fastest-growing in West Africa. Fast growth means busy streets and long daily journeys, so ask your coordinator to arrange the online consultation and the check-ups at 7 days, 3 and 6 months at times that do not clash with your commute.
Tamale Central Market is the heart of the city's trade, and farming and trading are the main economic activities. For a woman who sells goods, stands for long hours or hauls baskets and sacks, breast augmentation needs a concrete work plan. Back to work after 7–14 days applies to work without physical exertion, while the limit of 3 kg for lifting remains.
A practical way to manage this is to prepare the stall in advance: stock the goods in smaller packs, ask a relative or a colleague to carry and unload, and move the heavier items to the shelves at waist height so you do not raise your arms. Droughts and heatwaves, which are becoming more common around Tamale, also affect farm incomes, so some women prefer a time of year when the workload is lighter.
Say frankly in your first message to the coordinator what your day looks like. The surgeon can then tell you whether you should rest at home for the full period or can supervise the stall while others do the lifting.
Tamale became the educational hub of Northern Ghana. The first institution was a teacher training college in 1944, followed by a secondary school in 1951, and the suburb known as Education Ridge has several schools in an area of about 3 km2. Teachers, lecturers, nurses and students are a large group among the city's women, and the University for Development Studies is led by a vice chancellor named in the city's notable people.
For a teacher, the timetable is the main question. A classroom without physical load is possible after 7–14 days, but standing for many hours, writing on a board with raised arms and supervising sport are different. Arms above shoulder height are restricted for 3 weeks, so plan the operation for a school break, and let swelling, which goes away after 3 weeks, settle before you return to a full timetable.
Tamale Teaching Hospital, the third largest hospital in the country, trains doctors, nurses and nutrition specialists in the city. If you have chronic conditions or a local doctor who knows your history, bring those records to the online consultation so the surgeon of the City Medical Centre can see the full picture. The follow-up programme with free consultations for a year works alongside your usual doctor.
Festivals in Tamale are visible: the Damba festival, Bugum chugu, Eid ul-Fitr and Eid Adha fill the streets with drums, processions and ceremonial clothing. The Dagbamba dances Baamaya and Tora are part of this culture, and the city's culture centre shows the arts of the region. About 90.5% of residents are Muslims according to the 2010 census, so many women dress modestly and in layers.
Layered, loose clothing is useful after augmentation: it hides a compression garment, does not press on the chest, and is easy to put on without raising your arms. Compression garments stay on for 4–6 weeks, so during a festival within that window choose wide sleeves and front-opening tops.
Energetic dancing and crowds are better postponed until you are cleared by the surgeon. Light walks are possible after 1–2 weeks, but dancing with strong arm movements should wait, and strength training only returns after 3 months. Count back from the date of your festival so that the main recovery is behind you.
Motorbikes are the most common means of transport in Tamale, with a record of 600,032 locals owning one in 2024. Tricycles known as 'Mahama-Cambuu' or 'yellow-yellow' are also common, as are taxis and city buses. During recovery, a motorbike is a poor choice: vibration, sudden braking and the need to grip handlebars strain the chest and arms.
Arrange a car, a seat in a taxi or a lift from a relative for the first weeks. Sit upright, hold a small pillow against the chest if the road is rough, and avoid pulling heavy doors or bags. If you need an urgent answer, you do not have to go anywhere: a coordinator will call you back 24/7 and medical staff monitor your case around the clock.
Check-ups at 7 days, 3 and 6 months can be held remotely, which saves you the morning journey through traffic and the heat of the Tamale midday, around 34 °C on average.
Breast augmentation suits adult women in good general health who want a larger or fuller breast and have realistic expectations. A careful consultation and check-up are required before any decision. Tell your surgeon about chronic illnesses, medicines, previous operations and allergies. Some conditions mean the operation should be postponed or reconsidered, and the surgeon decides this individually.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding are important. Mammoplasty after a C-section is possible, but only once your body has fully recovered. Allow at least 6–12 months after giving birth and after breastfeeding stops. Many women in Tamale have large families, so it is natural to ask about the right moment. A conversation with the surgeon helps you choose a time when your body is ready and your family routines are stable.
Be wary of any plan that promises an exact outcome. Each body heals differently, and the result is a combination of surgical technique, implant choice and your own tissue. A responsible consultation includes limits and possible complications, not only pictures.
Yes. The consultation with the City Medical Centre is online and free. You write to the coordinators on Telegram or Telegram, who are available 24/7, and then speak with the surgeon remotely. A coordinator will call you back 24/7.
The operation is performed under general anaesthesia, and the stay is 1 day or 1–2 days, depending on the plan and your condition. Your surgeon explains the exact schedule during the consultation.
You may go back to work, with no physical exertion, after 7–14 days. Timing depends on your recovery. If your job involves carrying loads or farm work, you will need longer and some help with heavy tasks.
Compression garments stay on for 4–6 weeks, and in some protocols 1–1.5 months after a correction. In hot weather, choose breathable, well-fitting garments, keep a spare, change when damp, rest in a cool place and drink enough water. Follow your surgeon's instructions on when you can take it off.
Avoid intense gym workouts and overly active aerobics for as long as 40 days. Light cardio is possible after a month. Fitness and swimming are allowed after 4–6 weeks, pool and sea after 4–6 weeks, and strength training after 3 months.
In the first 1–3 days you may feel moderate discomfort, which painkillers relieve. Pain subsides significantly by day 5–7, and discomfort is gone by weeks 2–3. If pain becomes severe, inform your doctor right away.
There are scars, though a skilled surgeon keeps them minimal. Incisions go under the breast, around the areola or in the armpit. Early on they are reddish, and over 6–12 months they fade and are almost unnoticeable. Protect them from strong sun.
About 10–15 years for augmentation, until implant replacement. Weight changes, pregnancy, skin aging and gravity affect their duration. Supportive underwear and a stable weight help maintain the result.
It is possible once your body has fully recovered. Allow at least 6–12 months after giving birth and after breastfeeding stops, and have a consultation and check-up with a surgeon before surgery.
You get a recovery programme with check-ups at 7 days, 3 and 6 months. Consultations with your surgeon are free for a year, and follow-up support lasts for 12 months, with 24/7 monitoring by medical staff and coordinators on Telegram and Telegram.
It is better to avoid it in the first weeks. Vibration, braking and gripping the handlebars strain the chest and arms, and lifting arms above shoulder height is restricted for 3 weeks. Use a car or a taxi and ask your surgeon when you may return to the bike.
Work without physical exertion is possible after 7–14 days. Lifting more than 3 kg is still not allowed, so arrange help for carrying and unloading and keep goods at waist height.
A school break is ideal. A classroom without heavy load is possible after 7–14 days, but swelling goes away only after 3 weeks and arms above shoulder height are restricted for that time, so a margin is wise.
Quiet attendance is possible when you feel well, in loose clothing over your compression garment. Avoid energetic dancing, crowds and lifting until your surgeon agrees, and plan the operation several weeks before the festival if you can.
