What is liposuction
and who is it for?

Surgical removal of excess subcutaneous fat from problem areas is what liposuction offers. It is no weight-loss method and no substitute for diet or exercise; its aim is targeted contouring, removing saddlebags on the thighs, a sagging belly and deposits on the back, flanks, arms or chin.

If certain areas hold fat while your weight is normal and your lifestyle active, liposuction is for you. Fat cells removed from treated areas do not come back, which means that with a stable lifestyle the result lasts a long time.

Liposuction techniques at City Medical Centre

Tumescent (classic) liposuction

The surgeon starts by injecting a special saline-based solution containing lidocaine, adrenaline and several other agents into the treatment area. It loosens fatty tissue and constricts vessels, which minimises bleeding and allows gentle removal. The fat emulsion is then removed by vacuum through a thin cannula.

Swelling and bruising after surgery are almost absent, and recovering is much easier than with a conventional procedure.

VASER liposuction (ultrasound)

Ultrasound is used to break down fat cells ahead of vacuum removal. The method is ideal when you want clear muscle relief — athletic abs — and body contouring.

It also suits delicate areas.

How the surgery goes: from consultation to result

Surgeon consultation

The doctor listens to you, performs an examination, evaluates your fat deposits and checks for contraindications. City Medical Centre also orders hormonal screening — it helps to predict the long-term result.

Pre-operative tests

Complete blood count, coagulation panel, biochemistry and infection tests (HIV, hepatitis, syphilis), an ECG, chest X-ray and, if needed, a consultation with a GP.

All tests can be done at the clinic with no waiting.

Preparation

2 weeks before, stop medicines that affect blood clotting. A week before, give up alcohol and smoking to heal faster. 8 hours before, have your last meal.

Surgery day

Areas are marked, compression garments fitted and you meet the surgeon. Whether anesthesia is local or general depends on the scope.
Length of surgery: from 1 hour (small areas) to 3–4 hours (combined procedure).

Waking up and monitoring

If anesthesia is general, you stay in hospital for one day under observation. If it is local, you are discharged 3–4 hours after surgery.

Recovery

Wear compression garments for 30–45 days. You see first results in 3–4 weeks when swelling subsides, and the final result at 3 months, when the skin has fully tightened.

Recovery after liposuction

The recovery after tumescent liposuction is far shorter than after a conventional procedure: most people go back to work in 3–7 days. Mild swelling and a raised temperature during the first week are normal responses to surgery. Compression garments, worn for 30–45 days, fix the new contours and speed up tissue recovery. No bathhouse, sauna, pool or intense sport during the first month. Lymphatic drainage massage, pressotherapy and a gradual return to activity are what we recommend for the best result and faster recovery. First visible changes appear in 3–4 weeks; the final result appears at 3 months.

Liposuction: frequently asked questions

Liposuction in Amravati: from consultation to result

Which zones can be treated? The abdomen and flanks are the most requested, for women and men alike. Thighs (outer and inner), back and lower back, arms and shoulders, chin and neck, knees and the male chest are also corrected. Several areas can be done in one operation, saving recovery time and budget, which is why patients from Amravati rarely limit themselves to a single zone.

It starts with a surgeon consultation: the doctor listens to your wishes, assesses the fat deposits and rules out contraindications, and a hormonal screening is ordered to predict the long-term result. Patients from Amravati then take pre-operative tests — blood count, coagulation panel, biochemistry, infection screening, ECG and chest X-ray — which can all be done at the clinic with no waiting.

One operation can cover several problem zones, and the price reflects that: from $1,200 for a single area, calculated individually for combinations. The contract fixes the sum with no hidden extras, and instalments carry no interest. For patients from Amravati, a free surgeon consultation is the place to plan scope and cost together.
