How it works
An agreed plan for the correction, observation in hospital and recovery monitoring for a year.
1The surgeon looks at your figure, talks through your wishes and picks the best volume, shape and correction method.
2A surgery date is booked in your name: pay the deposit by card at the clinic or by online bank transfer. The terms are recorded in the contract for medical services
3Before the operation you take a full set of tests: blood tests, an ECG and any other examinations the doctor prescribes.
4Your surgeon carries out the mammoplasty following your personal plan, under general anaesthesia and with constant monitoring of your condition.
5Following surgery, you recover in a comfortable inpatient ward of the clinic with the medical team looking after you until discharge.
6After surgery you get a recovery programme. Check-ups at 7 days, 3 and 6 months help track your recovery. For a year after surgery, consultations with your surgeon are free.

Before the operation, follow some easy steps: maintain a sound work-rest balance, sleep more, avoid stress, anxiety and strong feelings, and reduce your physical load.
Come off hormonal oral contraceptives no later than a month before the procedure
Before the operation, discontinue aspirin-containing drugs, steroids and hormonal therapy for chronic conditions
Do your tests a week before the operation
Swelling from surgery fades after 3 weeks
Scars take shape within 3 weeks
No strenuous activity (lifting over 3 kg)
Do not raise arms above shoulder level for 3 weeks
Part of recovery after the correction is wearing compression garments for 1–1.5 months
Avoid intense gym workouts for up to 40 days and overly active aerobics; after a month light cardio is possible. Watch your diet and meals.
Within 3 months, discomfort disappears
Avoid baths and saunas for up to three months, and skip physiotherapy
During 3 months all tissue inflammation subsides and a “pocket” forms around the implant

FAQ
Mammoplasty is an umbrella for several procedures: augmentation (increasing volume with implants), reduction (taking away excess tissue and skin), mastopexy (lifting sagging breasts), reconstruction (after mastectomy) and asymmetry correction. Your wishes and the surgeon's advice determine the best individual method.
Message us — our coordinator will get back to you shortly and book your consultation. The plastic surgeon consultation is free.
As long as all recommendations are kept, complications are rare. Among the possible ones: hematoma or seroma, wound infection, reduced or increased nipple sensitivity, capsular contracture, aesthetic asymmetry, wound separation and tissue necrosis.
Results after mammoplasty last a long while: about 10–15 years for augmentation (until implant replacement) and 5–10 years for a lift or reduction. Weight changes, pregnancy, skin aging and gravity affect their duration. To maintain the result, choose supportive underwear and control your weight.
After mammoplasty, breastfeeding depends on the type of surgery. If augmentation uses an under-breast or armpit incision and the implant goes under the muscle, lactation is typically preserved because glandular tissue is not damaged. A lift or reduction has a higher risk since ducts may be cut. Discuss it with your surgeon before surgery.
The choice of implant looks at material (silicone looks most natural, while saline is used less often), shape (round or anatomical teardrop), surface (smooth or textured), size and profile. The surgeon will choose what works best for your anatomy and wishes.
General anaesthesia is used for the surgery itself, so there is no sensation. In the first 1–3 days you may feel moderate discomfort, which painkillers relieve. Pain subsides significantly by day 5–7 and discomfort is gone by weeks 2–3. If pain becomes severe, inform your doctor right away.
You can return to work (without physical exertion) after 7–14 days. Light walks after 1–2 weeks. Fitness and swimming after 4–6 weeks, strength training after 3 months. Pool and sea after 4–6 weeks. Wear compression garments for 4–6 weeks. Exact timing depends on your recovery.
There is no scientific proof linking mammoplasty to a higher breast cancer risk. Implants do not cause cancer. Continue regular screening after surgery, including self-exams, mammography and ultrasound, and always inform the examining doctor about your implants.
Mammoplasty is possible after a C-section once your body has completely recovered. Leave at least 6–12 months after childbirth and after breastfeeding has ended. Surgery requires a prior consultation and check-up by the surgeon.
Scars do remain after mammoplasty, but a skilled surgeon keeps them to a minimum. Incisions are placed in hidden zones: beneath the breast, around the areola or in the armpit. The scars are reddish for the first months and fade within 6–12 months to become almost invisible.
Mild asymmetry soon after surgery is normal during the first weeks and is caused by swelling and uneven healing. If shape or size remains different after 3–6 months, your surgeon should examine you to establish the cause.
Sensitivity in the nipples and breasts may shift temporarily after mammoplasty, decreasing or increasing, because the nerve endings are irritated. It returns within 3–12 months in most cases. If it has not improved after a year, go see your surgeon.
Hormonal drugs (contraceptives, hormone replacement therapy) do not affect implants directly, but may cause swelling or changes in breast tissue volume, temporarily affecting appearance. Be sure to tell your surgeon about such medications before surgery.

Breast augmentation is a mammoplasty in which implants add volume and correct the shape of the breasts. For patients from Lubango, the surgeon helps choose the implant material, shape, surface, size and profile to match individual anatomy. Silicone implants give the most natural look, and both round and anatomical teardrop shapes are available. The procedure suits women who want fuller breasts or a better contour.
Follow-up does not end at discharge. Throughout the year after mammoplasty, patients from Lubango can get free post-op consultations with the plastic surgeon, alongside dressings and planned check-ups. Slight asymmetry in the first weeks is normal and caused by swelling; if a difference persists after 3–6 months, the surgeon examines you to find the reason. Nipple sensitivity usually returns within 3–12 months.
The fixed price starts at $4,700 (≈ AOA 4,400,000), and everything essential is already in it: anaesthesia, the hospital stay and a year of follow-up by your plastic surgeon. A breast lift with implants is $5,400 (≈ AOA 5,100,000), implant removal $3,300 (≈ AOA 3,100,000). Lubango residents can book the first consultation free of charge and ask about in-house instalments.

I went to Dmitry Sergeyevich for breast augmentation with implants. At the consultation everything was explained in detail, and together we chose the best size. The operation under combined anaesthesia took 2 hours, and I was discharged home the next day. The swelling went down in about a month, and my breasts look very natural. The year of follow-up care is a real lifesaver: you can always ask a question and get an answer. Thank you to the clinic!

Lubango is the capital of Huíla Province and a municipality of 890,384 inhabitants in 2024. The city centre alone had 805,272 inhabitants that year, which makes it the second most populous city in Angola after Luanda. In a city of this size, women who think about breast augmentation usually plan it quietly. They talk to a sister, a close friend or a colleague, read about it for months, and only then ask for a consultation. This text is written for that stage, when you are still collecting information and want a clear picture of how the process fits into your life in Lubango.
City Medical Centre works with patients from Lubango through a free online consultation. A coordinator is available 24/7 on Telegram and WhatsApp, so you can write when it suits you: after work, after classes, or late in the evening when the house is quiet. You send your questions, your general health history and your wishes for the shape and size of the breast. A surgeon then reviews them with you. You do not need to arrange anything in the city to start the conversation.
Breast augmentation is surgery performed under general anaesthesia, so you feel nothing during the operation. The hospital stay is 1 day or 1–2 days, depending on how you recover. Before you decide anything, it helps to understand the whole path: consultation, examination, the operation, the first weeks of recovery and the check-ups that follow. The sections below go through this path with Lubango in mind.
Lubango stands at an altitude of 1,760 metres above sea level and has a subtropical highland climate. The days are hot and humid, and the nights are cool to cold. The annual average temperature is 18.6 °C, with extremes from 0 to 34.4 °C. For someone recovering after breast augmentation, this contrast between day and night is worth planning around. Your body is a little more sensitive in the first weeks, and a sudden change from a warm afternoon to a cold evening is easier to handle with layered clothing that does not squeeze or pull on the chest.
June and July are the cold months, and frost is possible, though rare. Many women find this a comfortable time for the operation, because a loose cardigan or jacket worn over the compression garment hides it completely and keeps you warm. After the correction, recovery involves 1–1.5 months of compression garments, and the garment stays on for 4–6 weeks according to the recovery plan. In cold weather it is not a burden. The advice is to choose a soft, front-opening top layer, so you never have to lift your arms above shoulder height, which is not allowed for 3 weeks.
September and October are the warmest months in Lubango. If your recovery falls in these weeks, think about heat and the sun. Direct sun on fresh scars is best avoided, and covered clothing in light fabric works better than anything tight. Early scars are reddish, and over 6–12 months they fade and become almost unnoticeable. Protecting them from strong highland sun during that period is simple, sensible care that you can discuss with your surgeon.
The heaviest rains in Lubango fall between December and March. During these months the streets can be wet and slippery, and getting around the city, including shared taxis and personal taxis marked PARTICULAR, can take longer. After the operation you should avoid heavy exertion, meaning lifting more than 3 kg. A bag of shopping, a child, or a heavy umbrella and rain gear can easily go over that limit, so in the rainy season you should plan help in advance, whether from your spouse, a relative or a neighbour.
The dry season brings cool mornings and drier air. Dust is a general concern for any healing wound. Keep the dressings and the treated area clean, follow your surgeon's instructions for care, and avoid crowded, dusty places in the first days. Walking is a good way to move around Lubango, and light walks are allowed after 1–2 weeks. Short, calm walks near home are better than long ones, and you should stop if you feel tired or your chest feels pulled.
If you live in one of the neighbouring areas of the wider urban region and use shared taxis, remember that sudden braking or climbing in and out with bags can strain the chest. Ask someone to carry your things for the first weeks. This is a small detail, but it makes recovery calmer.
Lubango has an active economy based on agriculture, food processing, leather tanning and consumer goods, as well as shops and services. It is also a university city. Mandume ya Ndemufayo University, the Higher Institute of Education Sciences of Huíla and the Gregório Semedo Polytechnical Institute all teach here, and there is a Portuguese school as well. Many of the women who ask about augmentation are therefore working in offices, shops and schools, or are students. Their main question is how long they will be away.
You may go back to work after 7–14 days, provided the work involves no physical exertion. If your job is at a desk, in administration or in teaching, this is realistic for many patients. If you stand all day, carry goods, or work with your arms raised, tell your surgeon during the consultation so the plan can be adjusted. Timing always depends on how your own recovery goes, and you should not compare yourself with a friend.
Students can plan the operation for a break between terms. Remember that swelling after surgery goes away after 3 weeks, and that discomfort fades after 3 months. Carrying a heavy bag of books is not allowed in the first weeks, so a light bag or help from a classmate is a good idea. Tell your lecturers only as much as you wish. Your health information remains your own.
Sport is part of life in Lubango. Football is the most popular sport, with the Tundavala National Stadium among the most modern in Africa, and judo tournaments, volleyball, basketball, athletics, cycling and boxing all have followers. The hills around the city also attract people to hiking, climbing and rappelling. If you are active, you will want to know exactly when you can return, and the answer is clear and gradual.
In the first weeks there is no heavy exertion. For as long as 40 days you stay away from intense gym workouts and overly active aerobics. Light cardio is possible after a month, and you should keep an eye on your diet and meals. Fitness and swimming are allowed after 4–6 weeks, strength training only after 3 months, and the pool and sea after 4–6 weeks. Climbing, rappelling and any sport that raises the arms or loads the chest should wait until your surgeon confirms it is safe.
If you only watch football with your family or colleagues, you can go to a match once you feel comfortable, but crowds mean pushing and bumping. Choose a seat where you are not squeezed, wear your supportive garment, and leave early if you feel unwell. A quiet return is the sensible choice, and it protects the result you have planned for months.
Lubango and the fertile region around it produce meat, cereals, fruit and vegetables, and the city's food culture is built on these. Family meals, weddings, church gatherings and birthdays are important, and many women ask whether they should postpone the operation because of an upcoming event. A practical approach is to count back from the date of the event. You want to be free of heavy tasks, and have enough time for swelling to settle, since it goes away after 3 weeks, and for the compression garment, which stays on for 4–6 weeks.
On the food side, the medical advice is to monitor your diet and meals during recovery. Eat regular, balanced portions with enough protein, vegetables and fruit, and drink enough water. Heavy, salty meals can make you feel swollen and uncomfortable. If you are the person who usually cooks for the family, ask someone to take over the heaviest tasks, such as lifting large pots, for the first weeks.
Weight matters for the long-term result. Weight changes affect how long it lasts, and the overall health guidance of the World Health Organization on overweight and obesity is a useful reminder to keep your weight stable. After augmentation, supportive underwear and weight control help to maintain the result, which lasts about 10–15 years for augmentation, until the implant is replaced. Pregnancy, skin ageing and gravity also have an effect.
Breast augmentation is considered for adult women who are in good general health, who have realistic expectations and who are making the decision for themselves, not under pressure from relatives or friends. Contraindications are decided individually by the surgeon after the consultation and check-up, and they include acute illness and conditions that make general anaesthesia unsafe. If you plan a pregnancy soon, say so openly. Mammoplasty after a C-section is possible only once your body has fully recovered, and you should allow at least 6–12 months after giving birth and after breastfeeding stops.
Prepare your questions in advance and write them down, so that the online consultation from Lubango is not rushed. Useful ones: which incision location suits me, whether under the breast, around the areola or in the armpit; how the implant is placed; what size fits my frame; what the scars will look like; what happens if the shape differs from side to side; and who will see me after the operation.
Ask also about the recovery programme. After surgery you get one, with check-ups at 7 days, 3 and 6 months that help track your recovery. For a year after surgery, consultations with your surgeon are free, and follow-up support lasts for 12 months. Monitoring by medical staff runs 24/7, and a coordinator will call you back 24/7. Knowing this in advance lets you plan for the months after the operation as well as the day itself.
Planning breast augmentation in Lubango is partly a question of the calendar. Most households in a city of this size have a steady rhythm of weekend visits, family celebrations, school events and community gatherings. Before you fix a date for the operation, write down the next two or three months and mark the events you do not want to miss. Then count back, leaving room for the stage when swelling is still present and the compression garment is worn.
Swelling after surgery goes away after 3 weeks, and compression garments stay on for 4–6 weeks. For this reason many women choose a quiet window with no wedding or large celebration in the first month. Loose, soft dresses and tops with front fastening are comfortable during this time and do not press on the chest. If a family occasion cannot be moved, tell the coordinator during the online consultation so that the plan can take it into account.
It is also worth deciding in advance who will know. Some women in Lubango tell their spouse and one close relative, and nobody else. Others prefer to share with a sister or a friend who can come to the house during the first days. Whichever you choose, one reliable person at home is valuable, because lifting more than 3 kg is not allowed and arms should not go above shoulder height for 3 weeks.
Lubango lies at 1,760 metres above sea level, and the nights are cool to cold. After the operation, sleep is one of the things women ask about most. In the first days it is usually more comfortable to rest with the upper body slightly raised, supported by several pillows, and to avoid turning onto the chest. Your surgeon will give exact instructions for your case, and you should follow them rather than general advice from friends.
Cold evenings invite heavy blankets, and a heavy blanket pressing on the chest can be unpleasant while the tissue is healing. Light layers are better: a thin cover, a warm blanket across the legs and a soft front-opening top. Keep the compression garment on as advised and do not adjust it yourself in the night if it feels tight; write to the coordinator, who is available 24/7.
In the first 1–3 days you may feel moderate discomfort, which painkillers relieve. Pain subsides significantly by day 5–7 and discomfort is gone by weeks 2–3. In Lubango, where the temperature can drop sharply after sunset, cold can make you feel stiff and tense in the shoulders, so keep the room comfortably warm. If pain becomes severe, inform your doctor right away.
Many patients think only about the first two weeks, but healing continues for months. In 3 months any inflammatory changes in the tissue disappear, and a pocket forms around the implant. Discomfort fades after 3 months. This is the reason why the check-ups at 7 days, 3 and 6 months matter: they let the surgeon see how the breast settles and answer your questions while there is still time to deal with any concern.
For a woman living in Lubango, the practical meaning is simple: do not judge the result in the first weeks. The shape changes as swelling goes down, and slight asymmetry at this stage is normal because of swelling and uneven healing. If shape or size still differ after 3–6 months, see your surgeon for a check-up to find the reason.
Keep a short diary on your phone with the date, how you feel and any questions. When you speak with the surgeon online, this saves time and helps you remember details. Sensitivity of the breast and nipple may also change for a time, and in the majority of cases it is restored within 3–12 months; if nothing has improved after a year, consult your surgeon.
You start by writing to a coordinator on Telegram or WhatsApp. The service is free and open around the clock, so a message sent at night is not a problem. Tell the coordinator your age, general health, any previous operations, medicines you take, and what you want to change. Photographs and a short description help the surgeon form a first opinion, and the conversation is private.
The surgeon then talks with you online, explains whether the operation suits you, outlines the stages and answers your questions. Your time matters to us: we work 24/7, booking is easy, and our personal approach adapts to your pace. You are not forced to decide quickly. Many women in Lubango take several weeks, talk to family and return with new questions, and that is entirely normal.
After the operation you receive a recovery programme. Pain and sensation are explained honestly. In the first 1–3 days you may feel moderate discomfort, which painkillers relieve. Pain subsides significantly by day 5–7 and discomfort is gone by weeks 2–3. If pain becomes severe, inform your doctor right away, without waiting for the next check-up.
Yes. The online consultation is free, and coordinators answer on Telegram and WhatsApp around the clock. You can write from home in Lubango at any time, ask your questions and send your health details, and the surgeon will review them with you.
General anaesthesia is used for the surgery itself, so there is no sensation. In the first 1–3 days you may feel moderate discomfort, which painkillers relieve. Pain subsides significantly by day 5–7, and discomfort is gone by weeks 2–3. If pain becomes severe, inform your doctor right away.
You may go back to work, with no physical exertion, after 7–14 days. Light walks are possible after 1–2 weeks. If your job in Lubango involves lifting or long periods on your feet, discuss this with your surgeon beforehand, because timing depends on your own recovery.
There is no single answer. In the cold months of June and July, a jacket easily hides the compression garment. In the warm months of September and October you need protection from the sun and light clothing. In the rainy season from December to March, plan help for carrying things, since lifting more than 3 kg is not allowed.
Compression garments stay on for 4–6 weeks, and after the correction recovery involves 1–1.5 months of compression garments. Your surgeon will tell you exactly when to change or remove the garment, according to how you heal.
Intense gym workouts and overly active aerobics are off limits for as long as 40 days, and light cardio is possible after a month. Fitness and swimming are allowed after 4–6 weeks, the pool and sea after 4–6 weeks, and strength training after 3 months. Do not lift your arms above shoulder height for 3 weeks.
There are scars, though a skilled surgeon keeps them minimal. Incisions go in discreet areas, such as under the breast, around the areola or in the armpit. Early on they are reddish, but over 6–12 months they fade and are almost unnoticeable. Slight asymmetry in the first weeks is normal. If shape or size still differ after 3–6 months, see your surgeon for a check-up.
Breast and nipple sensitivity may change for a time, going down or up, because of irritation of nerve endings. In the majority of cases it is restored within 3–12 months. If nothing has improved after a year, consult your surgeon.
Results after mammoplasty last a long while: about 10–15 years for augmentation, until implant replacement. Weight changes, pregnancy, skin ageing and gravity affect their duration. To maintain the result, choose supportive underwear and control your weight.
You receive a recovery programme, with check-ups at 7 days, 3 and 6 months. Consultations with your surgeon are free for a year after surgery, follow-up support lasts for 12 months, and a coordinator will call you back 24/7.
Not at first. Heavy exertion, meaning lifting more than 3 kg, is not allowed, and arms should not go above shoulder height for 3 weeks. Ask your spouse, a relative or a neighbour to carry bags and do the heavy shopping during the first weeks, and increase your activity only as your surgeon allows.
Your surgeon gives exact instructions, but in general it is more comfortable to rest with the upper body slightly raised and to avoid pressure on the chest. Use light layers against the cold night air instead of a heavy blanket, and keep the compression garment on as advised.
Swelling goes away after 3 weeks, and in 3 months inflammatory changes in the tissue disappear and a pocket forms around the implant. Slight asymmetry in the first weeks is normal. If shape or size still differ after 3–6 months, see your surgeon for a check-up.
