The process
A correction plan agreed with you, inpatient observation, and a full year of recovery follow-up.

The doctor reviews your nose, talks about your wishes, and conducts the examinations required to pick the best correction technique

Your surgery date is reserved once the deposit is paid — by card at the clinic or online by bank transfer — and the terms are confirmed in the contract for medical services

Before surgery you need a full set of lab tests: complete blood count, biochemistry, coagulation panel, chest X-ray and an X-ray of the sinuses

Under general or local anaesthesia, the surgeon performs the rhinoplasty with the chosen technique, correcting the structure and shape of the nose

All procedures are performed in the clinic's inpatient unit. After surgery you stay there for one day

Once surgery is done, you follow a recovery programme, with check-ups at 7 days, 3 and 6 months to track progress. Consultations with your surgeon stay free for a year after surgery.
At the consultation you will see a realistic forecast of the result

The consultation costs nothing, takes place before surgery and carries no commitment.

FAQ
Rhinoplasty (nose job) — among the most delicate and widely requested plastic surgeries, designed to reshape the nose to match the individual proportions of the nose and the whole face. Modern rhinoplasty goes beyond changing how the nose looks — it is complex surgical work aimed at an aesthetic result without putting health at risk.

18 to 45 is the optimal age. By this age the nose has formed completely, while tissues still heal well. With medical indications, older patients can have surgery if their general health allows
At its core, rhinoplasty is a comprehensive solution. It corrects both congenital and acquired nasal deformities, for example after a nasal injury. Patients are often bothered by a dorsal hump or an overly wide nose. Nose correction can also target the tip (tip rhinoplasty) or the nostrils (alar rhinoplasty). The surgical plan is created individually for each patient, taking every feature of their nose into account.
Rhinoplasty is performed under general anaesthesia and, depending on complexity, takes 1.5 to 3 hours.
The surgeon determines the extent and course of the surgery at the consultation, based on your goals and the anatomy of your nose.
Rhinoplasty — surgery to change the appearance of the nose (an aesthetic goal) and improve its function if breathing is impaired.
Septoplasty — surgical correction of the nasal septum to restore normal breathing, without changing the outer contour of the nose.
Often both surgeries are combined, especially when a patient has a deviated septum and aesthetic concerns. This gives a harmonious look and restores full breathing. At City Medical Centre we perform rhinoseptoplasty — a combined surgery that solves both tasks at once
For a successful operation, preparation should begin 21 days before rhinoplasty. At the first appointment our plastic surgeon will give you a list of the required tests.
| Complete blood count (including ESR, white cell differential, platelets) | 2 weeks |
| Urinalysis | 2 weeks |
| Infection tests: HIV, HBsAg, anti-HCV, antibodies to Treponema pallidum | 2 weeks |
| Blood group and Rh factor | 2 weeks |
| Blood biochemistry (total protein; urea; uric acid; creatinine; glucose; total, unconjugated and conjugated bilirubin; ALT; AST; K; Na; Cl; cholesterol) | 2 weeks |
| Coagulation panel (Quick prothrombin, INR, APTT, D-dimer, antithrombin III) | 2 weeks |
| Electrocardiogram (ECG) tracing with a report | 2 weeks |
| Doppler ultrasound of the leg vessels / duplex scan of the leg veins | 2 weeks |
| Chest X-ray or fluorography with a report | 6 months |
| MSCT of the paranasal sinuses | 6 months |
| After the full laboratory work-up — a physician's report confirming there are no contraindications to surgery | 2 weeks |
Preparation includes consultations with the plastic surgeon, lab tests (CBC, biochemistry, coagulation, infection tests), ECG, chest X-ray, and an X-ray or CT of the nose. A week before surgery stop anticoagulants, alcohol and smoking. The day before — light meals; fast 6 hours before surgery
Although nose surgery is one of the most popular and well-established aesthetic operations, like any surgery it carries certain risks. To minimise the likelihood of complications after rhinoplasty, our clinic provides thorough pre-operative preparation and post-operative monitoring.
Important: if after rhinoplasty you have difficulty breathing, severe pain, a high temperature or a change in the shape of your nose, contact your doctor immediately.
Rhinoplasty at City Medical Centre is performed with modern technology, safe materials and constant medical supervision, which keeps the risk of complications to a minimum.
We also provide post-operative monitoring and prescribe recovery therapy.
Recovery after nose surgery is just as important as the operation itself. Proper recovery determines how aesthetic and harmonious the final result will be. At City Medical Centre recovery is closely monitored and divided into three phases: early, intermediate and late
The first improvements appear as swelling goes down (2–3 weeks), but the final rhinoplasty result can be assessed in 1–1.5 years, once tissues fully stabilise
The nose needs to be protected after surgery. An aluminium cast is placed over the nose, with special silicone splints inside the nasal cavity. Nasal function is limited in the first days but recovers quickly. The final result of rhinoplasty can be assessed after 1–1.5 years, once the swelling has fully subsided.
Important: if nasal function is impaired after the first operation or you are not satisfied with the result, revision (secondary) rhinoplasty may be needed. It is a more complex procedure, performed no earlier than one year after the primary operation.
For the first few days after surgery, splints or swelling may partly close the nasal passages. Full breathing generally comes back within 1–2 weeks, depending on how extensive the surgery was and your body
Our doctors use microsurgical techniques and quality sutures to keep scars minimal
Rhinoplasty makes facial features more harmonious and improves aesthetics without losing individuality. With 3D modelling you can see the predicted result in advance and agree on the changes with your surgeon
Rhinoplasty is a serious step. A well-performed rhinoplasty means the new nose is in perfect harmony with your facial features and works flawlessly. At the consultation the nasal surgeon assesses every parameter in detail: the size of the nose, tip projection, and the condition of the septum and nasal mucosa. We use 3D modelling so you can see the future proportions of your nose before the surgery is performed.
Don't just browse rhinoplasty photos online. Book a consultation to discuss what modern rhinoplasty can and cannot do for you. Correcting external nasal deformities and reshaping the nose is our speciality.

Rhinoplasty, or nose job, reshapes the nose to fit the individual proportions of the face. It corrects congenital and acquired deformities, including changes after a nasal injury. Patients from Jinja most often ask about removing a dorsal hump, narrowing an overly wide nose, refining the tip or correcting the nostrils. Every surgery plan is created individually, taking into account all features of the nose.
First visible results appear after about two weeks, and full healing takes around four months on average. The nose settles into its final shape over 1–1.5 years, so seeing your surgeon during this period matters. Until the end of the year, Jinja patients can have a free post-op consultation where the doctor evaluates the outcome, monitors recovery and answers questions.
How much is a nose job in Jinja? The base price is $4,200 (≈ UGX 16,500,000) for the full package — from the operation itself to follow-up visits and dressings. The final amount depends on the extent of surgery and is set once the surgeon has examined your nose and facial proportions. Leave your name and phone number, and a coordinator will book your free consultation.

For a long time I was self-conscious about the length of my nose, until a friend who had had rhinoplasty recommended this clinic. At the very first consultation they set the date of surgery and explained every stage in detail. The rhinoplasty under general anaesthesia was performed by Mareta Meirieva: the swelling went down quickly, and after just a week my nose looked natural and neat. Modern equipment, attentive staff and appointments without delays made the whole process comfortable. I recommend the clinic to anyone who values professionalism and a quality result.

This was my first visit to the clinic, for rhinoseptoplasty, and to be honest I was very nervous. At the consultation they explained every stage of the operation and recovery in detail, which calmed me down straight away. The operation was performed by Mareta Meirieva: the swelling started to go down on the third day, and the result is visible to the naked eye. Everything inside is sterile and pleasant, the atmosphere inspires trust, and the staff are always responsive. I thank the clinic for the high level of service and the warm approach!

Everything was first-class: clean, cosy and calm. Booking and choosing the right date was easy. The nose operation went smoothly and the nerve block was done perfectly: now I breathe freely without nasal drops! It is a real lifesaver for anyone tired of endless prescriptions and ineffective procedures. I recommend it to everyone who values professionalism and results.
Rhinoplasty
Viktoria Petrova
I recently had rhinoplasty and I am absolutely delighted. At the consultation they told me about every stage in detail, so I went into surgery fully prepared. The operation went smoothly: they straightened the bridge of my nose and made the nostrils symmetrical, and the shape came out very neat. The swelling lasted a little longer than I expected, but they explained straight away that full recovery takes more time. No unpleasant surprises, everything was within the normal range. I recommend the clinic to anyone looking for a confident result and an attentive attitude.

Jinja is a city in the Eastern Region of Uganda, on the north shore of Lake Victoria near the source of the Nile River. It is a working city with factories, markets, a port and a busy centre, and many residents plan their personal affairs around work and family. In 2014 the national population census put the population at 72,931, although the Municipality Authority contested that count and said it under-counted Jinja's population. Whichever figure you use, it is a place where people know each other, and a decision about your face is often discussed with relatives and colleagues.
People in Jinja usually come to the idea of rhinoplasty for one of two reasons. Some want a nose that looks more harmonious with the rest of the face. Others have breathing difficulties and want to know whether the shape of the nose and the airway can be improved in one operation. Both questions are fair, and both are best answered by a surgeon who examines you and builds a plan, not by comparing photographs.
City Medical Centre works with patients in Jinja through a free online consultation. Coordinators are available 24/7 on WhatsApp and Telegram, so you can write when it suits your shift, your lessons or your family evening, and a coordinator will call you back 24/7. You do not need to arrange anything in advance to ask the first questions.
The first step is a conversation with a coordinator on WhatsApp or Telegram. You describe what bothers you about the shape or the breathing, send clear photographs if asked, and list any illnesses, allergies and medicines you take. The consultation is free, and you can do it from home in Jinja, from your workplace break or from a quiet corner of the house.
The surgeon then examines your case and explains what is realistic. At the consultation, the doctor will build a 3D model of the expected result and explain it. With 3D modelling the predicted result is visible in advance, and you agree on changes with your surgeon. This matters in a city where many people decide together with family: you can show the model to your husband, wife or parents and discuss it calmly before any decision.
The approach is personal and adapts to your pace. Booking is straightforward, the team is reachable 24/7, and you are not pushed to decide on the first call. If you need a few days to think, speak with relatives or check your work calendar, that is normal and expected.
Jinja has the second largest economy in Uganda. Factories first chose the city because of the nearby electric power station at the Owen Falls Dam, and the main economic activity takes place in the central business district. Kakira Sugar Works is the biggest local employer, with over 7,500 people, and there are also steel, palm oil and brewing businesses. Many patients therefore have fixed shifts, supervisors to inform and teams that depend on them.
When you plan rhinoplasty, start with the calendar. For a successful operation, preparation should begin 21 days before rhinoplasty. At the first appointment our plastic surgeon will give you a list of the required tests. Think about when your workload is lightest, when a colleague can cover for you, and when your household can manage without you for a short period.
Surgery takes 1.5 to 3 hours depending on complexity, and you stay one day in the clinic. Rhinoplasty is done in 1 day, but the recovery programme goes on for longer: the splints come out on day 7, and the cast is worn for up to 14 days. Share these dates with your employer or school early, so that nobody is surprised by your absence.
Jinja lies on Lake Victoria, and life near the water often means time outdoors: walks by the shore, markets, sport and family gatherings. After rhinoplasty the nose needs protection. An aluminium cast is placed over the nose, with special silicone splints inside the nasal cavity. In practice this means you should avoid crowded places where someone might knock your face, and keep the cast dry and untouched.
Whatever the season, think about sun and heat. Strong sun on healing skin can make swelling look worse and may leave the area more sensitive, so a wide-brimmed hat that does not press on the nose, shade and a calm schedule are sensible. Dust from busy roads and building work can irritate a nose that is already congested, so keep your room clean and ventilated and ask your surgeon how to clean the nasal area.
Lake and pool water should wait until your surgeon allows it. Do not put anything on the nose that rests on the bridge, and avoid heavy glasses until you are told they are safe. Choose the time of the operation so that the first days at home fall on a quiet period, not on a major event, a long outdoor assignment or a busy harvest of work obligations.
Getting ready involves consultations with the plastic surgeon, lab work (CBC, biochemistry, coagulation, infection tests), ECG, chest X-ray, plus a nasal X-ray or CT. In Jinja you can discuss with your coordinator how to organise these tests locally and how to send the results for the surgeon to review. Do not repeat tests without asking, and keep every printed result.
A week ahead, give up anticoagulants, alcohol and smoking. This includes any medicine you take for pain or colds that thins the blood, so tell the surgeon about everything in your cupboard, including herbal products. Many social occasions in Jinja involve a drink or a shared meal, so tell friends and family in advance that you will be avoiding alcohol.
The day before, eat light food; no food 6 hours before surgery. On the day of surgery, your last food and any fluids must be taken at least 6 hours before the scheduled time of the operation. For your hospital stay, buy compression stockings (class 2 compression) in advance and bring them with you. Ask your coordinator if you are unsure where to find the right type, and check the size before the day arrives.
Rhinoplasty is performed under general anaesthesia and, depending on complexity, takes 1.5 to 3 hours. For 24 hours following rhinoplasty, the patient remains under observation in the inpatient unit. This gives the team time to watch your breathing, comfort and condition before you move on to home recovery.
Days 1–3: breathing is through the mouth, with splints in the nostrils. Nasal function is limited in the first days but recovers quickly. Expect dry lips and a dry mouth, so keep water within reach, and plan soft, easy food. Jinja has a rich food culture with fresh produce from the market, but during these days choose simple meals that need little chewing and no strong spices.
Day 7: the splints are removed. The aluminium nasal cast is worn for up to 14 days; stitches are removed on day 14 together with the cast. In the days right after surgery, splints or swelling may partly block the nasal passages. You usually breathe fully again within 1–2 weeks, depending on your body and how extensive the surgery was. Keep your coordinator's number at hand through all of this.
Recovery after rhinoplasty goes in stages: the first 7, 14 and 30 days each have their own tasks. First improvements show once swelling subsides (2–3 weeks), and for 1–1.5 months after nose surgery you may feel slight congestion. This is the stage when many patients in Jinja go back to desk work, shops or lessons, so ask your surgeon what is suitable for your own job, especially if it involves dust, heat or physical effort.
Sport needs particular care. Jinja has two major football teams, Bul FC and Gaddafi FC, both playing in the Ugandan Super League, and many residents play or watch football with friends. Contact sport and any ball games where the face could be hit must wait until your surgeon says the nose is ready. Ask for a clear plan for running, gym and team games.
Psychological readiness matters. The patient should understand that the final result will be visible in 1–1.5 years. The nose takes its final shape after 1–1.5 years, when tissues fully stabilise. Do not judge the result at the time the cast comes off; swelling hides the final line, and patience is part of the process.
The name Jinja comes from the word ejjinja, meaning the stones. Both the Baganda on the western bank of the Nile and the Busoga on the eastern bank used it for the flat rocks at the river. When the Owen Falls Dam was built in 1954, the Ripon Falls and most of those rocks disappeared under the water. Many residents grew up hearing this story, and it is a good image for rhinoplasty planning: what you see on the surface today is not always the whole structure underneath. The surgeon studies the bones and cartilage of your nose, builds a 3D model and explains what can change and what cannot.
The city was founded in 1901 and was planned in 1948 by the German architect Ernst May, who thought in terms of neighbourhood units. A nose can be seen in a similar way. A good plan looks at each part, the bridge, the tip and the airway, and then asks how they work together. When you speak to the surgeon, ask how each part of the plan fits the whole face, instead of asking for a single copied shape from a photograph.
John Hanning Speke described the place as a scene that drew the eye for hours, with small grassy hills and trees in the valleys. Patients sometimes spend hours looking at their own photographs in the same way, and the picture can become distorted. Send the coordinator clear, plain photographs and let the surgeon judge proportion with 3D modelling, so that the decision rests on the examination.
Jinja is divided into Jinja North Division and Jinja South Division. The south includes Central Jinja East and West, Nalufenya, Walukuba, Masese, Mpumudde, Kimaka and Old Boma. The north includes Mafubira, Wanyange, Buwagi and Katende. Since the city status of 1 July 2020, the city also includes Bugembe Town Council and the Mafubira and Budondo sub-counties. This means that patients live in quite different settings, from the central business district to quieter outer wards.
Where you live matters for recovery. Days 1–3 are spent breathing through the mouth with splints in the nostrils, and the splints come out on day 7. If you live in a busy central ward, ask a relative to stay with you and to answer the door and the phone, so that you can rest. If you live in an outer ward such as Budondo or Mafubira, check in advance that someone can help with errands, so that you do not need to go out into crowds during the first week.
After the 24 hours of observation in the inpatient unit, you go back to your own home. Tell the household that the aluminium cast stays on for up to 14 days and that children, pets and crowded rooms need to be kept away from your face. Keep the coordinator's number where everyone can see it, since the team is reachable 24/7 on WhatsApp and Telegram.
Kakira Sugar Works employs over 7,500 people, and Nile Breweries in Njeru, MM Integrated Steel, the Bidco palm oil refinery and the planned Kiira Motors facility add to the list of employers. Shift workers should tell a supervisor early about the dates: surgery takes 1.5 to 3 hours, you stay in the clinic for one day, the splints come out on day 7 and the cast and stitches come off on day 14. Work in a hot factory hall, near boilers or in dust can irritate a congested nose, so ask your surgeon what duties are suitable and when.
Jinja also has a large student community: the Eastern Campus of Makerere University, the Jinja campus of Makerere University Business School, the campuses of Busoga University and Kampala University, Nsaka University and the National Forensic Sciences University. Secondary schools such as Busoga College, Jinja College, Wanyange Girls and Kiira College Butiki shape family calendars too. Students should plan surgery away from examinations and practical sessions, and a parent who considers the operation for a young person should remember that 18 to 45 is the optimal age.
Staff and officers connected with the Uganda Senior Command and Staff College and the Uganda Junior Staff College in the Kimaka area, and others in uniformed service, may have strict duty schedules. If this describes you, ask your coordinator to help you work out a realistic window, and ask the surgeon what physical duties must wait and for how long.
The new fresh produce market, completed in the fourth quarter of 2014, can accommodate up to 4,500 vendors. It is a place of crowds, elbows and bags, so it is not where you should be in the first weeks. Ask a relative to shop for you, and stock soft, simple food before the day of surgery. The day before the operation, eat light food, and take no food 6 hours before surgery.
Cooking in Jinja often relies on the sugar and the oil produced locally and on fresh market produce. During days 1–3, when you breathe through the mouth, choose soft meals that need little chewing and avoid very hot drinks and heavily spiced dishes. Alcohol must be stopped a week before surgery, which matters because Nile Special is part of many gatherings in the city. Tell your friends in advance that you will skip the drinks, and do not let a celebration decide your date.
Jinja's attractions, white-water rafting, bungee jumping and the source of the Nile, are exactly the activities that put the face at risk of knocks and strong water. Leave them for later and ask your surgeon for a clear date. Visitors to Discovery Beach and the Nyege Nyege Festival in Njeru should plan around the crowds and the loud, jostling dance floors: with the cast on for up to 14 days and swelling that takes 2–3 weeks to subside, a festival is a poor setting for a healing nose.
Jinja has Catholic, Anglican, Presbyterian, Baptist and Assemblies of God congregations, and mosques as well. Many families make major decisions after conversation with relatives and sometimes with a pastor, priest or imam. If that is your way, use the coordinator's online consultation to gather the facts first: the 3D model, the length of the operation, the recovery stages. Then you can talk to your family with clear information instead of rumours.
Lusoga is the main local language, and many residents move between Lusoga, Luganda and English. If any part of the medical explanation is not clear to you, say so and ask for it to be repeated, and ask a relative to join the call. Understanding the instructions on splints, the cast and medicines is part of a safe recovery.
Remember that the final result will be visible in 1–1.5 years. Neighbours and colleagues may comment on swelling in the first weeks, so decide in advance how you will answer, or choose to say little. Check-ups at 7 days, 3 and 6 months and free consultations with your surgeon for a year after surgery mean that you have someone to ask other than the crowd around you.
18 to 45 is the optimal age. By this age the nose has formed completely, while tissues still heal well. With medical indications, older patients can have surgery if their general health allows. Rhinoplasty improves aesthetics and makes facial features more harmonious, without loss of individuality. It is not suitable if the expectations are unrealistic, if general health does not allow general anaesthesia, or if the person is not ready to follow the recovery rules.
Prepare your questions before the call. Ask what the 3D model shows and what it cannot show, how the breathing will be handled, what the surgeon expects from your nasal structure, and what could limit the result. Ask which tests you need, which medicines to stop, and how the cast and splints will be managed at home in Jinja.
After surgery, you follow a recovery programme with check-ups at 7 days, 3 and 6 months to track progress. Consultations with your surgeon stay free for a year after surgery, and follow-up support lasts 12 months. Ask how photographs or messages will be used for these check-ups, so that you can take part from your own city with no difficulty.
Yes. The consultation is free and online. Write to a coordinator on WhatsApp or Telegram, send the information requested, and the surgeon will examine your case. A coordinator will call you back 24/7, so you can choose a time that fits your work or family day.
At the consultation, the doctor will build a 3D model of the expected result and explain it. You see the predicted shape in advance and agree on changes with your surgeon. It is a planning tool and helps you discuss the result with family before deciding.
Rhinoplasty is performed under general anaesthesia and, depending on complexity, takes 1.5 to 3 hours. For 24 hours following surgery you remain under observation in the inpatient unit. Rhinoplasty is done in 1 day.
Preparation should begin 21 days before rhinoplasty. At the first appointment the plastic surgeon gives you the list of tests. A week ahead, give up anticoagulants, alcohol and smoking, and the day before, eat light food and nothing for 6 hours before surgery.
Days 1–3: breathing is through the mouth, with splints in the nostrils. Swelling may partly block the nasal passages, but you usually breathe fully again within 1–2 weeks, depending on your body and how extensive the surgery was.
The splints are removed on day 7. The aluminium nasal cast is worn for up to 14 days, and stitches are removed on day 14 together with the cast. Protect the nose from knocks and keep it dry until then.
First improvements show once swelling subsides (2–3 weeks), but the final result can be judged in 1–1.5 years, when tissues fully stabilise. You may feel slight congestion for 1–1.5 months after surgery.
18 to 45 is the optimal age, because the nose has formed completely and tissues still heal well. With medical indications, older patients can have surgery if their general health allows. The surgeon decides after examination and tests.
You follow a recovery programme with check-ups at 7 days, 3 and 6 months. Consultations with your surgeon stay free for a year after surgery, and follow-up support lasts 12 months, with coordinators reachable 24/7.
Yes. Events such as the Nyege Nyege Festival bring crowds to the Njeru area, and crowds raise the chance of a knock to the nose. The cast stays for up to 14 days and swelling takes 2–3 weeks to subside, so choose a quiet period at home.
Ask when you can return to your duties, especially if your work involves heat, dust or lifting. Give your supervisor the dates: one day in the clinic, splints out on day 7, cast and stitches off on day 14. Your surgeon can advise on your own job.
Choose a period without examinations or practical sessions. 18 to 45 is the optimal age. Plan the 21 days of preparation, one day in the clinic, and about two weeks with the cast, and tell your department in advance.
Not at first. Crowded markets and ball games risk a blow to the face, so ask a relative to shop for you and wait until your surgeon allows sport. The nose takes its final shape after 1–1.5 years.
