What is liposuction
and who is it for?

As a surgical method, liposuction removes surplus fat beneath the skin in problem areas. Don't treat it as weight loss or as a substitute for diet and exercise: its purpose is targeted contouring, removing saddlebags on the thighs, a drooping belly and fat on the back, flanks, arms or chin.

It is suited to people whose specific zones retain fat in spite of normal weight and regular activity. What matters most: the fat cells removed do not grow back in treated areas, so a stable lifestyle keeps the result for years.

Liposuction techniques at City Medical Centre

Tumescent (classic) liposuction

Step one is injecting a special solution — saline with lidocaine, adrenaline and several other agents — into the treatment area. It loosens the fat and tightens the vessels, keeping blood loss minimal and removal gentle. Then the fat emulsion is removed through a thin cannula using vacuum.

After surgery there is almost no swelling or bruising, and recovery is much easier than after a conventional procedure.

VASER liposuction (ultrasound)

Ultrasound is used to break down fat cells ahead of vacuum removal. The method is ideal when you want clear muscle relief — athletic abs — and body contouring.

It also suits delicate areas.

How the surgery goes: from consultation to result

Surgeon consultation

The doctor discusses your wishes, carries out an examination, assesses fat deposits and rules out any contraindications. A hormonal screening is also ordered at City Medical Centre to help predict the long-term result.

Pre-operative tests

Blood tests (complete count, coagulation panel, biochemistry, infections — HIV, hepatitis, syphilis), ECG, chest X-ray and, if needed, a GP consultation.

All tests can be done at the clinic with no waiting.

Preparation

Medicines that affect blood clotting — stop them 2 weeks before. Alcohol and smoking — stop a week before so you heal faster. The last meal — 8 hours before.

Surgery day

You see the surgeon, who marks the areas, and the compression garments are fitted. Anesthesia can be local or general depending on the scope.
Lasts from 1 hour (small areas) to 3–4 hours (a combined procedure).

Waking up and monitoring

After general anesthesia — one day under observation in hospital. After local anesthesia — home 3–4 hours after surgery.

Recovery

Compression garments stay on for 30–45 days. Once swelling subsides, first results are visible in 3–4 weeks. At 3 months, with the skin fully tightened, the final result is assessed.

Recovery after liposuction

Recovery is much shorter after tumescent liposuction than after a conventional procedure, and most patients resume work within 3–7 days. The first week may bring mild swelling and a raised temperature — a normal response to surgery. Wearing compression garments for 30–45 days fixes the new contours and speeds up tissue recovery. For one month, the bathhouse, sauna, pool and intense sport are off-limits. For the best result and faster healing, we recommend lymphatic drainage massage, pressotherapy and a gradual return to activity. You'll see first changes in 3–4 weeks and the final result at 3 months.

Liposuction: frequently asked questions

About liposuction for patients from Tiruchirappalli

Liposuction is not only a women's procedure. The abdomen and flanks are the top request for both sexes, and in men the chest is a separate case: the fat component of gynecomastia or pseudogynecomastia can be removed surgically. VASER, with ultrasound breakdown of fat, helps define pronounced muscle relief. Men in Tiruchirappalli can discuss which technique suits their goals at the consultation.

It starts with a surgeon consultation: the doctor listens to your wishes, assesses the fat deposits and rules out contraindications, and a hormonal screening is ordered to predict the long-term result. Patients from Tiruchirappalli then take pre-operative tests — blood count, coagulation panel, biochemistry, infection screening, ECG and chest X-ray — which can all be done at the clinic with no waiting.

A free consultation is the easiest way to get an exact figure. The surgeon assesses the fat deposits, skin tone and your health, suggests the technique and the scope of surgery, and gives the price; liposuction starts from $1,200. Apply before the end of the year and the consultation is at the clinic's expense. Patients from Tiruchirappalli can apply via the form or any messenger.
