What is liposuction
and who is it for?

Liposuction is an operation to remove excess subcutaneous fat from problem zones, not a way to slim down or to skip diet and exercise. It is aimed at targeted contouring — removing saddlebags on the thighs, a sagging tummy and fat deposits on the back, flanks, arms or chin.

Liposuction suits people whose specific areas hold on to fat despite a normal weight and an active lifestyle. The key point: fat cells removed from treated areas do not grow back, so with a steady lifestyle the result lasts for a long time.

Liposuction techniques at City Medical Centre

Tumescent (classic) liposuction

A special solution based on saline, with lidocaine, adrenaline and some other agents, is injected into the area first. It softens the fat tissue and constricts vessels, minimising blood loss and making removal gentle. After that, a thin cannula removes the fat emulsion by vacuum.

Post-op swelling and bruising are barely there, and recovery is much easier than after a traditional procedure.

VASER liposuction (ultrasound)

The fat cells are first broken down by ultrasound and then removed by vacuum. It is an ideal method for athletic abs — pronounced muscle relief — and for contouring the body.

It also suits delicate areas.

How the surgery goes: from consultation to result

Surgeon consultation

The doctor listens to your wishes, examines and assesses the fat deposits and rules out contraindications. At City Medical Centre a hormonal screening is also ordered — it helps predict the long-term result.

Pre-operative tests

Blood tests (complete count, coagulation panel, biochemistry, infections — HIV, hepatitis, syphilis), ECG, chest X-ray and, if needed, a GP consultation.

All tests can be done at the clinic with no waiting.

Preparation

2 weeks before surgery, drop medicines that affect clotting. One week before, stop drinking and smoking for faster healing. Last meal — 8 hours before.

Surgery day

The surgeon meets you and marks the areas; compression garments are fitted. Depending on the scope, local or general anesthesia is chosen.
Duration: from 1 hour (small areas) to 3–4 hours (combined procedure).

Waking up and monitoring

If anesthesia is general, you stay in hospital for one day under observation. If it is local, you are discharged 3–4 hours after surgery.

Recovery

Compression garments for 30–45 days. First results in 3–4 weeks, once swelling subsides. The final result is assessed at 3 months, when the skin has fully tightened.

Recovery after liposuction

Tumescent liposuction has a much shorter recovery than a conventional procedure, and most patients return to work in 3–7 days. During the first week, mild swelling and a raised temperature can occur — this is a normal reaction to surgery. You wear compression garments for 30–45 days; they hold the new contours and help tissues recover faster. No bathhouse, sauna, pool or intense sport in the first month. We recommend lymphatic drainage massage, pressotherapy and gradually returning to activity for the best result and faster recovery. Visible changes start in 3–4 weeks, and the final result is seen at 3 months.

Liposuction: frequently asked questions

Liposuction in Shivaji Nagar: techniques, stages and price

Which zones can be treated? The abdomen and flanks are the most requested, for women and men alike. Thighs (outer and inner), back and lower back, arms and shoulders, chin and neck, knees and the male chest are also corrected. Several areas can be done in one operation, saving recovery time and budget, which is why patients from Shivaji Nagar rarely limit themselves to a single zone.

Is it painful? No: the procedure is done under anaesthesia, local or general depending on scope. Afterwards mild discomfort is possible and is relieved with painkillers prescribed by the doctor. Most patients return to their usual routine in 7–10 days, while swelling and bruising resolve by weeks 4–5. That is the typical course for people in Shivaji Nagar after liposuction.

There are no surprises in the bill: the price is set after an examination, recorded in the contract and stays the same. Starting from $1,200 per area, liposuction can be paid in interest-free instalments. Patients from Shivaji Nagar begin with a free consultation where the surgeon answers questions about technique, recovery and contraindications before anything is decided.
