What is liposuction
and who is it for?

Liposuction means surgical removal of excess subcutaneous fat from specific problem areas. It is not for losing weight and cannot stand in for diet and exercise. It is about targeted body contouring: saddlebags on the thighs, a sagging abdomen, fat deposits on the back, flanks, arms or chin.

It is suited to people whose specific zones retain fat in spite of normal weight and regular activity. What matters most: the fat cells removed do not grow back in treated areas, so a stable lifestyle keeps the result for years.

Liposuction techniques at City Medical Centre

Tumescent (classic) liposuction

It begins with injecting a special solution into the area: saline plus lidocaine, adrenaline and several other agents. The solution loosens fatty tissue and constricts vessels, so there is little blood loss and removal is gentle. After this, the fat emulsion is removed by vacuum through a thin cannula.

There is almost no swelling or bruising after surgery, and recovery is much easier than after a conventional procedure.

VASER liposuction (ultrasound)

The fat cells are first broken down by ultrasound and then removed by vacuum. It is an ideal method for athletic abs — pronounced muscle relief — and for contouring the body.

It also suits delicate areas.

How the surgery goes: from consultation to result

Surgeon consultation

The doctor listens to you, performs an examination, evaluates your fat deposits and checks for contraindications. City Medical Centre also orders hormonal screening — it helps to predict the long-term result.

Pre-operative tests

Blood tests (full blood count, coagulation panel, biochemistry, infections — HIV, hepatitis, syphilis), ECG, chest X-ray and a GP consultation if needed.

All tests can be done at the clinic with no waiting.

Preparation

2 weeks before, stop medications that affect blood clotting. A week before, stop alcohol and smoking for faster healing. 8 hours before, the last meal.

Surgery day

You see the surgeon, who marks the areas, and the compression garments are fitted. Anesthesia can be local or general depending on the scope.
It takes from 1 hour (small areas) to 3–4 hours (combined procedure).

Waking up and monitoring

After general anesthesia — one day under observation in hospital. After local anesthesia — home 3–4 hours after surgery.

Recovery

Compression garments stay on for 30–45 days. Once swelling subsides, first results are visible in 3–4 weeks. At 3 months, with the skin fully tightened, the final result is assessed.

Recovery after liposuction

Recovery is much shorter after tumescent liposuction than after a conventional procedure, and most patients resume work within 3–7 days. The first week may bring mild swelling and a raised temperature — a normal response to surgery. Wearing compression garments for 30–45 days fixes the new contours and speeds up tissue recovery. For one month, the bathhouse, sauna, pool and intense sport are off-limits. For the best result and faster healing, we recommend lymphatic drainage massage, pressotherapy and a gradual return to activity. You'll see first changes in 3–4 weeks and the final result at 3 months.

Liposuction: frequently asked questions

Liposuction in Pimpri: what you should know

It is worth being clear about what the surgery does not do. Liposuction does not treat obesity and is not a way to lose kilos; if your weight is unstable, a nutritionist or endocrinologist comes first. Nor does it change the skin structure behind cellulite, although smoother contours make it less visible. What it does for people in Pimpri is remove local fat and reshape the silhouette.

Recovery after tumescent liposuction is much shorter than after a conventional procedure. Most patients return to work within 3–7 days. Mild swelling and a raised temperature in the first week are a normal response. Compression garments are worn for 30–45 days to fix the new contours. For those in Pimpri, lymphatic drainage massage and pressotherapy are recommended to speed things up.

Liposuction starts from $1,200 for a single area, and the final figure is calculated individually after an examination. For patients from Pimpri, the price is fixed in the contract with no hidden extras, and interest-free instalments are available. The first consultation with the surgeon is free: leave your name and phone number, and a coordinator will contact you to book it.
