What is liposuction
and who is it for?

Liposuction means surgical removal of excess subcutaneous fat from specific problem areas. It is not for losing weight and cannot stand in for diet and exercise. It is about targeted body contouring: saddlebags on the thighs, a sagging abdomen, fat deposits on the back, flanks, arms or chin.

Liposuction is for people whose particular areas keep fat despite a normal weight and an active lifestyle. The main point: fat cells removed from treated areas don't grow back, so with a stable lifestyle the result lasts a long time.

Liposuction techniques at City Medical Centre

Tumescent (classic) liposuction

First the treatment area receives a special saline-based solution with lidocaine, adrenaline and several other agents. The fat tissue loosens and the vessels constrict, so blood loss is minimal and removal gentle. The fat emulsion is then drawn out by vacuum via a thin cannula.

Swelling and bruising are close to none after the operation, and recovery is considerably easier than after a conventional procedure.

VASER liposuction (ultrasound)

Before vacuum removal, ultrasound breaks the fat cells down. This makes the method ideal for body contouring and for defining pronounced muscle relief, i.e. athletic abs.

It also suits delicate areas.

How the surgery goes: from consultation to result

Surgeon consultation

The doctor takes note of your wishes, examines you, evaluates the fat deposits and excludes contraindications. At City Medical Centre we also order hormonal screening to help predict the long-term result.

Pre-operative tests

Blood tests (complete count, coagulation panel, biochemistry, infections — HIV, hepatitis, syphilis), ECG, chest X-ray and, if needed, a GP consultation.

All tests can be done at the clinic with no waiting.

Preparation

2 weeks before: stop medications that affect blood clotting. A week before: no alcohol and no smoking, so you heal faster. 8 hours before: your final meal.

Surgery day

The surgeon meets you, marks the areas and fits the compression garments. Local or general anesthesia is used depending on the scope.
Time on the table: from 1 hour (small areas) to 3–4 hours (combined procedure).

Waking up and monitoring

One day of hospital observation with general anesthesia; with local anesthesia you leave 3–4 hours after surgery.

Recovery

Compression garments are needed for 30–45 days. In 3–4 weeks the swelling subsides and first results appear; the final result is assessed at 3 months with the skin fully tightened.

Recovery after liposuction

Compared with a conventional procedure, recovery after tumescent liposuction is much shorter: most patients go back to work within 3–7 days. Mild swelling and a raised temperature in the first week are possible and normal after surgery. Compression garments, worn for 30–45 days, fix the new contours and speed tissue recovery. The bathhouse, sauna, pool and intense sport are off-limits for the first month. Lymphatic drainage massage, pressotherapy and a gradual return to activity help achieve the best result and faster recovery. First changes are visible in 3–4 weeks; the final result comes at 3 months.

Liposuction: frequently asked questions

Liposuction in Coimbatore: techniques, stages and price

The operation is performed for adults aged 18 and over with no contraindications, and there is no upper age limit: the decision is made individually after an examination. Contraindications include endocrine obesity, decompensated diabetes, blood clotting disorders, cancer, pregnancy and breastfeeding. Anyone from Coimbatore with a chronic condition should discuss it with a clinic doctor first.

Results appear in stages. The first changes show about two weeks after surgery as the main swelling subsides, visible contouring comes at 3–4 weeks, and the interim result is assessed at 1.5–2 months. The final contours form within 3–6 months, once the skin has fully tightened and the tissues have adapted. Patients from Coimbatore see the surgeon at check-ups after 7 days and 3 months.

The cost is built around your zones: from $1,200 for the most compact area, rising for larger combinations such as the torso or the abdomen with flanks. Nothing is added later, because the contract fixes the price. Coimbatore residents can split payment into interest-free instalments and begin with a free surgeon consultation, booked through the form on the page.
