How it goes
An agreed plan for the correction, observation in hospital and recovery monitoring for a year.
1The surgeon examines your figure, discusses your wishes and selects the best volume, shape and correction method.
2We hold a surgery date for you. You can pay the deposit by card at the clinic or online by bank transfer; all terms are set out in the contract for medical services
3A complete pre-operative check-up comes first: blood tests, an ECG and the other examinations prescribed by your doctor.
4Mammoplasty is performed according to your individual plan. The surgery is done under general anaesthesia while your condition is monitored throughout.
5After surgery you stay in the clinic's comfortable inpatient ward under the care of the medical team until discharge.
6After surgery you get a recovery programme. Check-ups at 7 days, 3 and 6 months help track your recovery. For a year after surgery, consultations with your surgeon are free.

Before surgery it helps to follow a few easy steps: rest as well as work, sleep more, keep away from stress, anxiety and strong emotions, and reduce physical activity.
At least one month before the procedure, oral hormonal contraceptives should be stopped
Aspirin-containing drugs, steroids and hormonal medications for chronic conditions must be stopped before surgery
Have your tests done a week before surgery
Swelling from surgery fades after 3 weeks
Scars form in 3 weeks
Avoid physical exertion (lifting over 3 kg)
Avoid raising arms above shoulder level — 3 weeks
Post-correction recovery means wearing compression garments for 1–1.5 months
Intense gym workouts should be avoided for up to 40 days, along with overly active aerobics; after a month light cardio may be possible. Watch your diet.
Within 3 months, discomfort disappears
Up to three months without baths or saunas, and without physiotherapy
Within 3 months, inflammation in the tissue fully resolves and a “pocket” takes shape around the implant

FAQ
Mammoplasty includes several procedures: augmentation (adding volume with implants), reduction (removing excess tissue and skin), mastopexy (lifting sagging breasts), reconstruction (after mastectomy) and asymmetry correction. The optimal method is selected individually, based on your wishes and the surgeon's recommendation.
Message us — our coordinator will get back to you shortly and book your consultation. The plastic surgeon consultation is free.
Following all recommendations makes complications rare. Still, they may involve hematoma or seroma, infection of the wound, decreased or increased nipple sensitivity, capsular contracture, aesthetic asymmetry, wound separation and tissue necrosis.
The results of mammoplasty are long-lasting: roughly 10–15 years after augmentation (until the implants are replaced) and 5–10 years after a lift or reduction. Weight, pregnancy, skin aging and gravity all influence how long they last. Wearing supportive underwear and managing your weight help maintain the result.
Whether you can breastfeed after mammoplasty depends on the kind of surgery. After augmentation via an under-breast or armpit incision with the implant placed under the muscle, lactation is usually preserved, since the glandular tissue is not damaged. A lift or reduction carries a higher risk because ducts may be cut. Talk this over with your surgeon beforehand.
Selecting an implant means weighing material (silicone looks the most natural, saline is less often used), shape (round or anatomical teardrop), surface (smooth or textured), size and profile. The surgeon then chooses the optimal option for your anatomy and wishes.
The operation itself happens under general anaesthesia, so nothing is felt. Moderate discomfort can occur in the first 1–3 days and responds to painkillers. By day 5–7 pain decreases a lot, and by weeks 2–3 discomfort is gone. In case of severe pain, tell your doctor right away.
You can return to work (without physical exertion) after 7–14 days. Light walks after 1–2 weeks. Fitness and swimming after 4–6 weeks, strength training after 3 months. Pool and sea after 4–6 weeks. Wear compression garments for 4–6 weeks. Exact timing depends on your recovery.
There is no scientific evidence that mammoplasty increases breast cancer risk. Implants do not cause cancer. After surgery, keep up regular screening — self-exams, mammography and ultrasound. Always tell the examining doctor about your implants.
You can have mammoplasty after a C-section, though your body needs to recover completely first. Wait a minimum of 6–12 months after childbirth and the end of breastfeeding. Before surgery, a surgeon's consultation and examination are mandatory.
Mammoplasty does result in scars, but a skilled surgeon keeps them minimal. Incisions are made in areas that are out of sight: under the breast, around the areola or in the armpit. At first scars are reddish, and within 6–12 months they fade and become nearly invisible.
In the first weeks after surgery, slight asymmetry is normal: swelling and uneven healing are behind it. If shape or size still differ after 3–6 months, see your surgeon for a check-up to find the reason.
After mammoplasty, nipple and breast sensitivity may change temporarily — decrease or increase. The cause is irritation of nerve endings. In most cases sensitivity returns within 3–12 months. If there is no improvement after a year, see your surgeon.
Hormonal drugs (contraceptives, hormone replacement therapy) do not affect implants directly, but may cause swelling or changes in breast tissue volume, temporarily affecting appearance. Be sure to tell your surgeon about such medications before surgery.

Implants are the core of augmentation, and their choice defines the look. Round or teardrop, smooth or textured shells, different sizes and profiles — every option changes the final contour. If you are weighing breast augmentation in Maputo, the plastic surgeon will compare the variants against your anatomy and help pick the one closest to the result you have in mind.
The journey begins with an initial consultation: the doctor examines and palpates the breasts to rule out lumps and discusses expectations with you. Patients from Maputo then complete a pre-op work-up — blood tests, coagulation panel, infection screening, ECG, chest X-ray and breast ultrasound. The surgery lasts 1.5 to 3 hours under general anaesthesia, followed by one day of inpatient observation.
How much is breast augmentation in Maputo? From $4,700 (≈ MZN 305,000) for the complete package. That sum includes the surgery, anaesthesia, inpatient care with meals, round-the-clock monitoring by staff and a full year of post-op follow-up until the final result. To start, send your name and phone number or write in a messenger; a coordinator will contact you and book a free consultation.

I went to Dmitry Sergeyevich for breast augmentation with implants. At the consultation everything was explained in detail, and together we chose the best size. The operation under combined anaesthesia took 2 hours, and I was discharged home the next day. The swelling went down in about a month, and my breasts look very natural. The year of follow-up care is a real lifesaver: you can always ask a question and get an answer. Thank you to the clinic!

Maputo is the capital and largest city of Mozambique. It has a population of 1,088,449 (as of 2017), and the wider metropolitan area, which includes the neighbouring city of Matola, has 2,717,437 people. It is a port city whose economy is centred on commerce, and it is known for its lively cultural scene and mixed architecture. Many women in this city work in trade, administration, education, services and family businesses. Breast augmentation therefore has to fit a busy schedule, not only a medical calendar.
Maputo lies on a large natural bay on the Indian Ocean. The city is divided into seven administrative divisions, each split into quarters, the bairros. Daily distances inside the city can be long and the working day often starts early. For a patient this means one practical thing: plan the first two weeks after surgery so that you do not have to carry heavy bags, push through crowds or stand for hours.
This text is written for patients in Maputo who are weighing up augmentation with implants. It explains how the climate, the rhythm of the city and local habits connect with each stage: the first online consultation, the operation, the weeks in a compression garment and the return to normal life. The medical figures below are general and the final plan is always set by your surgeon after examining you.
You do not need to go anywhere to start. The consultation with City Medical Centre is free and online. Our coordinators are available 24/7 on Telegram and WhatsApp, so a woman in Maputo can write after the working day, in the evening when the children are asleep, or early in the morning. A coordinator will call you back 24/7, and your time matters to us: booking is easy and the personal approach adapts to your pace.
For the first conversation prepare a few simple things: your height and weight, the size you imagine, photographs of how you see yourself now, a list of any illnesses, medicines and allergies, and information about earlier operations. Tell the coordinator whether you have had children, whether you have breastfed, and whether you plan a pregnancy. These details decide which implant, which position and which incision your surgeon will discuss with you.
Portuguese is the native language of almost 50% of residents of Maputo as of 2017, and Xitsonga is also widely spoken. If you are more comfortable explaining your wishes in the language you use at home, say so at the start. A clear conversation about expectations is part of safe planning, and a good consultation never pushes you towards a decision.
Maputo has a tropical savanna climate. The city averages 829.6 mm of precipitation a year, with abundant rain in summer and little in winter. The mean temperature is 22.8 °C over the year, with January the hottest month at a mean of 26.8 °C and July the coolest at 18.8 °C. These figures matter for recovery, because heat, humidity and sweating influence how comfortable a compression garment feels.
After the correction, recovery involves 1–1.5 months of compression garments. In the hot, humid months this can be tiring. Choose soft, breathable fabric, keep a second garment so one can dry while you wear the other, and follow your surgeon's rules on when it may be taken off for washing. Light cotton tops worn over the garment, loose dresses and shirts that button at the front are easier than anything that must be pulled over the head.
Swelling after surgery goes away after 3 weeks. In summer, long hours in heat can make the chest feel heavier and warmer, so rest in a ventilated room, drink enough water and avoid direct midday sun on the chest. In the cooler winter weeks the garment is more comfortable, but you still need to keep the wounds clean and dry. Tell your coordinator if you notice increasing redness, heat or discharge, and do not wait for the next scheduled check.
There is no single correct month, but the climate of the city offers a useful guide. The cooler, drier months around July, when the mean temperature is 18.8 °C, are gentler for the first weeks in a compression garment. Many patients also find it easier to rest at home when there is no need to cope with the heat and heavy summer rain that arrive between the hottest months.
If your work follows a seasonal pattern, for example a busy trading period or the school calendar, choose a date that leaves 7–14 days free. You may go back to work (with no physical exertion) after 7–14 days, so a desk job is easier to resume than a job on your feet. Plan the surgery after your busiest weeks, not just before them.
Think also about family events. Weddings, baptisms, graduations and celebrations in the bairros bring crowds, dancing, hugging and long hours on your feet. For the first 3 weeks there should be no lifting of arms above shoulder height, so it is wise to place the operation well before or well after a big family occasion. Ask your coordinator to build a calendar with you that includes check-ups at 7 days, 3 and 6 months.
General anaesthesia is used for the surgery itself, so there is no sensation during the operation. The stay is short: 1–2 days, and in some plans 1 day. In that time you are under 24/7 monitoring by medical staff. Before surgery your surgeon will check your health, go through your medicines and explain which ones to stop and when.
In the first 1–3 days you may feel moderate discomfort, which painkillers relieve. Pain subsides significantly by day 5–7 and discomfort is gone by weeks 2–3. If pain becomes severe, inform your doctor right away. Do not wait for it to pass, and do not treat it with medicines that your surgeon has not approved.
For a woman in Maputo the first days at home are the most practical stage. Arrange help with cooking, carrying water or shopping, school runs and care of small children. Keep everything you need at waist height so that you do not have to reach up. Food in the city is rich in rice, fish, seafood, beans and sauces; choose lighter, easy meals during the first days and monitor your diet and meals in the following weeks.
You may go back to work (with no physical exertion) after 7–14 days, take light walks after 1–2 weeks, and do fitness and swimming after 4–6 weeks. Strength training is allowed after 3 months. Timing depends on your recovery, so treat these figures as a frame, not a deadline. Teachers, office staff and students at the city's universities can usually return to seated work earlier than those who carry loads or stand all day.
Do not lift anything heavier than 3 kg and avoid heavy exertion. In practice this means that for a period you will not carry a full shopping bag, a child on one arm or a heavy laptop bag across the city. Ask a relative or a colleague to help, and use a light rucksack with wide straps only after your surgeon allows it.
Maputo has a strong sporting culture, with stadiums and a large Olympic-standard swimming pool built for the 2011 All-Africa Games. If you play football with friends, swim, dance or go to the gym, plan a break. For as long as 40 days, stay away from intense gym workouts and overly active aerobics; light cardio is possible after a month. Pool and sea after 4–6 weeks, and compression garments stay on for 4–6 weeks according to the standard plan. Strength training waits until 3 months.
Life in Maputo is tied to its bay and the Indian Ocean. Many people spend weekends by the water, and the coast is a natural place for rest. After augmentation, though, the sea and pool are not for the first weeks. Pool and sea are allowed after 4–6 weeks, and only when your surgeon confirms that the wounds have healed and the garment can be taken off.
Sun is a separate question. Scars are reddish early on, and over 6–12 months they fade and become almost unnoticeable. During this time strong sun can darken them. Cover the area with clothing, and ask your surgeon which protective care to use once the wound is closed. Do not rely on a swimsuit alone, and avoid long sunbathing during the first months.
Dust and humidity also matter. Keep dressings dry and clean, change into fresh clothing after being outdoors in hot weather, and do not use creams or herbal preparations on the wound unless your surgeon says so. If you plan a holiday on the water, choose a date at least 4–6 weeks after the operation, and better later, so that you can enjoy it without restrictions.
Augmentation suits adult women who are healthy, who have realistic expectations and who want a change in volume or shape. It is not a solution for every situation. A consultation and check-up with a surgeon are required before surgery, and the surgeon may recommend a different approach, such as a lift, if the issue is skin and position rather than volume.
Some conditions call for waiting or a different plan: acute infections, uncontrolled chronic illness, pregnancy, breastfeeding and unstable weight. Mammoplasty after a C-section is possible, but only once your body has fully recovered. Allow at least 6–12 months after giving birth and after breastfeeding stops. Tell your coordinator honestly about your history, because it changes the safety of the plan.
Weight also counts. The World Health Organization describes overweight and obesity as conditions that affect many health outcomes, and stable, healthy weight helps both surgery and the long-term shape of the breast. Weight changes, pregnancy, skin aging and gravity affect how long the result lasts. To maintain the result, choose supportive underwear and control your weight.
Results after mammoplasty last a long while: about 10–15 years for augmentation (until implant replacement) and 5–10 years for a lift or reduction. In 3 months any inflammatory changes in the tissue disappear, and a pocket forms around the implant. Discomfort fades after 3 months, so the final feeling of the breast is judged later than the first weeks.
There are scars after mammoplasty, though a skilled surgeon keeps them minimal. The incisions go in discreet areas, such as under the breast, around the areola or in the armpit. In the first weeks slight asymmetry is normal: swelling and uneven healing are behind it. If shape or size still differ after 3–6 months, see your surgeon for a check-up to find the reason.
Breast and nipple sensitivity may change for a time, going down or up, because of irritation of nerve endings. In the majority of cases sensitivity is restored within 3–12 months. If nothing has improved after a year, consult your surgeon.
After surgery you get a recovery programme. Check-ups at 7 days, 3 and 6 months help track your recovery. For a year after surgery, consultations with your surgeon are free, and follow-up support runs for 12 months. Because you stay at home in Maputo, these check-ups are held online, with the coordinators reachable around the clock.
Meals in Maputo are built around rice, fish, seafood, beans, vegetables and rich sauces, and the city's mix of Bantu, Portuguese, Arab, Indian and Chinese influences means there are many styles of cooking to choose from. After breast augmentation the aim is simple: steady, balanced food that does not strain your body while it heals. Monitor your diet and meals, and avoid long gaps without eating when you are tired and short of strength.
Heavy, very salty or very spicy dishes can leave you feeling bloated and uncomfortable while you wear a compression garment. Choose lighter portions, plenty of water and simple home cooking for the first days. If the family usually eats a large shared meal on Sundays, ask someone else to serve and carry the dishes so that you do not lift pots or heavy plates. No heavy exertion (lifting more than 3 kg) also covers a full cooking pot.
Weight matters for the long life of the result. Weight changes, pregnancy, skin aging and gravity affect how long it lasts, so a steady way of eating helps you keep the shape you have chosen. To maintain the result, choose supportive underwear and control your weight. Do not start a strict diet right before or right after the operation without asking your surgeon.
In Maputo a woman is often at the centre of a busy household: children, parents, cousins and neighbours in the bairro are all part of daily life. This is a strength during recovery, because relatives can share the load, but it needs agreement in advance. Tell the people close to you what the operation involves and what you cannot do for the first weeks, so that nobody expects you to lift a child or carry a bucket.
Mark the practical tasks that must be handed over: school runs, cooking, washing clothes, shopping at the central market and carrying bags. Do not lift arms above shoulder height for 3 weeks, which also rules out hanging laundry on a high line or reaching for the top shelf. Ask a relative to take these jobs, and keep the things you need within easy reach.
If you have small children, think about how you will pick them up. A toddler on one arm is far above the 3 kg limit. Sit down and let the child climb onto your lap instead, and arrange for another adult to be present for the first weeks. Spouses, mothers, sisters and friends often become the best support, and it helps when they join the coordinator conversation so that everyone hears the same advice.
Some things in recovery are normal and some need a call. In the first weeks slight asymmetry is normal because swelling and uneven healing are behind it. Discomfort in the first 1–3 days is expected. What is not normal is severe pain, and if pain becomes severe, inform your doctor right away. The same applies to rising heat, spreading redness or any discharge from the wound.
Because you recover at home in Maputo, you are the first person to notice a change. Take a photo of the chest each morning in the same light, and keep a short note of how you feel. These small records help the surgeon judge your progress during the online check-ups at 7 days, 3 and 6 months. A coordinator will call you back 24/7, so you never need to wait for morning to ask a question.
Remember the longer timeline as well. Swelling goes away after 3 weeks, discomfort fades after 3 months, and sensitivity is usually restored within 3–12 months. If shape or size still differ after 3–6 months, or nothing has improved after a year, consult your surgeon. Patience, honest reporting and regular check-ups are the safest habits of recovery.
Write your questions before the call and keep them in your phone. Ask which implant shape and size fit your frame, and why. Ask which incision is planned and where the scar will lie. Ask how the implant will be positioned and how the plan accounts for your daily life in a warm, humid city.
Ask what a normal recovery looks like week by week and which signs mean you should call at once. Ask when you can drive, when you can carry your child, when you can return to football, dancing or the gym, and when you may swim. Ask how long the compression garment must be worn and how to wash it in hot weather.
Ask also about the future: how long the implants last, what happens if you become pregnant, and what to do if your weight changes. A good surgeon answers these questions plainly, without pressure, and explains that no result can be promised in advance. A calm, informed decision made at home in Maputo is better than a quick one.
Yes. The consultation is free and online. You write to the coordinators on Telegram or WhatsApp, they are available 24/7, and a coordinator will call you back 24/7. You send your photos and health details, and the surgeon assesses your case remotely before any decision is taken.
General anaesthesia is used for the surgery itself, so there is no sensation during the operation. The stay is 1–2 days, and in some plans 1 day. During this time you are under 24/7 monitoring by medical staff.
You may go back to work, with no physical exertion, after 7–14 days. If your job involves lifting, long standing or carrying goods, ask your surgeon for a later date. Timing depends on your recovery.
In the first 1–3 days you may feel moderate discomfort, which painkillers relieve. Pain subsides significantly by day 5–7, and discomfort is gone by weeks 2–3. If pain becomes severe, inform your doctor right away.
Compression garments stay on for 4–6 weeks, and after the correction recovery involves 1–1.5 months of compression garments. In the hot months choose breathable fabric, have a spare garment and ask your surgeon how to wash it. Swelling after surgery goes away after 3 weeks.
Pool and sea are allowed after 4–6 weeks, and fitness and swimming after 4–6 weeks too, provided your surgeon confirms healing. Strength training is allowed after 3 months. Avoid long sun exposure on the scars during the first months.
For as long as 40 days, stay away from intense gym workouts and overly active aerobics. Light cardio is possible after a month. Do not lift more than 3 kg and do not lift arms above shoulder height for 3 weeks.
It is possible, but only once your body has fully recovered. Allow at least 6–12 months after giving birth and after breastfeeding stops. A consultation and check-up with a surgeon are required before surgery.
There are scars, though a skilled surgeon keeps them minimal. Incisions go under the breast, around the areola or in the armpit. Early on they are reddish, and over 6–12 months they fade and are almost unnoticeable.
You get a recovery programme with check-ups at 7 days, 3 and 6 months. For a year after surgery, consultations with your surgeon are free, and follow-up support lasts 12 months. If shape or size still differ after 3–6 months, ask for a check-up.
Choose light, simple home meals, drink enough water and avoid very heavy, salty or spicy dishes while you wear the compression garment. Monitor your diet and meals in the following weeks, and ask your surgeon before starting any strict diet.
Arrange help from a spouse, mother, sister or friend before the operation. They can cook, carry shopping, do the school runs and look after small children, because you must avoid lifting more than 3 kg and avoid lifting arms above shoulder height for 3 weeks.
Write to the coordinators on Telegram or WhatsApp. They are available 24/7 and a coordinator will call you back 24/7. If pain becomes severe, inform your doctor right away and do not wait for the next scheduled check.
