What is liposuction
and who is it for?

In liposuction, the surgeon removes excess fat lying under the skin in problem areas. It won't replace diet and exercise, and it is not a weight-loss method. Its job is targeted contouring: removing saddlebags on the thighs, a loose belly and fat on the back, flanks, arms or chin.

Liposuction is for people whose particular areas keep fat despite a normal weight and an active lifestyle. The main point: fat cells removed from treated areas don't grow back, so with a stable lifestyle the result lasts a long time.

Liposuction techniques at City Medical Centre

Tumescent (classic) liposuction

A special solution based on saline, with lidocaine, adrenaline and some other agents, is injected into the area first. It softens the fat tissue and constricts vessels, minimising blood loss and making removal gentle. After that, a thin cannula removes the fat emulsion by vacuum.

After surgery, bruising and swelling are nearly absent and recovery goes much more easily than after a standard procedure.

VASER liposuction (ultrasound)

The fat cells are first broken down by ultrasound and then removed by vacuum. It is an ideal method for athletic abs — pronounced muscle relief — and for contouring the body.

It also suits delicate areas.

How the surgery goes: from consultation to result

Surgeon consultation

The doctor discusses your wishes, carries out an examination, assesses fat deposits and rules out any contraindications. A hormonal screening is also ordered at City Medical Centre to help predict the long-term result.

Pre-operative tests

Blood work — complete count, coagulation panel, biochemistry, infection tests for HIV, hepatitis and syphilis — plus ECG, chest X-ray and a GP consultation if required.

All tests can be done at the clinic with no waiting.

Preparation

2 weeks before, stop medicines that affect blood clotting. A week before, give up alcohol and smoking to heal faster. 8 hours before, have your last meal.

Surgery day

Meeting your surgeon, marking the areas and fitting compression garments. Depending on the scope, anesthesia is local or general.
Duration ranges from 1 hour for small areas to 3–4 hours for a combined procedure.

Waking up and monitoring

Hospital stay: one day under observation after general anesthesia, or discharge 3–4 hours after surgery with local anesthesia.

Recovery

You wear compression for 30–45 days. First results come in 3–4 weeks as the swelling fades; the final result is evaluated in 3–6 months after the skin fully tightens.

Recovery after liposuction

Tumescent liposuction has a much shorter recovery than a conventional procedure, and most patients return to work in 7–10 days. During the first week, mild swelling and a raised temperature can occur — this is a normal reaction to surgery. You wear compression garments for 30–45 days; they hold the new contours and help tissues recover faster. No bathhouse, sauna, pool or intense sport in the first month. We recommend lymphatic drainage massage, pressotherapy and gradually returning to activity for the best result and faster recovery. Visible changes start in 3–4 weeks, and the final result is seen in 3–6 months.

Liposuction: frequently asked questions

Liposuction in Port Said: from consultation to result

Liposuction is not only a women's procedure. The abdomen and flanks are the top request for both sexes, and in men the chest is a separate case: the fat component of gynecomastia or pseudogynecomastia can be removed surgically. VASER, with ultrasound breakdown of fat, helps define pronounced muscle relief. Men in Port Said can discuss which technique suits their goals at the consultation.

Preparation follows a simple schedule. Two weeks before surgery, medications that affect blood clotting are stopped; a week before, alcohol and smoking are cut out for faster healing; the last meal is eight hours before the operation. On the day itself, the surgeon meets you, marks the areas and fits compression garments. This is the routine for everyone in Port Said.

Liposuction in Port Said costs from $1,200 (≈ EGP 63,000). The exact amount depends on which areas you want to correct — abdomen, flanks, thighs, back, arms, chin or knees — and on whether they are combined in one operation. The surgeon calculates it individually after the examination. The first consultation is free, and a coordinator will book it once you leave a request.
