What is liposuction
and who is it for?

Liposuction is surgery that takes excess subcutaneous fat out of problem zones. It does not make you lose weight and does not replace diet or exercise. What it does is targeted contouring — removing thigh saddlebags, a sagging belly and fat on the back, flanks, arms or chin.

This operation is meant for people whose specific areas keep fat despite normal weight and an active life. The key point: removed fat cells do not grow back in the treated zones, so with a steady lifestyle the result is long-lasting.

Liposuction techniques at City Medical Centre

Tumescent (classic) liposuction

The treatment area is first injected with a special solution of saline, lidocaine, adrenaline and several other agents. This loosens the fat and narrows the vessels, so blood loss is minimal and removal is gentle. Next, the fat emulsion is vacuumed out through a thin cannula.

You get almost no swelling or bruising after surgery, and recovery is far easier than after a conventional one.

VASER liposuction (ultrasound)

Before vacuum removal, ultrasound breaks the fat cells down. This makes the method ideal for body contouring and for defining pronounced muscle relief, i.e. athletic abs.

It also suits delicate areas.

How the surgery goes: from consultation to result

Surgeon consultation

We listen to your wishes: the doctor examines you, assesses the fat deposits and rules out contraindications. At City Medical Centre there is also a hormonal screening that helps predict the long-term result.

Pre-operative tests

Blood tests (complete count, coagulation panel, biochemistry, infections — HIV, hepatitis, syphilis), ECG, chest X-ray and, if needed, a GP consultation.

All tests can be done at the clinic with no waiting.

Preparation

2 weeks before: stop medications that affect blood clotting. A week before: no alcohol and no smoking, so you heal faster. 8 hours before: your final meal.

Surgery day

Areas are marked, compression garments fitted and you meet the surgeon. Whether anesthesia is local or general depends on the scope.
Time on the table: from 1 hour (small areas) to 3–4 hours (combined procedure).

Waking up and monitoring

General anesthesia means one day in hospital under observation; with local anesthesia, discharge is 3–4 hours after surgery.

Recovery

Wear compression garments for 30–45 days. You see first results in 3–4 weeks when swelling subsides, and the final result in 3–6 months, when the skin has fully tightened.

Recovery after liposuction

Compared with a conventional procedure, recovery after tumescent liposuction is much shorter: most patients go back to work within 7–10 days. Mild swelling and a raised temperature in the first week are possible and normal after surgery. Compression garments, worn for 30–45 days, fix the new contours and speed tissue recovery. The bathhouse, sauna, pool and intense sport are off-limits for the first month. Lymphatic drainage massage, pressotherapy and a gradual return to activity help achieve the best result and faster recovery. First changes are visible in 3–4 weeks; the final result comes in 3–6 months.

Liposuction: frequently asked questions

How liposuction works for Giza residents

Some areas keep their fat no matter how active you are or how normal your weight is. That is exactly who liposuction in Giza is for: people with local deposits that resist training and diet, uneven fat distribution or disrupted body proportions. It also helps restore the silhouette after childbirth or sudden weight loss, and in men it removes the fat component of gynecomastia.

Is it painful? No: the procedure is done under anaesthesia, local or general depending on scope. Afterwards mild discomfort is possible and is relieved with painkillers prescribed by the doctor. Most patients return to their usual routine in 7–10 days, while swelling and bruising resolve by weeks 4–5. That is the typical course for people in Giza after liposuction.

What does the first step cost? Nothing: the plastic surgeon consultation is free. At it you learn whether liposuction suits you, which method fits your zones and what the final price will be, starting from $1,200 (≈ EGP 63,000). People in Giza can fill in the short form or write in any messenger, and the coordinator will get back to you shortly to arrange a convenient time.
