What is liposuction
and who is it for?

Liposuction surgically removes excess fat under the skin from problem areas. It is neither a weight-loss method nor a replacement for diet and exercise. The aim is targeted contouring: getting rid of saddlebags on the thighs, a sagging belly and fat deposits on the back, flanks, arms or chin.

The procedure is right for people with a normal weight and active lifestyle whose certain areas still store fat. Key fact: removed fat cells do not return to treated areas, so with a steady routine the result is long-lasting.

Liposuction techniques at City Medical Centre

Tumescent (classic) liposuction

First, a special saline-based solution with lidocaine, adrenaline and several other agents is injected into the area. It loosens fat tissue and constricts the vessels, keeping blood loss to a minimum and allowing gentle removal. The fat emulsion is then suctioned out through a thin cannula.

Swelling and bruising after surgery are almost absent, and recovering is much easier than with a conventional procedure.

VASER liposuction (ultrasound)

First ultrasound breaks down the fat cells, then they are removed by vacuum. The method is ideal for pronounced muscle relief, such as athletic abs, and body contouring.

It also suits delicate areas.

How the surgery goes: from consultation to result

Surgeon consultation

The doctor discusses your wishes, carries out an examination, assesses fat deposits and rules out any contraindications. A hormonal screening is also ordered at City Medical Centre to help predict the long-term result.

Pre-operative tests

Blood work — complete count, coagulation panel, biochemistry, infection tests for HIV, hepatitis and syphilis — plus ECG, chest X-ray and a GP consultation if required.

All tests can be done at the clinic with no waiting.

Preparation

Stop any medications affecting blood clotting 2 weeks before; stop alcohol and smoking a week before for quicker healing; eat for the last time 8 hours before.

Surgery day

Meeting your surgeon, marking the areas and fitting compression garments. Depending on the scope, anesthesia is local or general.
Allow from 1 hour (small areas) to 3–4 hours (combined procedure).

Waking up and monitoring

Hospital stay: one day under observation after general anesthesia, or discharge 3–4 hours after surgery with local anesthesia.

Recovery

The compression period is 30–45 days. First results emerge in 3–4 weeks, once swelling is down, and the final result is assessed in 3–6 months when the skin has fully tightened.

Recovery after liposuction

Tumescent liposuction means a much shorter recovery than a conventional procedure. Within 7–10 days most patients are working again. In week one there may be mild swelling and a raised temperature, which is a normal reaction to surgery. Compression garments are needed for 30–45 days: they fix the new contours and help tissues recover faster. Bathhouse, sauna, pool and intense sport are not allowed for the first month. Lymphatic drainage massage, pressotherapy and a gradual return to activity are recommended for the best result and faster recovery. First changes show in 3–4 weeks, the final result in 3–6 months.

Liposuction: frequently asked questions

Liposuction in Fes: a short guide

The aim is not a smaller number on the scales but a better shape. Liposuction targets saddlebags, back rolls, a belly that will not flatten and fat on the arms, chin or knees. For patients from Fes, the result depends on one key fact: removed fat cells do not return, while the remaining ones can still grow with weight gain, so a balanced diet keeps the contour for the long term.

Results appear in stages. The first changes show about two weeks after surgery as the main swelling subsides, visible contouring comes at 3–4 weeks, and the interim result is assessed at 1.5–2 months. The final contours form within 3–6 months, once the skin has fully tightened and the tissues have adapted. Patients from Fes see the surgeon at check-ups after 7 days and 3 months.

Liposuction starts from $1,200 (≈ MAD 12,000) for a single area, and the final figure is calculated individually after an examination. For patients from Fes, the price is fixed in the contract with no hidden extras, and interest-free instalments are available. The first consultation with the surgeon is free: leave your name and phone number, and a coordinator will contact you to book it.
