What is liposuction
and who is it for?

As a surgical method, liposuction removes surplus fat beneath the skin in problem areas. Don't treat it as weight loss or as a substitute for diet and exercise: its purpose is targeted contouring, removing saddlebags on the thighs, a drooping belly and fat on the back, flanks, arms or chin.

Good candidates have a normal weight and an active lifestyle, yet certain zones keep their fat. The essential point is that fat cells removed from treated areas never grow back — keep your lifestyle steady and the result lasts long.

Liposuction techniques at City Medical Centre

Tumescent (classic) liposuction

The surgeon starts by injecting a special saline-based solution containing lidocaine, adrenaline and several other agents into the treatment area. It loosens fatty tissue and constricts vessels, which minimises bleeding and allows gentle removal. The fat emulsion is then removed by vacuum through a thin cannula.

Recovery is much easier than after a conventional procedure, with almost no swelling or bruising after surgery.

VASER liposuction (ultrasound)

Fat cells are broken down by ultrasound before vacuum removal. The method is ideal for defining pronounced muscle relief — athletic abs — and for body contouring.

It also suits delicate areas.

How the surgery goes: from consultation to result

Surgeon consultation

The doctor hears your wishes, examines and assesses the fat deposits and rules out contraindications. At City Medical Centre a hormonal screening is also ordered, which helps predict the long-term result.

Pre-operative tests

Pre-op tests: blood (complete count, coagulation panel, biochemistry, infections — HIV, hepatitis, syphilis), ECG, chest X-ray and, if needed, a GP consultation.

All tests can be done at the clinic with no waiting.

Preparation

For faster healing, stop alcohol and smoking a week before. Stop medications that affect blood clotting 2 weeks before. Have the last meal 8 hours before.

Surgery day

The surgeon meets you, marks the areas and fits the compression garments. Local or general anesthesia is used depending on the scope.
Duration ranges from 1 hour for small areas to 3–4 hours for a combined procedure.

Waking up and monitoring

If anesthesia is general, you stay in hospital for one day under observation. If it is local, you are discharged 3–4 hours after surgery.

Recovery

Plan on 30–45 days of compression garments. Initial results show at 3–4 weeks as swelling subsides; in 3–6 months the skin has fully tightened and the final result is assessed.

Recovery after liposuction

After tumescent liposuction, recovery is much shorter than after a conventional procedure. Most patients return to work within 7–10 days. In the first week, mild swelling and a raised temperature are possible — a normal response to surgery. Compression garments are worn for 30–45 days: they fix the new contours and speed up tissue recovery. In the first month, bathhouse, sauna, pool and intense sport are off-limits. For the best result and faster recovery we recommend lymphatic drainage massage, pressotherapy and a gradual return to activity. First visible changes appear in 3–4 weeks, the final result in 3–6 months.

Liposuction: frequently asked questions

Liposuction in Aleppo: from consultation to result

Liposuction is a surgical method of removing excess subcutaneous fat from problem areas. It is not a weight-loss tool and does not replace diet or exercise: its purpose is targeted contouring. Patients from Aleppo most often ask about saddlebags on the thighs, a sagging belly, and fat on the back, flanks, arms or chin. Fat cells taken from treated areas do not grow back, so with a steady lifestyle the result lasts.

Inside the operating room the process is gentle. With the tumescent method a solution of saline, lidocaine and adrenaline is injected into the area, loosening the fat and narrowing vessels. The fat emulsion is then removed by vacuum through a thin cannula. With VASER, ultrasound breaks down fat cells first. Either way, patients from Aleppo get micro-incisions that are barely visible later.

The cost is built around your zones: from $1,200 (≈ SYP 150,000) for the most compact area, rising for larger combinations such as the torso or the abdomen with flanks. Nothing is added later, because the contract fixes the price. Aleppo residents can split payment into interest-free instalments and begin with a free surgeon consultation, booked through the form on the page.
