City Medical Centre doctors

Yes. City Medical Centre has patients scattered across several countries, and you are offered a consultation online beforehand.

FUE: $2,200 (≈ AOA 2,050,000). DHI: $2,500 (≈ AOA 2,350,000). Combined: $2,700 (≈ AOA 2,550,000). A free consultation and graft count gives you the final, contract-fixed price with no hidden extras.

One day, nothing more, and you are home when it is done.

You stay numb the whole time, so pain is never an issue.

FUE is the classic method: grafts are harvested with tweezers, with no cuts or stitches. DHI implants grafts without channels, using a Choi pen. A combined method harvests grafts by FUE and implants them with the DHI pen.

It differs from person to person. The doctor counts grafts free of charge after examining the donor zone.

0–10 days heals the scalp, 2–4 weeks brings a normal shed of transplanted hair, 3–4 months starts regrowth, 6–9 months shows clear density, and 12–18 months delivers the final result.

A contract-backed, lifetime guarantee of hair growth comes with every procedure.

What a transplant asks of a patient in Luanda

FUE and DHI are both suitable for a patient in Luanda. Neither approach calls for cuts or stitches, local anaesthesia is all the pain relief required, and the operation is finished inside one day, so the evening is already free again.

Living in Luanda is no obstacle to a first opinion: the consultation runs online, costs nothing, and ends with the doctor saying whether a transplant helps after seeing photos of the area. Open 24/7.

Healing takes 0-10 days. At 2-4 weeks the transplanted hairs shed, which is normal, briefly disappointing and soon over. Growth restarts at 3-4 months and does not stop there.

Patient reviews

What patients write after this operation. Reviews are translated from the original language.

Andrey M.

I had the operation a month ago. Before and after surgery they were always in touch and helped with questions about my tests. The operation itself went wonderfully, the staff are polite and masters of their craft, you feel you are in safe hands. I am recovering now, and they answer all my questions. I am happy and I recommend them!

DHI hair transplant

Pavel Sinitsyn

The best clinic of all the ones I was choosing from. No regrets at all! The result is simply amazing, I am thrilled. I recommend it to everyone: these people do great work and make people happy. Once again, a huge thank you to everyone. Roman, the head of the clinic, is the best: he was personally in touch with me and looked after my recovery. Thank you for making my dream come true.

FUE hair transplant

Maria Akopyan

I thought about an eyebrow transplant for a long time and finally went for it. At first I was afraid the result would look unnatural, but when I saw my new eyebrows I was delighted! They came out full and in harmony with my face. I can hardly believe that now I just wash my face and go, I have never felt so free. For anyone tired of constant make-up, a transplant is a real lifesaver!

Eyebrow transplant (FUE)

Alexander M.

I really wanted a thick beard, but I had problems with it. I tried every home remedy and minoxidil, and nothing helped. After a long search for the best clinic I settled on this one. Thank you so much for the service, I liked everything and now I am happy! I had the beard transplant 10 months ago and I am very pleased with the result. By the way, the music in the clinic was great, as far as I remember. A friend of mine has already come to you for a transplant on my advice and was also happy with the result. I wish you every success!

Beard transplant (FUE)

Vladimir Z.

I went to the clinic to see a trichologist and had a hair transplant. I really liked the doctor's approach, and all the recommendations helped. I want to point out that nobody tries to sell you extra services: they tell you things as they are, and if some treatment is not needed, they do not push it. Cosy and clean.

DHI hair transplant

Artem Popov

This may sound obvious, but a head of hair really changes everything in your life. You feel much more confident and go through life like a winner. And it is all thanks to the doctor at this clinic and to the staff who take care of their patients. Many thanks to the clinic for a happy life with new hair, for the comfortable conditions and for the professionalism during the hair transplant.

All patient reviews

Page medically reviewed by Anastasia A. Kolesnik, hair transplant doctor. Review date: .

Luanda and the question of hair restoration

Luanda is the capital and largest city of Angola, its primary port and its major industrial, cultural and urban centre on the northern Atlantic coast. In 2024 the population reached more than 8.8 million inhabitants, about a third of the country. In a city of this size, people meet colleagues, clients, relatives and friends every day, so how your hair looks matters to many residents, and questions about hair transplantation (FUE / DHI) come up more and more often.

Patients from Luanda usually ask the same things. Will it look natural? How long until I can go back to work? What do I do about the sun and the dust? Who will I talk to if something worries me after the operation? This text answers these questions with Luanda in mind, so that you can plan calmly and decide without pressure.

Climate of Luanda and recovery after the operation

Luanda has a hot semi-desert climate, bordering on a hot desert one. It is warm to hot but surprisingly dry, because the cool Benguela Current keeps moisture from condensing into rain. Humidity is low compared with many other cities of the region, which makes the hotter months easier to bear. For a patient who has just had a transplant, the main enemies are direct sun, sweat and dust, not damp air.

Frequent fog keeps nights mild even in the completely dry months from May to October. During the first days, when the treated area and the donor area are healing, avoid direct sun on the scalp. Wear a loose, clean, breathable cap only when your surgeon allows it, and do not rub or press the grafts. Dust from construction works and busy roads is common in a city that is being rebuilt, so keep your hands clean and do not touch the scalp.

Healing takes about 0–10 days. Your coordinator and surgeon will tell you what to do in your own case, including how to protect the scalp when you go out.

Choosing the season for the operation

The short rainy season in Luanda falls in March and April, and the dry months run from May to October. There is no perfect month, since the sun is a factor all year round. What counts more is a calm period in your own calendar: no heavy outdoor work in the first days, no big events in the first weeks, and time to rest.

Think about your plans in advance. Weddings, baptisms, funerals and family gatherings are important in Luanda, and many people want to look their best at them. Remember that after the operation the transplanted hairs let go within 2-4 weeks, as expected. If you have an important event, plan the operation well before it, and discuss the dates with your coordinator.

Work, study and daily life in Luanda

Luanda lives on port trade, construction, oil, food and beverage production, textiles and many other industries. Some people work in offices, others outdoors or on construction and industrial sites. If your work is outdoors in sun and dust, tell your surgeon about it: it affects when you can go back and how you protect the scalp.

Traffic in Luanda is heavy, and minibus taxis known as candongueiros are crowded. In the first days after the operation, avoid crowds where someone may knock your head, and do not lean the treated area on a seat or a window. Students should plan around exams and lectures and agree with the doctor on a realistic time off.

Recovery goes in stages: 0–10 days for healing, 2–4 weeks for normal shedding of transplanted hair, 3–4 months for new growth to start, 6–9 months for real density, and 12–18 months for the final result. Keep these figures in mind when you plan work and social life.

Food, sport and the sea

Luanda sits on the Atlantic coast, and the sea, the beaches and the sports clubs of the city are part of everyday life. After the operation, salt water, sand and swimming pools can irritate the healing scalp, so ask your surgeon when it is safe to return to the sea or a pool. Do not decide this on your own because friends are going to the beach.

Heavy training, football and any activity with a lot of sweat should also wait until the doctor agrees. Sweat and friction on a fresh transplant are not helpful. When you return to sport, begin gently and watch how the scalp reacts.

Eat normally and drink enough water in the Luanda heat. Meals with family are a big part of life in the city, so plan the first days at home, where you can rest and eat without hurry.

Who is a candidate and who should wait

In general terms, a hair transplant suits people whose hair loss has become stable and who have enough healthy hair at the back of the head, the donor area. Grafts are taken from there and moved through micro-punctures of about 1 mm, so nothing scars over. The doctor discusses the shape with you before the operation, taking your facial features into account.

Some conditions call for caution or postponement: active skin disease of the scalp, unstable chronic illness, problems with blood clotting, or unrealistic expectations. This is why the first stage is a remote consultation, where the doctor looks at your photos and your medical history.

Beard transplantation follows the same logic. Transplanted hair grows for life: trim and style the beard as usual. One patient wrote after the operation: from about the 4th month active, even growth began, the transplanted hair took very well, the beard looks natural, no bald patches are left, and it became much thicker and denser, with the shape he had thought about for a long time.

How the remote consultation works from Luanda

You do not need to leave Luanda for the first conversation. The consultation is free and online. Coordinators are available around the clock (24/7) on Telegram and WhatsApp. You send photos of the head from several angles, describe how long the hair loss has lasted, and list your illnesses and medicines.

The doctor then assesses the donor area and suggests a plan. We stay with you from pre-op planning to 12 months later. Check-ups are at months 1, 3, 6, 9 and 12, and a coordinator will be on the phone 24/7. You can ask questions at any hour, even if it seems a small matter.

If your internet connection is unstable, as can happen in a large city, send photos in several messages and ask the coordinator to repeat anything unclear.

Questions to put to the surgeon during your online consultation

A good consultation is a conversation, not a sales call. Before you speak with the doctor, write your questions down on your phone. Residents of Luanda are used to organising busy days around work, traffic and family, so a short list helps you use the call well and leaves nothing forgotten.

Useful questions: how healthy is my donor area at the back of the head? What shape of frontal hair line suits my facial features? Will my plan need one session or more? How do I wash and protect the scalp in the dry months and during the short rainy season in March and April? Who do I contact at night if something looks unusual? Ask for answers in plain words and do not sign up for anything you have not understood.

Ask also how photos will be used to follow your progress. Check-ups at months 1, 3, 6, 9 and 12 work well with simple monthly photos taken in the same light and at the same angle, which is easy to do at home.

Hats, caps and compression of the scalp in the Luanda climate

Many people in Luanda wear caps against the sun, but a tight cap pressed on fresh grafts can do harm. In the early days, follow your surgeon's instructions about headwear and choose something loose, clean and breathable only when it is allowed. Do not pull it on and off many times a day.

Because Luanda is dry but warm, with mild nights under frequent fog, sweat can collect under any covering. Wash your hands before touching the head, keep bedding clean, and sleep in the position the doctor recommends so the treated area does not rub on the pillow.

If you take a candongueiro or another crowded vehicle, keep your head away from windows, rails and other passengers. A short journey on a busy day can be harder on a healing scalp than a quiet week at home.

Family, friends and what people will say

In a city of more than 8.8 million inhabitants, news travels fast within families and neighbourhoods. Decide in advance whom you will tell. Some patients prefer to share the plan with their spouse or a close relative, who can help with rest, clean bedding and meals during the first days.

Expect comments in the weeks when the transplanted hairs let go, within 2-4 weeks. This is expected and temporary, and it is not a sign of failure. Remind yourself that new growth starts at 3-4 months, that hair becomes visibly thicker at 6-9 months and that the settled look comes at 12-18 months.

Luanda's building sites, port and the scalp in the first days

Luanda is a port and an industrial centre, and in the 21st century the city has been undergoing a major reconstruction. New large developments are rising, and roadworks are found in nearly every neighbourhood. For a person with a fresh transplant this means one practical thing: dust and loose dirt are all around, so plan your first days away from them.

If you live or work near a building site, a cement plant or a busy road, tell the coordinator before the operation. Ask the surgeon how to keep the scalp clean at home, how to wash it and how long you should stay indoors. Do not test the answer yourself by going out early to check how things look.

Ask a family member to change the bedding and keep the sleeping place clean. Simple habits like these count for more than any product.

Baixa and Cidade Alta: daily movement around the city

Luanda is divided into the old Baixa next to the port, with its narrow streets, and the newer Cidade Alta. Many residents cross between these parts daily for work, study or family. When you plan the operation, think about how many of these crossings you can avoid in the first days.

A quiet week at home is easier if errands are done beforehand: shopping, paperwork, arrangements with your employer or lecturers. Ask a relative or a colleague to cover what cannot wait.

When you do go out again, choose the calmer hours, keep your head clear of crowds and follow what the surgeon told you about sun and headwear. Remember that healing takes 0–10 days, and that shedding at 2-4 weeks is part of the normal course.

Lusophone city, many origins: how to talk with the medical team

Portuguese is the official and most widely used language in Luanda, and Kimbundu, Umbundu and Kikongo are also spoken. The inhabitants have different origins, and hair type and hair growth can differ between families. Mention your hair type and any family history of hair loss during the online consultation, so the doctor can plan the shape properly.

If a medical word is unclear, ask the coordinator to explain it in simpler terms and repeat the instructions in writing in the chat. Written instructions in Telegram or WhatsApp are easy to reread at night.

Share your photos in good daylight, without a cap, from the front, the sides, the crown and the back of the head. This helps the doctor judge the donor area and discuss the shape with you, taking your facial features into account.

Timeline of the result

Be patient: the result comes in stages. At 2-4 weeks the transplanted hairs let go, which is expected. At 3-4 months hair comes back. At 6-9 months it is visibly thicker. At 12-18 months the look is settled.

Many people in Luanda judge the result too early. Do not worry if the first months look thin. Take a photo of your head at the same angle each month and compare, and show the photos at your check-ups.

Can I have the first consultation without leaving Luanda?

Yes. The consultation is free and online, and coordinators answer around the clock (24/7) on Telegram and WhatsApp.

Does the Luanda heat harm the transplanted hair?

Heat itself is not the main problem. Direct sun, sweat and dust on the healing scalp are. Protect the scalp as your surgeon advises, especially in the first days, when healing takes 0–10 days.

When do the transplanted hairs fall out?

They let go within 2-4 weeks, as expected. This is normal shedding, and new growth starts at 3-4 months.

When will I see a real result?

Hair comes back at 3-4 months, becomes visibly thicker at 6-9 months, and the settled look comes at 12-18 months.

Will there be scars on the back of the head?

Grafts are taken from the donor area and moved through micro-punctures of about 1 mm, so nothing scars over.

Can I go to the beach or a pool in Luanda after the operation?

Ask your surgeon first. Salt water, sand and pool water can irritate a healing scalp, so wait for the doctor's permission.

Is a beard transplant possible too?

Yes. Transplanted hair grows for life, and you trim and style the beard as usual. The doctor discusses the shape with you beforehand.

Who follows me after the operation?

We stay with you from pre-op planning to 12 months later, with check-ups at months 1, 3, 6, 9 and 12.

What should I ask the surgeon?

Ask about the donor area, the planned hair line, how to protect the scalp from sun and dust, when you can return to work and sport, and who to call if you are worried.

Is it better to book the operation during the dry months in Luanda?

There is no perfect month, because sun is present all year. The dry months run from May to October and the short rainy season falls in March and April. Choose a quiet period in your own calendar and discuss dates with your coordinator.

Can I wear a cap on the way home through Luanda traffic?

Only if your surgeon allows it. It should be loose, clean and breathable, and it must not press on the grafts.

What if I have a worry in the middle of the night?

A coordinator will be on the phone 24/7, and you can also write on Telegram or WhatsApp at any hour.

Is dust from construction in Luanda a problem after a transplant?

It can irritate a healing scalp. Keep your first days at home, keep your hands and bedding clean, and follow the surgeon's washing instructions. Healing takes 0–10 days.

Which photos should I send from Luanda for the consultation?

Send clear daylight photos without a cap: front, both sides, the crown and the back of the head. Add a short note on how long the hair loss has lasted and any illnesses or medicines.

Can I discuss the plan in Portuguese?

Write to the coordinators on Telegram or WhatsApp and say which language you prefer. They are available around the clock (24/7), and you can ask them to repeat anything in simpler words.
