In osteoarthritis, sometimes called arthrosis, the joint's cartilage lining wears away bit by bit over years. That cartilage normally absorbs shock; once it breaks down, bone rubs on bone and the joint becomes painful, stiff and less mobile. It is a disease of wear rather than inflammation, even if episodes of swelling happen.
Weight-bearing joints suffer most: the knee (gonarthrosis), the hip (coxarthrosis), and also the ankle and small hand joints. Results are strongest at early and moderate stages, before heavy damage to the joint surfaces. When the stage is advanced, the doctor will honestly explain if joint replacement is the more realistic option.

Small and large joints are treated; the doctor determines the joint, method and number of injections after looking at your scans
Elbow
Pain after overuse or sports strain, wear of the joint surfaces
Hand and wrist joints
Finger and wrist small joints affected by pain and stiffness
Knee
Pain on stairs and after walks, cartilage wear, meniscus issues
Hip
Early hip osteoarthritis, groin pain, limited rotation
Ankle
Pain and stiffness after sprains and old injuries
Shoulder
Wear of the joint and nearby tendons, pain when lifting the arm

Cell therapy (SVF) from your own adipose tissue
We take a small sample of your adipose tissue and process it to isolate the stromal vascular fraction (SVF), a mix of cells that take part in tissue repair. It is combined with your own plasma and injected into the affected joint.
The typical indication is early or moderate osteoarthritis: the aim is slower cartilage wear and less friction between the surfaces of the joint.

PRP — platelet-rich plasma from your own blood
A small blood sample provides plasma rich in platelets and growth factors; this is injected into the joint to help ease inflammation and create better conditions for the tissue to repair.
In mild osteoarthritis it is used often; to get a stronger effect it is combined with SVF.

Consultation and scan review
The doctor decides whether the procedure suits you after examining the joint and reviewing X-rays, MRI or ultrasound. Scans you already have can be sent ahead of your visit.

Blood sample for PRP
A small blood sample is taken from a vein, and platelet-rich plasma with growth factors is later made from it.
The doctor tells you in advance which tests are needed.

Adipose tissue sample
The doctor numbs the area with local anaesthetic and takes about 30 ml of adipose tissue through a puncture on the abdomen or inner thigh; stitches are not required.

Processing in a centrifuge
The sample is centrifuged so that it splits into layers. The stromal vascular fraction is then isolated and mixed with platelet-rich plasma.
The whole procedure is done in one day.

Injection into the joint
Using ultrasound guidance, the doctor injects the prepared material directly into the affected joint so it is placed precisely.

Follow-up
No crutches are needed and there is no hospital stay. The doctor keeps in touch after the procedure to see how the joint responds.

Follow-up visits
Follow-up appointments let the doctor monitor the joint and adjust the plan. As a rule, pain eases in the first month, mobility improves over about three months and the full effect develops over around six months.

Going home the same day is the norm, and normal daily activity usually resumes within a day or two; small dressings cover the puncture sites. In the first week the joint may ache slightly more, which is expected. During the first month pain usually eases, over about three months mobility and activity improve, and around six months are needed for the full effect. Its duration differs from person to person, depending on the stage, body weight, activity and other factors, so no fixed result can be promised. Keeping weight healthy and exercising regularly in a joint-friendly way helps it last longer.
Treatment without surgery that works to keep your own joint rather than swap it for an implant

Your own tissue
No donor or synthetic material: we use only your own blood and adipose tissue

No crutches
Only punctures, no incisions — under local anaesthetic and without a long rehabilitation

What is osteoarthritis in simple terms?
Put simply, the cartilage covering the bone ends in a joint wears down over time. Thin cartilage no longer cushions the joint, so the bones rub, causing pain, stiffness and crunching. It is a degenerative condition rather than an inflammatory one.
Can hip osteoarthritis be treated without surgery?
Often it can, as long as treatment is not postponed. SVF and PRP injections set out to reduce pain and support the cartilage, avoiding an operation; replacement of the joint is the last option when it is already destroyed.
How soon will I notice a result?
The first changes are often noticed 2–3 weeks after the procedure. Over about six months a stable result forms, lasting anywhere from several months to several years depending on the individual. Osteoarthritis is chronic and calls for an ongoing plan rather than one injection.
At which stage does the treatment work best?
Early and moderate stages respond best. Generally, the milder the stage, the faster and longer-lasting the effect, which may cut the need for regular hyaluronic acid injections. When the joint space has almost disappeared at the most advanced stage, a lasting effect cannot be expected.
Which joints are most often affected?
Those that carry the most load: knees, hips, ankles, and also the small hand joints and the spine. Regenerative treatment is applied to every one of them.
What happens if osteoarthritis is left untreated?
It tends to progress: pain becomes constant, movement more restricted, the joint may deform and walking may become hard. Early diagnosis, weight control, exercise and working with a doctor really make a difference.
Which tests and scans are needed?
The main method is an X-ray, which shows the stage. MRI gives a detailed picture of cartilage and soft tissues, ultrasound reveals inflammation and fluid in the joint, and blood tests help exclude inflammatory conditions. If you already have results, the doctor can review them free of charge.
How is osteoarthritis different from arthritis?
Osteoarthritis means worn cartilage — aching pain when moving, crunching, stiffness after rest. Arthritis means inflammation — pain at night and at rest, swelling, redness, warmth over the joint. As the approach to treatment differs, the diagnosis comes first.
Can I get a consultation about my case?
Yes — a doctor will review your X-rays, MRI or test results free of charge after you send them, assess the stage of osteoarthritis and suggest a non-surgical plan where it is appropriate.
Can I exercise with osteoarthritis?
Yes, you should exercise. Correct activity strengthens the muscles that relieve the joint, improves cartilage nutrition and keeps you mobile. Swimming, cycling, water aerobics, yoga and Nordic walking are good; jumping, heavy lifting, sudden movements and running on hard surfaces are not.
Treatment of osteoarthritis in Srinagar uses your own tissue: plasma from a small blood sample and the stromal vascular fraction from a small sample of adipose tissue. There is no donor or synthetic material.
Osteoarthritis treatment in Srinagar is not done with cancer, acute infections, blood clotting disorders, during pregnancy or during a flare-up of a serious chronic illness. The doctor checks this at the consultation.
