What is liposuction
and who is it for?

Liposuction is a surgical method of removing excess subcutaneous fat from problem areas. It is not a way to lose weight or a substitute for diet and exercise. Its goal is targeted contouring: removing saddlebags on the thighs, a sagging belly, and fat deposits on the back, flanks, arms or chin.

If certain areas hold fat while your weight is normal and your lifestyle active, liposuction is for you. Fat cells removed from treated areas do not come back, which means that with a stable lifestyle the result lasts a long time.

Areas we treat

A single operation can treat several areas at once, saving recovery time and budget

Liposuction techniques at City Medical Centre

Tumescent (classic) liposuction

The treatment area is first injected with a special solution of saline, lidocaine, adrenaline and several other agents. This loosens the fat and narrows the vessels, so blood loss is minimal and removal is gentle. Next, the fat emulsion is vacuumed out through a thin cannula.

Swelling and bruising are close to none after the operation, and recovery is considerably easier than after a conventional procedure.

VASER liposuction (ultrasound)

Here fat cells are broken down with ultrasound before vacuum removal — an ideal method for defining pronounced muscle relief (athletic abs) and body contouring.

It also suits delicate areas.

How the surgery goes: from consultation to result

Surgeon consultation

The doctor listens to your wishes, examines and assesses the fat deposits and rules out contraindications. At City Medical Centre a hormonal screening is also ordered — it helps predict the long-term result.

Pre-operative tests

You will need blood tests (complete count, coagulation panel, biochemistry, HIV, hepatitis, syphilis), an ECG, a chest X-ray and, if necessary, a GP consultation.

All tests can be done at the clinic with no waiting.

Preparation

For faster healing, stop alcohol and smoking a week before. Stop medications that affect blood clotting 2 weeks before. Have the last meal 8 hours before.

Surgery day

Meeting the surgeon, marking the areas, fitting compression garments. Anesthesia is local or general depending on the scope.
From 1 hour for small areas to 3–4 hours when procedures are combined.

Waking up and monitoring

General anesthesia: a day in hospital under observation. Local anesthesia: discharge 3–4 hours after the operation.

Recovery

Compression garments are needed for 30–45 days. In 3–4 weeks the swelling subsides and first results appear; the final result is assessed in 3–6 months with the skin fully tightened.

Recovery after liposuction

After tumescent liposuction, recovery is much shorter than after a conventional procedure. Most patients return to work within 7–10 days. In the first week, mild swelling and a raised temperature are possible — a normal response to surgery. Compression garments are worn for 30–45 days: they fix the new contours and speed up tissue recovery. In the first month, bathhouse, sauna, pool and intense sport are off-limits. For the best result and faster recovery we recommend lymphatic drainage massage, pressotherapy and a gradual return to activity. First visible changes appear in 3–4 weeks, the final result in 3–6 months.

Liposuction: frequently asked questions

Everything about body contouring in Tabuk

Liposuction is not only a women's procedure. The abdomen and flanks are the top request for both sexes, and in men the chest is a separate case: the fat component of gynecomastia or pseudogynecomastia can be removed surgically. VASER, with ultrasound breakdown of fat, helps define pronounced muscle relief. Men in Tabuk can discuss which technique suits their goals at the consultation.

Is it painful? No: the procedure is done under anaesthesia, local or general depending on scope. Afterwards mild discomfort is possible and is relieved with painkillers prescribed by the doctor. Most patients return to their usual routine in 7–10 days, while swelling and bruising resolve by weeks 4–5. That is the typical course for people in Tabuk after liposuction.

What does the first step cost? Nothing: the plastic surgeon consultation is free. At it you learn whether liposuction suits you, which method fits your zones and what the final price will be, starting from $1,200 (≈ SAR 4,500). People in Tabuk can fill in the short form or write in any messenger, and the coordinator will get back to you shortly to arrange a convenient time.
