What is regenerative
joint treatment?

The treatment is regenerative and uses only what your body supplies: PRP (platelet-rich plasma from the blood) and SVF (the stromal vascular fraction from a small piece of adipose tissue). Injected into the joint that hurts, it aims to calm inflammation, ease pain and support the tissue within.

People with joint pain choose it to avoid surgery or push it back, including those told a joint replacement is the only way. A lasting effect is more likely the earlier the condition is caught; the doctor evaluates this using your scans.

Joints we treat

Large and small joints — after looking at your scans, the doctor selects the joint, the method and how many injections you need

Methods we use

Cell therapy (SVF) from your own adipose tissue

Cell therapy (SVF) from your own adipose tissue

A little of your adipose tissue is processed to isolate SVF — the stromal vascular fraction, which contains cells involved in repairing tissue. It is then combined with your own plasma and injected into the joint.

The usual reason to choose it: more pronounced changes in the joint and the goal of a longer-lasting effect.

PRP — platelet-rich plasma from your own blood

PRP — platelet-rich plasma from your own blood

A small amount of your blood is processed to separate plasma rich in platelets and growth factors, which is then injected into the joint. It helps settle inflammation and gives the tissues better conditions for repair.

It can be used on its own as a course of injections, or together with SVF.

How the procedure goes: step by step

Consultation and scan review

At the consultation the joint is examined and your X-rays, MRI or ultrasound are reviewed to decide if the procedure suits you. You can send existing scans before you come.

Blood sample for PRP

Blood is drawn from a vein — only a small amount. Later, platelet-rich plasma with growth factors is made from it.

The doctor tells you in advance which tests are needed.

Adipose tissue sample

A puncture on the abdomen or inner thigh, made under local anaesthetic, is used to take a small portion of adipose tissue, about 30 ml. No stitches follow.

Processing in a centrifuge

The centrifuge separates the sample into layers, the stromal vascular fraction is isolated, and it is then mixed with platelet-rich plasma.
The whole procedure is done in one day.

Injection into the joint

The doctor injects the prepared material directly into the affected joint, using ultrasound to place it precisely.

Follow-up

No crutches and no hospital stay. The doctor stays in touch after the procedure and follows how the joint responds.

Follow-up visits

After 1 month
3 months
6 months

Check-ups after the procedure show the doctor how the joint responds, so the plan can be adjusted — typically pain eases in the first month, mobility improves within about three months and the full effect develops over around six months.

After the procedure

Most patients return home that same day and get back to their usual daily activity in a day or two, with small dressings on the puncture sites. It is an expected reaction for the joint to ache slightly more in the first week. Over the first month the pain usually eases, over about three months mobility and activity get better, and over around six months the full effect develops. How long it lasts is individual — the stage of the condition, body weight, activity and other factors all play a part — and no one can promise a fixed result. In the first weeks, your doctor advises you individually on exercise and load.

Joint treatment: frequently asked questions

Joint treatment in Beirut step by step

SVF and PRP work in different ways. PRP helps calm inflammation and creates better conditions for repair; SVF contains cells involved in tissue repair and is chosen when changes are more pronounced. For patients from Beirut, the doctor often combines the two.

It starts with a consultation: the doctor examines the joint and reviews your X-rays, MRI or ultrasound. Then a small blood sample and an adipose tissue sample are taken, processed in a centrifuge and injected into the joint under ultrasound guidance. For patients from Beirut, everything is done in one day.

A consultation is the first step for every patient from Beirut. It is free, and after it you know the method, the number of injections and the cost.
