Cell therapy (SVF) and PRP as one element of arthritis care — knee, hand, shoulder and other joints, with a doctor reviewing your tests beforehand

No surgery — an injection instead of an operation

and review of your scans
In arthritis the joint is inflamed. People typically notice pain even at rest or at night, stiffness on waking that goes on for more than half an hour, swelling, and a red, warm joint. Behind it may be an autoimmune condition such as rheumatoid or psoriatic arthritis, gout, an infection or old trauma.
PRP and SVF can help reduce inflammation and pain and support the tissues inside the joint, but they do not replace care from a rheumatologist for a systemic disease. The procedure is not done during an active joint infection or a severe flare — the doctor first confirms the type of arthritis and chooses the right moment.

Large and small joints — the doctor chooses the joint, the method and the number of injections after reviewing your scans
Elbow
Pain after strain in sport or overuse, and worn surfaces inside the joint
Hand and wrist joints
Finger and wrist small joints that are stiff and painful
Knee
Stair and post-walking pain, worn cartilage and meniscus problems
Hip
Early hip osteoarthritis, groin pain, limited rotation
Ankle
Pain and stiffness after sprains and old injuries
Shoulder
Raising the arm hurts; the joint and the tendons around it are worn

Cell therapy (SVF) from your own adipose tissue
SVF, or stromal vascular fraction, is a mix of cells involved in tissue repair, isolated by processing a small amount of your adipose tissue. It is combined with plasma from your own blood and injected into the affected joint.
For inflammatory arthritis it is applied after the acute flare has calmed, because of its effect on local inflammation and on tissue repair.

PRP — platelet-rich plasma from your own blood
It helps calm inflammation and improves conditions for tissue repair: plasma rich in platelets and growth factors, separated from a small amount of your blood and injected into the joint.
It may form one part of the overall treatment plan in rheumatoid and other types of inflammatory arthritis.

Consultation and scan review
Your X-rays, MRI or ultrasound are reviewed and the joint is examined, after which the doctor decides whether this procedure suits you. Already have scans? You can send them in advance.

Blood sample for PRP
A small blood sample is taken from a vein. Later, platelet-rich plasma with growth factors is prepared from this blood.
The doctor tells you in advance which tests are needed.

Adipose tissue sample
Under local anaesthetic we take roughly 30 ml of adipose tissue through a single puncture on the abdomen or the inner thigh — no stitches required.

Processing in a centrifuge
Once the centrifuge has spun the sample into layers, the stromal vascular fraction is isolated and added to the platelet-rich plasma.
The whole procedure is done in one day.

Injection into the joint
Using ultrasound guidance to place it precisely, the prepared material is injected directly into the joint that is affected.

Follow-up
You need neither crutches nor a hospital stay. The doctor stays in contact after the procedure and watches the joint's response.

Follow-up visits
At follow-up visits the doctor sees how the joint is responding and adjusts the plan. Pain usually eases in the first month, mobility improves over about three months, and the full effect builds over around six months.

Small dressings cover the punctures, and most people go home that same day, getting back to everyday activity within a day or two. Expect the joint to ache a little more in the first week — a normal reaction. Pain usually eases over the first month, mobility and activity improve over about three months, and the full effect develops over around six months. How long the result lasts varies with the stage of the condition, body weight, activity and other factors; no one can promise a fixed outcome. If you are being treated by a rheumatologist, keep your prescribed medication unless you have talked it over with them.
Rather than replacing your joint, we work to keep it — this is treatment without surgery

Your own tissue
Your own adipose tissue and blood are the only materials used, never donor or synthetic ones

No crutches
Local anaesthetic, punctures rather than incisions, and no long rehabilitation

Second opinion
Send X-rays, MRI results or reports and a doctor will assess them independently and free of charge

Support after the procedure
The result matters to us beyond injection day, so we stay in touch after the procedure
You learn the cost from the doctor after the consultation, as it depends on the joint, the method and the type of arthritis

What is arthritis and what are its symptoms?
Joint inflammation defines arthritis. It typically brings pain at rest and at night, morning stiffness that lasts more than 30 minutes, swelling, redness and warmth over the joint. Autoimmune conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, infections, gout and psoriasis can all lead to it.
Can PRP help with rheumatoid arthritis?
In inflammatory arthritis, rheumatoid included, PRP may help cut local inflammation, pain and swelling. Growth factors released by the platelets shape the immune response and support tissue repair. It is a complement to, not a substitute for, your rheumatologist's treatment.
Can psoriatic arthritis be cured?
A complete cure for psoriatic arthritis, a chronic disease, is not currently possible. What we aim for is long remission — control of inflammation and prevention of joint deformity — and regenerative injections can form one part of that plan.
How does SVF work in autoimmune arthritis?
Damaged tissue in the joint can be supported in its repair by the cells in SVF, which also modulate the local immune response. Research continues, so the doctor will set out realistic expectations for your type of arthritis.
When is the treatment not suitable?
If you have an active joint infection, a severe flare, cancer or a blood clotting disorder, or are pregnant, the procedure is not done; the doctor postpones it or offers another option.
How is knee arthritis different from osteoarthritis?
The difference: knee arthritis is inflammation from an autoimmune reaction, infection or gout (redness, warmth, marked swelling, tenderness to touch), while osteoarthritis is wear of the cartilage, usually with a dry crunch and aching pain on movement.
Why does an arthritic joint hurt even at rest?
In an inflamed joint the pain receptors are stimulated all the time — during movement, at rest and at night. This pain can be eased by treatment aimed at reducing the inflammation, such as PRP and SVF.
Can joint injections be done during pregnancy?
No. In pregnancy, joint injections such as PRP and SVF are contraindicated, and any arthritis treatment is decided only together with a rheumatologist and an obstetrician.
Can I get a second opinion on my tests and scans?
Yes. Once you send your X-rays, MRI, ultrasound or blood test results, a doctor reviews them at no cost and says whether regenerative treatment could suit your type of arthritis.
What happens if rheumatoid arthritis is not treated?
Timely treatment is needed, because without it the disease can lead to permanent joint deformity, loss of function, osteoporosis and damage to internal organs such as the heart, lungs and kidneys.
Without treatment, rheumatoid arthritis can lead to permanent joint deformity, loss of function and damage to internal organs. Timely treatment matters for every patient in Vilnius.
Treatment starts with a consultation and a review of your scans and tests. Then blood and a small adipose tissue sample are taken, processed in a centrifuge and injected into the joint under ultrasound guidance. For patients from Vilnius, it is done in one day.
The cost of arthritis treatment depends on the joint, the type of arthritis and the method, so the price is set at the consultation. For patients from Vilnius, the first consultation and review of your scans are free. Leave your name and phone number to book.
